Please city of Vallejo consider a new trash company!!! I have been trying to get three of my trash cans fixed for weeks. They refuse to change them out because they aren't broken in their eyes however every time one of my tenants puts too much liquid in them they leak all over. The supervisor came out to inspect the trash cans. It takes a lot of arrogance to park in my other tenants' parking spots and stay there as long as he did. My tenants deserve their parking spots ready for them whenever they need them. That isn't your place to park. Obnoxious company. I was telling my wife last night I should keep track of all the times I have to call them and all the times they skipped my account and sue them to get back all the money that is lost with them always wasting my time having to call them. Going to try to upload video of them examining their trash cans. I spend a lot of money on this company. They can work on their customer service. Update: emailed customer service directly and the president of the company after finding his email on the computer. Derek took great care of me. All my bins got changed and I'm assuming supervisor was aware of my complaint. Now I know how to escalate for future use. At least somebody there has their head screwed on correctly. read more

Around July-August 2024 they switched customer service portals. New account numbers. The phone directory even is different from what I remember. In the past they had a system where you could leave a name and phone number for a call back instead of staying on the line. I wish they kept that call back feature. I think it'll be a lot better in the future once the kinks are worked out. On the website they acknowledged the long phone call wait times and said they're actively looking to add more help. Personally I've always been able to get a hold of a person and they're usually very helpful. Last time I was on hold for about 10 minutes before being connected. In the past I've used their online contact form to set up service. Your mileage may vary if you're renting through a big box landlord and the account is in their name. But that isn't Recology's fault. I've called for bulky item pick ups three times in the past couple years and requested bins twice. It's always been very timely! They come when they said they would. Usually that means the next regular service day for your address. The garbage men have been kind. I once overstuffed the trash bin. They still took it that day but left a note saying next time the lid must be able to close or they will charge extra. It is a little unusual they bill quarterly in advance. But what can you do? There isn't a choice for your weekly residential waste disposal. But if there was I'd choose Recology over the competitor that services Fairfield any day. Updating my review to give credit where it is due. My staff contact was named Tequise and she provided outstanding customer service for a bulky pick-up, on top of a regular pick-up. Also giving props to the hard-working guy who drive the trucks every day. In my neighborhood, very reliable service, that is consistent. I have a serious question. Yes, you guys are doing everyone a service and taking the trash for everyone, but your company is also polluting by not having a cover over the top of the trash trucks. I'm currently driving behind a trash truck going into American Canyon and I have counted over 30 pieces of trash, fly out and just land on the side of the road. I have to write this since it's happened many times. But this one was the last straw. I watched this entire process from my living room window today (7-30-25) When Recology dumped my gray waste can the driver was off center when trying to pick up the can. It didn't fit into the jaws of the lifting mechanism correctly and as he lifted it tilted sideways spilling some of the trash. The can was 3/4 full when he attempted to dump it and not close to overflowing. He then had to get out of the truck and move the can into position so it would lift without spilling trash. And you'd think he'd be a good service employee and good example doing his job with pride by picking up the trash. Recology is an ESPOP Organization which means each employee has shares of the company rewarded to them each year. It's a great deal and it's designed to motivate employees to do their best so they can to make the company successful, respected and profitable. They own a part of the organization. Well he drove off and left the trash there. So again I picked the trash. I then called Recology, was on hold for 15 minutes and hung up. This has happened to me several times and the hold was longer. Again this shows the service levels that this organization has. It's a shame that they have no direct competition as it would shake things up a bit, but they get by with the bare minimum while we pay the costs. read more

I have lived at my current residence for 6 years. EVERY Tuesday after pickup, I have to clean my yard from all the trash Recology leaves behind. I have called them to let them know what was going on. I was told collections staff are supposed to pick up trash that spills. In the last 6 year, I have seen exactly 1 staff member do as they describe. The rest of them just drive off. So either the customer service people are lying or collection staff is lying to their supervisors. read more

You REALLY couldn't take this Recology? 3 feet by 3 feet just like YOU SAID! For the first time ever, I scheduled a bulk pick up with Recology. It took SO LONG to get in touch with them, but I scheduled for today. I gave the woman at Recology a list of everything that was going and OVERSHOT the number of bags just in case. The Recology guy came today and did not pick up. I called Recology to ask why, and they said there were items there I didn't list. I asked what they were, and she said there were 4 large broken plastic 4 pots. I told her I included them, and she said they HAD TO BE IN A BAG. The only reason he didn't pick up was because my garbage wasn't IN A PLASTIC BAG. MY PLASIC GARBAGE WAS NOT IN A PLASTIC BAG. YOU ASK WHY THERE IS SO MUCH GARBAGE DUMPED AROUND THE CITY? It's because when you TRY TO DO IT RIGHT, they make it so hard, that people will dump it everywhere. Now I have a pile of trash at the end of my driveway that will BE THE SAME PILE OF GARBAGE NEXT WEEK, except I'm sure someone will come and throw it all of the street by then. Their solution? They are either idiots or jerks. No other option. I feel that they purposely placed my yard waste bin right behind my sons SUV that was parked in our driveway. Which was a very long distance from where I had originally placed the bin. Long enough so that it took effort on their part to place it the distance it was placed at. My son did not see the bin , backed into the bin, which busted his tail light. My camera system shows them leaving the bin and later, I see my son hitting it. Think they will do anything about it? The driver dumps more waste in the streets instead of his dump truck leaving me to pick up stinky and nasty cat feces in front of my house. He does it every time he picks up the trash. A driver refused to pick up my recycle bin, even though the two other drivers picked up the trash and compost bins that were sitting beside the recycle bin in the usual spot in front of my property, and my neighbors bins right next to mine were picked up. There was a note left on my bin saying "can't reach with truck parked there." I called Recology Vallejo and was on hold for 30+ mins and had to leave a message when I called within their business hours. The next day I receive a message from their office saying I need to move my bins away from the vehicle and call back by noon. Good business when it comes to picking up our trash weekly, but terrible online payment system. They returned my payment despite the fact that there is more than enough funds in my account for the payment to go through, so I was charged a second time. This is the second time this has happened. I only need to be pay about $37 a month but they charged me $74 for this month. Hoping they improve their payment system because this is beyond frustrating and I should not be overcharged. read more

As a person with an 800 credit score, I simply want to pay my bill and receive the service I requested. Recology makes this extremely difficult with the crappy payment processor which rarely works and not following through with requests for service. I tried to downgrade three times over the past year and am still being charged $120 a month. They also tried to get money from me from a person who died at 92 years old -- the previous owner of the house. They wanted payment for a year worth of service for a dead person. They refuse to downgrade my service after several requests to do so. Also, payments on the kubra(worst payment processing system on earth) say they went through and do not go through costing me even more money in the long run. To top it off I am completely denied access to my online account to view past payments. I use a password manager but it would not give me access. After resetting the password, it is saying my account is now suspended. Sure seems like intentional scamming to me. I call and talk to people at Recology and they say they are going to downgrade my service , etc. and nothing ever gets done. I had to go to city hall to speak with a judge to get the relieved of the dead person's unpaid bills prior to my buying the house. Now I may have to go back to get the extra money I paid for service I requested be downgraded. About $1k. Complete scam of an organization, whether they are intentionally trying to scam people or not, the poorly managed service results in people being scammed. read more

The driver emptied the garbage with the electric arm, then noticed a bag had fallen into the street on the other side of the truck. He then got out, picked the bag up, threw it onto our sidewalk (NOT INTO THE GARBAGE TRUCK OR EVEN BACK INTO OUR CAN) and left!! Well it's now been 39 days without a blue recycle can. It's impossible to get a replacement due to Recology picking up my recycle can and not returning. Multiple calls, emails, Facebook messaging and the final visit to the Broadway Street Facility. 5 times I've been promised a replacement by employees. The last time I asked for a recycle can replacement from Roxy at Recolgy's Office she seemed fully capable and supporting of my issue. Very nice lady and positive interaction. But I've given them another 2 weeks during the Christmas Holiday and my pick up was today but no delivery of a recycling can. I guess with no competition and choice they can serve this way. We had to dispose of a box spring and found that you can bring them here and they dispose of it for free! Rented a U-Haul for $19 and brought it over. Friendly employee showed us where to put it and we were out of there! Easy peasy. The place looks organized and the staff seems nice. read more

I was excited to have an employee owned garbage/recycling company for our house service! But my experiences were mixed and now so absurd it is almost funny. I moved from the home I was renting in Vallejo in August and then received a bill in January. They said it was sorted out and would only charge the small amount due from the time period I lived at the home, and if for some reason it took the full amount they could refund it easily. Ok, cool. One month later the full (large) bill was indeed debited from my bank account. I immediately sent them a screenshot from my bank showing the debit. I also called them. I was replied to that they just needed a valid address to send the refund check to. Ok, cool. One month later I still had not received anything and was notified of a bill -$170. I also can no longer access my online account to actually view the bill. I email again asking for the status of the refund check and was told they have my address and it will arrive in 10-14 business days. ...ok. One month later it's been 20 business days and still no check. But I did just receive notification of a bill -$20. ...ok. I mean honestly 3 months to sort out a refund of a payment that should never have been debited is pretty ridiculous. I'm sad and unimpressed. read more
