Ok! Monday it was!…read more Got here during their lunch. When they open, you just go inside, grab a cart with available bins & sort out your recycle. The bins are very dirty so I suggest using gloves & bringing hand sanitizer. Plastic bottles: They advice removing the caps from the bottles. You just take them off & keep them in the bin with the bottles. No biggie. Glass bottles: They don't usually accept them. Since it was my first time, I didn't know this. Instead they put glass in the bigger containers, raised & moved around forklifts. The workers are quite friendly & helpful. The man helped me & explained everything. You will need a valid ID in order to get a receipt. There is a little window labeled "CASHIER." When you get the receipt, the window is blocked off with blinds. Someone is behind but you never see their face. They pointed at the signature part of the receipt with a gloved finger. Moments later, they just hand you the money... and that's it! The homeless people are quite harmless. They didn't bother or harass me. So it's all right. I actually enjoyed my experience. :) Fair warning!!!! They are moving glass bottles with a forklift, lifting heavy bins full of glass bottles that shatter loudly! So bring earplugs at your discretion.

Howard was FANTASTIC to work with. Stop researching for others and just call him…read more When I called he we courteous, he used text messaging afterwards for efficiency and we he was beyond pleasant to work with. Howard actually has a degree in Sociology and if you have the chance to have a conversation with him you'll realize that he is truly an enlightened person. He's also like a real life HULK - without the anger. He's gigantic but clearly a gentle giant. He was on time for his appointment, hauled away 1500 lbs of old metal piping for free (I gave him a $20 tip just because I thought he was awesome and appreciated his service) and we had some great conversation. He was thoughtful and careful when removing the items, placing effort not to scratch my house. Having a random stranger come to your house for any reason is never the most comfortable of situations. I'd have Howard back any time. Get him while you can, I'm sure he won't be hauling things for ever.

Am I going to give El Cerrito Recycling Center a bad review...NO! I was able to recycle used motor oil, regular AA/AAA batteries, Bluetooth Speakers, Computer monitors, Computer towers, printers, scanners, perhaps anything I am allowed to recycle at this location. I have been going to the El Cerrito Recycling Center since 1998. This place has gone through a lot of changes especially the parking spaces (yes I will continuing mention that). Thankfully nobody has DARE to trash this location and it is a good thing that they manage to keep the area in great condition. Keep the great work!

I went here the other day to dump the back seat from car. I am making my car into a 'racecar' so I…read moredon't need the backseats anymore. The friendly woman working the scales told me the minimum entry fee is $40. I almost didn't go in because of the high price. A lower price would encourage more people to go here and discourage illegal dumping. I did however pay the entry fee and dump my stuff. I don't want to get in trouble with anyone for illegal dumping, I don't want to hurt the environment, and car seats are way too big for me to put in my dumpster. So I feel good about not littering. One thing I like about this place is that I got to find out how much my car weighs. When I was a kid my dad would take us to the Richmond dumps, and I have to say, even though it is different now, it was fun to go back. 4 strong stars.

This place is a DUMP, but it still gets 4 stars from me…read more After recycling all we could at the El Cerrito Recycling Center, we decided to take the rest to the dump. We didn't have that much, but did't want to wait to put in the trash. Our garage was now clean! I've never been to an actual dump like this, so the experience was pretty interesting. You pull up to an attendant, he estimates the load and weighs the total vehicle. Pay your fee and head up the road. Unload and you are off on your way. Easier than I imagined. Downsides are the smell as you get closer to the dump area and the seagulls, but what do expect for a total DUMP? Lol.
