Only if it is Sunday and you are desperate to get rid of stuff. Way way overpriced and are tricky tack in charging you for the smallest stuff. Then, charge you with a fake bloated measurement yardstick, though other places charge by weight or specific recyclable materials like mattresses and large appliances and ewaste, they also inflate these prices and still charge by added weight and yardstick of your load. Triple charging you. Plus, to add insult, charge you a tax and fuel surcharge. Then I realized, "So does Waste Management in San Leandro. Which I also avoid as a business for the same reason. Their rules change every minutes, Their staff are bunch of rookies. I called their listed number to ask to Dump some dirt here they said its only 34 dollars a yard. I came here today with 7 yards of clean soil to dump from Oakland job site, they weighed my truck and told me to pay $934 dollars, for a dump fee, or take the load to a different land fill in Livermore California, or some place 40 miles away for less money! I offered to bring another truck to split the load in half, but their supervisor Ron, ran out side to where I was, with very antagonistic communication and rudely run me off the dump site, he said go back to Oakland and do it at your job site! These people got a big mouth/monopoly going on, no one can tell them nothing. I have given these people over $100,000.00 dollars in the last 4 years in dump fees. I will take my business some where else! I feel I've been truly insulted by these people! I like how this is probably the cleanest dump I have ever seen. It's actually pretty scenic from the hilltops of the landfill. And it looks like there is a solar farm and natural gas plant on the land, but maybe not. Anyway, my ONLY gripe with them is their charging rates. I come down with almost the same size load of the same material (yard debris) in the same truck and get a completely different rate every time. One time it'll be $30 and the next time it'll be $50. There is no method behind this. Do the rates fluctuate that much, or is the attendant just guesstimating my load? Anyway, the prices aren't too bad, just inconsistent. They're open Sundays which is a big plus for me. I'll keep hauling my crap here. read more

my contractor drove all the way from concord after being told by cathy with Contra Costa Hazardous waste program that this site would take our pressure treated lumber . We got a phone quote of $35 cubic yard. When my contractor arrived at the scale they asked what he had. He said "pressure treated lumber". they immediately said "We do not take that here" and turned him away. Beware of this company. I was just charged $105 for a cubic yard of clean fill. They gave me this price over the phone and I, after shopping around, decided it was easier to go to Richmond (since I live here) than go to Berkeley (which is half the cost) during rush hour time. When I pull up Ms. Castillo told me it would be $145. I asked what changed in the last 10 minutes, the gentleman on the phone quoted me $106. She said it was because she was at lunch. After arguing with her for several minutes she asked if I had a Richmond Sanitation Bill and she would lower the price to $106. It just so happened I had a old bill in my truck because my drivers license with my RICHMOND address wasn't good enough. I could easily have come with a bill that wasn't even mine since she wasn't interested in proof of who I was, only a bill. The last time I dumped clean dirt was 6 months ago and it was $48- (29.00/CY). People need to write the City of Richmond and cc: to Richmond City Counsel. To charge a homeowner $105 for 5 wheel barrows of clean dirt is ridiculous. Also Ms. Castillo, at the transfer station, needs to learn prices so the customer doesn't arrive and have to argue about prices that are posted on the wall behind her. A bit of customer service training might be a good idea as well. Please write the City of Richmond and cc; to the City Counsel to go back the the CY (cubic yard) price, otherwise these prices only encourage residence to dump fruniture and other items on the street because people can't afford these rates. read more

I came here to dump a half tacoma full...yeah literally a half tacoma full. I figured they weigh my garbage, nope, they charged me 2.5 yards which came out to $83. I'd figure my dump was minimum charge anywhere else. This place sucks, and it's expensive as hell. Avoid it like a plague. read more

I have hauled construction debris to this dump for numerous years. I have never had a problem with the employees or getting in & out of the drop off area as quick as we can unload our truck(s). Yes the rates are getting higher but they are still cheaper than Berkeley or Davis Street transfer stations. When we sub out the off haul of debris to larger haulers they all come to Richmond for the reasons mentioned above. If you go to the Berkeley transfer station they want your loads separated by various classifications (green waste, construction waste, organic debris, etc)....or pay an exorbitant rate for a mixed load....if they accept it. Anybody with half a brain will NOT haul dirt to ANY transfer station unless they have money to burn. No experienced hauler would take dirt or concrete to a Transfer Station. Dirt should be hauled to a landfill site such as Winton in Hayward, Martinez or South San Francisco. Concrete should be hauled to a recycle, crushing station for the same reason. It is too expensive to haul to a transfer station. Recycle concrete stations are a lot cheaper. It's simple. If you don't like this Transfer Station, go elsewhere.
