If you are new to cycling make sure to stop into recycled cycles! Ryan helped me with understanding the various cycles, showed me what parts to look for in each one, and had me test several. He knew my price point was lower than items on the floor, and gave me the resources I need to make the right purchase at the right time. I will 100% be going back there and will be recommending them to others. I plan on trying their rental program as well. Great shop and the beat customer service. read more

Store seems to be a pretty prominent one, lots of people talk about it and lot of people like it. My review is not based on the service or the products, but purely based on the disappointment of the store not having a single used bike for available for sale. Why would you call the store Recycled, if you do not have a single used bike available. read more

Easily the sickest bike shop I've been lucky enough to stumble upon. 201/10 would recommend

Great bike rental place, made sure everything was tuned, including switching out the pedals for my rental. if they could control the Seattle weather, it would be 10 stars (hail storm). No complaints from the staff returning the bike cold and wet. read more

I know nothing about bikes. At all. And most bike shops are intimidating as hell, because it's a heap of people who know figuratively and possibly literally everything there is to know about bikes. But because I am eternally naive, I decided I wanted to build a bike. I have gone in there four times in as many days, and each time they have been unfailingly patient and helpful. If they're judging me for not knowing the different between men's and women's saddles, or the fact that a crank is a thing, or what even is a derailleur? they certainly aren't showing it. I am going in there bright and early tomorrow morning with about 95% of a completed bike and a whole heap of unrelated cables that may be for brakes, may be for shifters, and I am begging them to complete this bad boy for me. And I am confident they will help me and be super chill and kind about it. Because seriously, did we ever figure out what a derailleur is? read more

they have lots of boxes of parts & stuff, but don't seem to have a lot of full on 'recycled cycles'. anyway, i've been in there 2x now and the staff has been pretty helpful and nice. i always seem to find what i'm looking for. the non-recycled products they carry are good quality brands. i bought a bike rack for the car there and the employee who sold it to me offered to put it on the car. amazing! read more

This place is good for students and those on a budget. Their used parts are UBER cheap, and tons to select from. If I lived on the AVE, I would be going there everyday to see whats new in the bins. This place is perfect for those working on project bikes and looking for parts for cheap. The service there is between OK and GREAT. There are times when I come, and takes a couple of minutes to get serviced(when there is not busy...If it is busy, I totally understand). But other then that, these people know what they are talking about and can help you find a cheap solution for whatever you need for your bike. On top of that, if you buy a decent amount of stuff, they'll give you a discount on labor and so on. I really do reccomend this shop, for everyone on a Budget. Of course used parts are going to be used parts, but Im pretty sure that if the part doesn't work, they wouldn't put it out on the floor. Other then that these guys are great, and have a big selection of things new and used. From Bike parts to shoes, they have it all. read more

If you are looking for parts, trinkets, or bike candy of any sort, this is your Mecca. C and I pedaled up to the U-District to grab some cork wrap for my "new" 1971 Schwinn Varsity. On the way, my secondhand rear rack lost a screw and was rattling alarmingly. We reached Recycled Cycles just before closing on Sunday evening. After grabbing my cork (and after C asked for some advice on a Peugeot fixie project), we rummaged through their nuts-and-bolts bin for something to re-affix the rack to my bike. Screws 1,2,3, and 4 were too long, too short, too fat, too skinny, etc. Ben ("nose ring guy" from a previous review) stayed with us until after closing to find the right hardware, install it, and get me safely back on the road. He was helpful and not in the least condescending, even though he was obviously ready to close up shop. Thanks Ben! We'll be back for more great parts and service. read more

These guys were awesome. Not only did they quickly solve my problem another bike shop told me was unsolvable, but they bought some parts off of my bike that I didn't want to pay for my repairs and got me functional and on the road right away at a very reasonable price. They also had in stock other random parts I needed. read more

These guys are rad. Stopped in on a random day for a bottom bracket that was close to 20 years old and grinding like a mule and a really nice fella spent a good 30 minutes trying to get it off to replace it. He finally did, though he smoked a tool to wrench it off. I apologized for what should of been an easy fix but he just smiled and said he liked the challenge. Nice peeps in here, give them your money. Amazon has enough. read more

Helpful, and know their stuff. When I bought my bike they did a full inspection, and found it needed a rebuild and went right to it. Went back and they custom fitted a kickstand (had to cut out part of the metal) and gave it to me for free for having to wait. Also, I enjoy riding here from my place in West Seattle~ great ride! read more

Fantastic customer service. I picked up a road bike rental in the morning and was out within minutes. The bike was great and very affordable. I highly recommend Recycled Cycles to anyone renting bikes in the Seattle area. read more

These guys are great: honest, affordable, and friendly. Please give them your business so they stay in business and I can continue to bring my bikes to them for repairs and upgrades. read more

I came in here about a week ago asking about fenders and bike racks. The employees who helped me were super knowledgeable and very friendly. They also lent me tools to install what I bought right there in the store. I would definitely come back here! read more

By all accounts, this place is amazing - great bikes, great products, great customer service - well, except for one guy. My wife and I went in to rent two bikes for a week. We were unfortunately being helped by a guy named J____. He told us he didn't have any and only when we pressed him did he even look to see if he had anything available. Turns out he had two bikes. He tried to help us by adjusting the seats but completely adjusted them incorrectly. Any attempt by us to engage in friendly conversation was met with curt, humorless responses. Then when we came back that evening, we asked him if we could rent the bikes for a week. He said it was 100% not possible and sent us back to drop the bikes off at the service counter. Enter Annie - most helpful person there. Due to our previous unhelpful encounters with J, we asked her if she knew if there were any bikes available to rent from them. Unlike J, Annie actually took the extra two minutes to check and within 5 min we had signed the new rental agreement and she was very expertly adjusting our seats, giving us lights, checking air in our tires, and being very friendly! It was a pleasure to meet her and very good experience to be helped by someone who knew bikes and knew customer service. When we went back to drop off our bikes at the end of the week, everyone else there was helpful and kind as well. 4 stars: if you like bikes, you'll like recycled cycles - just steer clear of J. read more

I walked in here 10 years ago and there was attiude. 5 years ago, still attitude. So against my better judgement I went in here last week, yup still attitude. And as a kicker it was the same old guy as last time. Mr Recycled Cycles bike store manager himself. I put my 3k bike shopping money back in my dirty jeans pocket and went up to the giant corporate behemoth Performance Bike up the street, where they have always been the most kind and helpful people. Recycled, you've got it backwards, you're supoosed to be the cool Indy shop that's fun, engaging and down to earth. No matter if I roll up on a fixed gear in street clothes or a carbon racing bike in a lycra kit they are pretentious and rude. And they have been that way for some time now... read more

The nicest, most honest cycle place in town - by far. The d-bag factor you'll find at other Seattle bike shops is non-existent here. They also volunteer at charity bike rides too and probably don't get enough credit (the MS Ride, for example). These guys are a real member of the community. Oh yeah - they also know a ton about bikes. I built a cross bike up from scratch solely from pets (and advice!) from these guys. Keep up the good work guys, I'll be back in later this week! read more

By far the friendliest and most laid back sales staff I've encountered! They clearly staff like its peak season year round (I don't even really know if there is such a thing as peak season in bike sales but whatever) because there were at least 3 staff to 1 customer. I didn't get any impression there was competition with sales either, they seemed to work together cohesively in order to find what's best for the customer. I think the guy who mainly worked with me asked two of his coworkers their opinion when helping me find my bike. He was super considerate of my price point, and attentive to my needs. I have balance and hearing issues, and he went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable with all my choices. It sounds like I am not the first disabled individual that they have worked with to find something that works so they can ride a bike (partially blind, severe balance issues, deaf etc.). They do a great job restoring used bikes, mine seems to be in pristine condition even though it is older. They gave me 10% off on all the accessories I bought for the bike, and checked my bike over twice to ensure quality condition. On top of all that, since I haven't really been on a bike since I was a kid, I was briefed on road rules and proper locking method. The main guy who helped me spent at least a couple hours doing all this for me, and I never felt rushed or pressured in any way. Really awesome establishment with genuine people, I'll definitely only go back there for my future bike related needs! read more

A very down-to-earth and friendly bike shop. When I first moved to Seattle, I took my bike to one of the "performance" shops in the U-district, and they were such bike snobs that they refused to tune it...I guess because it's a Schwinn. No such attitude at Recycled Cycles, where they showed me a few tricks like how to adjust my brakes, at no charge. We bought a push bike for my son there, and will be going back in a few months when he's ready to move to pedals, and when my daughter outgrows her bike. They have a great inventory, space to ride/try, and they don't ignore you if you're not riding a fixie track bike. Plus, they put reflectors on my son's push bike, at his insistence, for free. (In case he decides to ride at night? Who knows--he's two). read more

recycled cycles is kind of everything thats right about riding a bike i ride everyday and love it. these guys have great deals on all matter of used bikes, parts and labor. the used gear selection is also great for new riders that don't want to invest too much. they have time and time again found the most obscure random parts and sold them to me for nickels. wednesdays are the best days to go in for service. the staff is great, though i have heard some complaints of elitism, if thats happens to you, don't tell yelp, tell the guy: " listen you elitist hipster, i want to ride i bike, bikes are cool, i want your help so ride your fixe gear down from your ivory studio apartment and i'll give you some money." really, if you change the word bike with any other noun you'll find you can get a lot done in this town. read more

John is the best. I told him my bike was hard to take on the trails because the stock gear ratios were too high. He swapped out the back wheel gears in 5 minutes and my bike is super fun to ride now. It only cost $20! Thanks John. read more

It all depends on who you talk to. Started out with some pretty snooty fellows, but then TJ helped me and my girlfriend for close to two hours, and didn't try to upsell me on anything I wasn't looking for. Most knowledgeable and most excellent. read more

Just bought a Raleigh Capri 3.0 over the weekend and had yet another great experience. We've worked with Brian, Ben and Skip while getting this bike. They all have great knowledge of bikes and none of them were pushy with sales at all. (Even though we think they are commissioned since we were asked who was helping us.) They allow the bike to fit me rather than try to force any old bike on us. (Ben actually recommended the lower costing bike over an expensive bike after listening to my biking style.) Was given a free water bottle cage and water bottle on the way out, "just because." Of course it helped that we purchased a nice brand new bike as well, but that is the type of service you should expect from this store. read more

I've been coming here for ten years and they have always been fabulous whether it's a tune-up, new brakes, or a new chain. I've never had them try to tack on extras that weren't necessary. Recently my bike was stolen and they gave me all the information I needed over the phone to file a police report. When it came time to get my new bike serviced (I had purchased a used bike) they got it up and running in no time and they gave me a very reasonable deal for the work. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

Great selection of new and used parts. Staff were attentive and friendly. They also offer store credit for used bike stuff which is pretty rare to see nowadays. They had a screaming deal on Chrome messenger bags, so glad I decided to drop by! read more

Knowledgeable, friendly staff member Skip helped us find a great bike. My 13 year old needed a bike for riding with friends and in a couple of years commuting to school. We went on a Thursday afternoon so that Skip had time to talk to us about the manufacturer, the mechanics of the gear system, locks etc. and for my son to feel comfortable in handling it on his own. An excellent experience. The only con was that there were only two bikes in his size - fortunately one of them was perfect. Thanks again Skip! read more

I like the shop, like the philosophy, and think the mechanics are first-rate. But until they come up with a system to determine who is the next person waiting, I'm not going back (as a racer I spend a lot on bike stuff). It is so frustrating to be next and have someone else catch their attention and get served before you. After the second one, I left and won't be back. read more

Good, old-fashioned customer service, served up in a casual, no-pressure establishment. I've been shopping at Recycled Cycles for over a decade and the people, service and selection of used parts can't be beat. While they don't specialize in high-end bikes or parts, you'll routinely find used Dura Ace, Campy and Sram RED parts for sale at great prices. What originally got me hooked on them is that they do their best to get your bike back on the road as fast as possible. If it's a simple repair and you're not showing up the first sunny day in Seattle summer before STP, they'll typically try and get fix it and get you back on the road. They've got an amazing selection of used parts and your average selection of new stuff. Like most shops they can order you anything that's not on hand. They also let you turn in old parts for store credit, which is a great way to keep your garage in order. It's also a great place to consign your used bike if you don't want to deal with craigslist. The mechanics are top notch and super friendly. Don't be intimidated to talk to them or anyone else there. read more

Great for service, used parts, selling your old stuff!

Simply the best bicycle shop in Seattle. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and a good selection of new and constantly changing used inventory. Also don't forget to look up next time you are in the shop. An amazing collection of museum quality vintage bikes looms overhead. read more

Great shop. They always have the small parts that you need. I just wished they kept an online inventory of used bikes.

IMO: THE most affordable and honest shop within Seattle. I won't go anywhere else (except for their other location) except in emergencies.

Of the 5 stores I went to, both Recycled Cycles locations had the best selections and the best service. Ended up buying two Kona bikes at the Fremont location. read more

A great bike shop for used bikes, new bikes, repairs, old parts, anything-- great service from really knowledgable people. Very hip. Bins and bins full of old salvaged parts (priced reasonably!) are great for building bikes, and the staff is really helpful. The place is steeped in bike culture, which makes it fun to hang around in-- old bikes on the walls, memoribillia, and classic parts in display cases. 10% discount with a UPASS, too, which is nice. read more

This place used to be the least intimidating shop I knew of in Seattle. Now it's just as bad as Performance Cycles up the street. The staff were abrupt and obviously annoyed at my attempts to explain what was wrong with my bike. They seem to be trying to cater to a more upscale crowd than they used to. I miss the old, laid-back shop! I won't be going back here any time soon. read more

Never again! Went in today looking to buy a bike for my 21 year old son, his birthday present. Why do people work in retail if they don't like customers? Nose ring guy couldn't have been more condescending and my son is not a neophyte. There are plenty of choices and we turned around and went back to Greg's. I guess Recycled Cycles didn't want our $1,500 today. Owners, do you read this? Lose the 'tude. read more

Needed a used bike for a 6 year old and found it. Staff was helpful and friendly both in person and over the phone.

I bought my first bike from them one year ago, and ever since then they have been ridiculously helpful and kind to me whenever I go in to put air in my tires, or ask a question. They never make me feel stupid for my lack of bike knowledge. Instead, they teach me about it. Last night I went in right before they closed to put air in my tires, and one of the guys who work there noticed something on my bike and came over with tools and fixed it. He remembered when I bought my bike, and advised that I go to the service center and have them take care of something I needed done (that I wouldn't have known to do unless he told me). All in all, this place is awesome. Only one time there was a girl who was kind of cold to me, but she was probably just having a bad day. read more

We felt like we got a good trade in value for the rusty bikes we didn't want and were able to get one really, really great bike. Alex, the salesperson who worked with me, seemed to understand what I wanted and he did a great job fitting me for my ride. The staff allowed our 2 year old to run rampant, sucking the bike pumps and knocking over helmets. Yay for Recycled Cycles. Also, the mechanic who checked out our trade in's gave me an honest answer on one of the bikes - he said to sell it on Craiglist because the store would not be able to give us fair value. That is good service. read more

WORST BIKE SHOP IN SEATTLE!!! I have been in more than a few times but never again. Major attitudes, poor used selection and unhelpful personnel. Oh look, most of the bikes cost over $1000 - isn't the name of your shop RECYCLED CYCLES???? You guys BLOW!! Take your stuffy attitudes to Kirkland! read more
