This place came recommended from my dad's friend and it sure did not disappoint!! One distinguishing feature is this place does not buy back aluminum cans. So its only customers are selling actual metal. There was a bit of a wait since it's a very small business with only a couple staff. We had a bunch of stainless steel pipes/shelves, some copper, all kinds of items my dad had been saving. $98 in total!! First time here and had a lot of stupid questions, but staff was extremely patient and helpful and provided great service.

Great service/fair pricing/hard to find metals & unusual sizes are to be found here,shopped here for many years.

Very friendly people, however they do not accept cans, plastic, and glass anymore due to the pandemic.

Be very careful and aware when you go and sell your cans and bottles here. The guy working there tells the other guy he already weight the cans when he didn't then they throw it away and then they come up with I already paid you for it when they didn't even input the actual weight of the cans. Then when you tell the mexican guy to pay you he acts like if he did but the weight is not there because he didn't write it down and tells the other guy to throw them away so he is like I am not going to pay you and threatens with calling the cops when everything is on camera!!! Be very careful and pay attention other wise he will rob you!!! read more

Not bad. Sometimes they scrutinize the metals quite a bit which is understandable but they will also try and say something is contaminated which its not. They are probably too used to shady people bringing in buckets of random finds.. and they just assume is junk metal trying to pull a fast one and not pay the real prices. Its ok but there are a lot of other places that feel safer. read more

Great place for all your recycling. We take our plastic and cans. We also take all our old dead batteries that are no longer any good. Great staff and very helpful. Most of the time yard area is considerably kept. Only people waiting to turn in there cans, bottles, metals. Never had any problem, everyone in a usually friendly way. I totally would recommend Action Metal Recycling yard to anyone wanting to get rid of old metal and such just laying around their home. read more

I had tons and tons of e-waste to get rid of and I've always driven past Action Metal Recycling on the Richmond Parkway. I looked them up and made sure they accept computers, fax machines, electronics, etc. I pulled up and it was crack head city! It looked like L.A.'s Skid Row, with people going crazy and knowing exactly what to do. I was lost. It took me a second to find an employee and ask where to drop off my stuff. The employee was courteous and helped me unload my stuff and told me to get in line. Another employee weighed my waste and I was actually paid for my e-waste, which I was surprised by. Sure, eight bucks for thousands of old electronics is hardly a profit, but a dollar is a dollar. Oh, and they gave me a cool 2012 swimsuit calendar! #Winning! read more

Called them up to help recycle empty drums. Unfortunately they are not able to do this but was directed by Peter Jackson at Action Metal Recycling to another company that might be able to help me. Peter was extremely helpful and responded via telephone and email quickly with my questions. Great place to take all your recycling from cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles, etc. There's not parking a lot but plenty of street parking but I would suggest coming in early. They have lots of plastic garbage bins to help you sort your recycling and after you sort them then you just stand in line to have them weighed and then they pay you in cash. Such an easy process! One thing I like about them is they accept the water bottles caps unlike the recycling place off Pacheco. read more

Great place to recycle your cans and plastic bottles. I use to come here to dump scrap metal but today learned the owner sold the scrap yard. They no longer give you any money for scrap metal (steel, iron, etc) but you can still drop it off and they'll recycle it for you. read more

They are fast and helpful here.I save all my plastic and take it here for a few extra dollars.Today I got $36.00 for 10 kitchen bags of water and gatorade plastic bottles.Lots of parking. Just park and carry your bags to the weigh station, then a worker will give you some rubbermaid garbage cans.Pour your bags into the cans.The guy weighs them out fast. He hands you a receipt then wait in line for 3 minutes. Show the lady cashier your receipt and she trades it for money. And you did something good for the Earth read more

Well what can I say, this place is kind of grungy. I have been here maybe four or five times and it's a bit of the same story. I guess it's a good thing to have a recycle center close by and I suppose their prices are far. The downside is this place is always busy, the lines are long and there are some interesting characters every time. Above all it is what it is folks. read more

This place may seems intimidating to the uninitiated, but it's a fine place. The employees are polite and helpful if you ask questions. The other folks dropping off stuff have always been great. And some of the conversations are rocking fun! There's a knack to getting all your stuff into line, but watch & learn, or again: ask! Parking is a trick, so I will often pull over to the side of the road where I can, and wait for a convenient opening. Patience is the name of the game - if it's a zoo I will come back later, even if it's just 30 minutes later. (I'll visit Annie's Annuals - not too far away!) read more

Just got out of there. They suck! They recently changed rules about crv eligibility items. And I accidentally mixed three non crv glass bottles with my other glass bottles, so the weight staff labeled all of my glass items as non-crv, and I ended up with only 11 cents worth of glass recycling. He didn't bother to ask me whether I want to separate them, and he just wrote a bunch of codes for my recycling that I can't read. So not fair. I just lost a few dollars at this place. Good place to recycle they take all liquor bottles, most recycles places don't take certain liquor bottles in Richmond. They give you cash and they are quick to getting you in and out. read more

Don't go to this place. The last time I went, the lady at the window shorted me $20 and pretended it was accidental. If it wasn't for this other recycler in line behind me, she wouldn't had an extra $20 in her purse. Ok, now I'm really fed up with this place. Today(4/18/18), this is my 3rd time visiting this dump, so I know the drill. There's a younger guy working the scale now, he seems nice, but I don't trust him, why would he have such a smile on his face at such a horrible job? I dump 3 different types of recyclables into their garbage cans, plop them on the scale, get a receipt, go to the window, get my cash, and I'm on my way. Fast forward 8 hours to when I'm cleaning out my car. I find the receipt from earlier and I look at how much cash I got for each type of recyclable and #2 HDPE Non CRV shows 1 cent. Unit price is $1.60 and they weighed 2.8lbs, so why does the receipt say 1 cent? If this is some kind of scam fine, but if for some reason this center is not paying me for this bag of empty distilled water jugs that I know I pay for when I buy them at TARGET, I'd like an explanation when you hand me my receipt. Watch the person at the scale, analyze your receipt and count your cash at the window. read more

Contacted Mike from Action Recycling and had a very good experiences. Him and his company were able to help me recycle an office that we were closing out. They accepted everything the same day that we contacted them. I've been going to this recycler for over 5 years and I have found that they have become more and more RUDE and a RIP OFF..case in point..last week on 2/2/2012 I took a load of appliances onto the scale..2 ovens,1 washing machine,1 steel older dishwasher..The scale guy informs me that there is insulation in the ovens and will have to be dissassymbled and removed before they will take them..now keep in mind these are probably the 20th or more ovens I 've taken in...NEVER A problem before..Then he says "You wanna bet they got insulation in them"..EXTREEMLY RUDE..Then I asked "so you wont take them?..He says "yea will take them but we wont pay for them"...This is the magic sentence for me...RIP OFF...So I informed him that No Thats ok "I'll go somewhere else"..Well 20 minutes later..5 dollars of fuel I sold my load to my new recycler...ALCO In San Leandro on the corner of Davis and Doolittle..The Whole load...no pulling the ovens apart...actually they paid 73.00 for the load..much better than action..I only scrap a couple thousand dollars a year but thats a couple thousand that action will not be getting... read more
