In light of many mixed reviews that seem to center around one's expectations when seeking- "BBQ" I would like to help set the stage for the food you will get at Red Bee! This will contain reviews and photos from two visits this week. In a nutshell, Red Bee BBQ has what you might consider a unique "Asian" twist on BBQ. What we found was well cooked chicken, beef and pork, (in large servings) with a tomato based sauce on it or on the side (your choice) and a wide selection of side dishes. You can get stuff like Chinese influenced BBQ Pork and even fried rice as a side! How about elote corn on the cob? We have been here a half dozen times and we have come to really appreciate the hard working and welcoming owner (Gee) and how much passion he puts into his restaurant! He truly is the nicest type of owner who wants share his multi-ethnic BBQ cooking with you. We have had some ups and downs eating at Red Bee, but overall find it an outstanding value for your money. The photos and review with have a bit of "could use improvement " and lots of positives as well. Take out review- we placed a take out order at Red Bee for dinner. Combo plates of pulled pork and beef brisket and sliced BBQ pork and beef brisket. Sides were BBQ beans, coleslaw, cornbread and steamed rice. We watched the cook take the meat selections from the steam table and start slicing. The restaurant and steam tables were totally neat and clean. Always a great sign! She packaged up everything carefully and was super nice, polite, and professional. We unpacked the take out containers and found everything was there. Great news! What we did find was the BEEF BRISKET was not carefully sliced. What should be thin ribbons of cross grain sliced brisket was instead literally chunks of mostly fat and gristle. Clearly the art of anything BBQ isn't just the cooking itself. It's prep work to trim and season the meats, and also training to learn to properly slice and serve up the meat, including final trimming of excess fat and gristle. The flavor of the beef was quite good, but also off putting because the fat and gristle to meat ratio was overwhelming. The PULLED PORK was quite dense. It appeared as though the pulled pork had been steamed or baked, because it was dry and was being held together in huge chunks. Pulled pork was under seasoned. A polite recommendation would be to shred or even chop it up thoroughly and add more seasoning and sauce to create a more flavorful base, to which more sauce could be added at the table as desired. The Chinese style BBQ PORK ( cha siu) was unfortunately super dry and way under seasoned. In fact, it had little flavor whatsoever. Now I love me some BBQ pork and as a matter of fact, I happen to order it nearly every time at that other place with the panda bears! It's a unique flavor that has wide appeal because it's delicious! A small recommendation to Red Bee is that if you are serving cha siu pork, please consider adding the traditional cha siu sweet marinade glaze and it will be an ABSOLUTE WINNER for your restaurant! Take out sides were BBQ beans, cole slaw, and cornbread. Beans were spot on flavorful sweet sweet smokey tomato brown sugar flavor but could use more time low and slow to soften the chew a bit. Cole slaw was fresh and well dressed. Cornbread was moist and pillowy. Serving sizes were super generous! Each combo made dinner for two into dinner for four! Dine in experience- We just dined in and Gee happened to be working the line like attentive parent wanting to make sure everything was being taken care of. The amount of food was great! First thing on the serving platter was the side salad with everything. That was huge to start with. Iceberg mix with tons of veg toppings. Next 1/4 from a whole roast chicken was cut up. Then two pork ribs were cut from a slab. Your choice of a tomato based bbq sauce all over or on the side. I went with all over! The CHICKEN was amazing. Super tender, juicy and flavorful! You know how sometimes chicken can be dry, flavorless, etc? It was fall off the bone tender and delicious! Perfectly seasoned, the sauce added another little something. The pork ribs (2) were quite meaty, though a little toothy. Good porky flavor, but pretty dense around the bone. I would politely recommend a low and slow pre-cook and finishing on a hot flame to get that universally beloved fall off the bone texture with the smokey outside. I'm hoping Mr. Gee considers adjusting a couple of his dishes to cook in the style is he most used to. I think it would yield excellent results and would surprise diners. He does currently put the Asian spin on what he cooks- I would just love to see him turn it up all the way in that direction for a couple of items. read more

I love this place i been staying in Windsor for over a month due to work and this is what i eat at least 3 times a week i order thru DoorDash to my hotel after work and i always order the full rack of bbq ribs and its so freaking good i haven't tried anything else other than the ribs since i honestly felt jn love with them.ill post a picture once i get my ribs delivered. Getting a BBQ Jones on a rainy Saturday might be peak mismatch, but that's where I found myself heading into 2023. I'm still on a mission to try all local joints one time before repeating and Red Bee BBQ was next on the list so we hit the road. Pork ribs, slaw and beans were just what I needed. The meat just fell off the bone, and sauce was sweet, a bit spicy and just the right amount. Next day I scored the chicken leftovers and the meat was cooked perfectly too. Beautiful, bright and light inside. Everything looks brand new. Tasteful. There's a buffet line even though it's not really a buffet. Lol. It's all displayed so you can see it's yummyness. The staff is very kind and helpful. We ordered a combo with brisket, char su, and a couple delicious sides of Cole slaw and beans. Added cornbread. So good. The cornbread is amazing. I ordered the big salad with 2 meats. For the meats I ordered brisket and ribs. The ribs were really delicious and very tender. However, the brisket wasn't as good. For the brisket, there were some places on the meat that were really tough and chewy and other places that really tender. The brisket had a nice bark to it so that was a big bonus. The meat quality is really worth it for the price you are paying! The salad on the other hand was a huge disappointment. The salad is drenched in sauce. Also, there were lettuce roots in the salad so that part wasn't edible. I only finished about 1/4 of the salad. The broccoli in the salad is really tasty though! What a great addition to Windsor! I read all the reviews prior to my first visit and it was interesting that the common negative feedback was related to unmet expectations. This is NOT your Texas, St. Louis, NOLA type of BBQ Place. So I can see how the reviewers scored this restaurant low. I would refer this to be an "International BBQ" most of sauces are on the sweeter side, however, you have many options to enhance the flavors. First of all, the moment you walk in, you are provided with a warm welcome. You are offered samples of absolutely everything. He Menu is quite clear. Step 1) pick your sides: we were a party of 5 and ordered the following: cornbread, baked beans, coleslaw, macaroni salad and potato salad. Step 2) pick your meat(s): we ordered the ribs, smoked beef brisket, spicy chicken, step 3) pick your extra: crazy corn (mayo, Parmesan, tahini sauce, lemon juice) yes it was crazy delicious! I enjoyed my lunch here! Pleasantly surprised for sure. I got some sort of teriyaki type chicken with Mac salad (who doesn't get Mac salad at a kind of Hawaiian place) and white rice. This is the best bbq in Sonoma county for this cheap. You can't beat the price for that quality of food. I live in LA and I can't find anything that compares. Every time I visit Sonoma county I stop here once or twice. It's nothing special just straight forward bbq I suggest the bbq chicken breast and the sliced pork not a big fan of the other meets. Went to this place on a whim. The staff were very friendly and the place was clean. Now for the food. They have the usual beef brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken and they also have a spicy pulled chicken. They make everything in-house according to the owner. All in all the bbq was just ok.
