Wonderful evening! The atmosphere was cozy, the service was great - lovely staff was friendly and attentive - and the mood was France meets NY. We loved the roasted chicken, and the crispy mushroom appetizer. If you pop in this summer there is still time to enjoy the delicious restaurant week menu! If you like frite.... Hmmm delicious! Will definitely return. read more

We'd eyed this restaurant walking by. The vibe suggested 'good food is here'. And yes, the vibe is matched by the food. The fries from the steak frites are outstanding. The crab cake is excellent. Wine list is thoughtfully matched to the food offerings. Highly recommend. read more

Lovely staff, fun atmosphere. We were in a heated dining cabin, a party of 6, and we asked for the music to be turned down 5x and it never happened. The food was uneven. My steak was cold and two of the pasta dishes were too salty and had overpowering garlic. The fries were not hand cut and tasted it. It was very disappointing to have a mediocre steak with frozen fries that were lacking taste. The drinks were great. The desserts were just okay. The crème brûlée crust was firm, but cold. Like it'd been made a day before and was sitting in a freezer somewhere. The foie gras appetizer was not good. The mushroom flatbread was tasty. read more

Visited this spot last night. Overall experience was okay. I thought the lighting was way too dark upon coming in. Started off with a cappuccino that tasted more like a regular cup of black coffee instead of that nice foamy milk texture throughout. The staff was very friendly and attentive which was nice. We ordered the Branzino which was pretty good. The fish had a good taste and texture and was a good portion. For dessert, we had the creme brûlée which looked appealing from the outside. Once we took a bite out of it, it just was not good. read more

I've been going to Recette on and off for years. Yesterday evening I went for a couple glasses of wine and appetizers with a friend. The food, drinks, and ambiance were nice. Unfortunately our server made us feel uncomfortable and most likely neither of us will go back there again. While we were finishing our last glass of wine the waitress came over and asked us if we needed anything else, we replied no. She then proceeded to stand in front of us waiting, listening to our conversation while holding her card machine. It was awkward, so we said we could pay for the bill and she immediately shows us the card machine with the total. It felt like we were being rushed out of the restaurant even though we were still drinking our last glass of wine and the place was pretty empty. It's too bad we might have ordered more if we didn't feel rushed out of the place. read more

First of all, this place was completely packed, thats how we knew it was going to be really good. We made reservations and got seated almost immediately in the back by the kitchen. Our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. We started off with the octopus, French onion soup, and the escargot and of course our drinks, I had the Brooklyn desire which was delicious, sweet, but not too much. My gfs had shared a wine bottle. The octopus was great, however, I didn't like how they cut up the tentacles in small pieces, making it a little chewy, flavor was there, but they should keep that octopus whole, keeping it tender. The escargot was good, not chewy at all, buttery. I didn't try the French onion soup but my friend really liked it. For our entrees we had the wild mushroom truffle, that was absolutely divine! Creamy, truffle, goodness. My favorite thing on the menu. Beef bourginon was tender, and oh so flavorful, that meat was so super soft. The mashed potatoes it came with, was extra creamy and absolutely delicious, I liked that they had the mashed on the side so you can be in control of how much sauce was going in there. Steak frites was good, not the best, but nonetheless yummy. The French fries were super crispy and we loved it so much. For dessert, we received panacotta on the house. I've never had panacotta, but this was pretty damn good. The berries were fresh, and the panacotta so jiggly. *chefs kiss* Would definitely be back to try more on the menu. read more

efficient and friendly service is complemented by a delightful array of wines and delectable french cuisine. my suggestion is to secure reservations during weekends, given how busy it gets. my only feedback is that the steak was cooked to a medium when I asked for a medium rare read more

Recette - French Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

The ambience of the place is nice, but both mains we got were overcooked - the chicken was dry, and the medium rare steak didn't have a hint of red in it (though the fries were delicious). The Brussels sprouts had too much sauce that was too creamy and vinegary. The pizza/flatbread-y app was good though. If I had to go back, I'd try the beef bourguignon, since it doesn't require so much precision with the cooking time. read more

I love Recette -- it's a classic Paris neighborhood bistro/bar airlifted to Williamsburg. The food is very good, and the light-filled room is warm and cozy. Wonderful frites, Croque Monsieur and more -- the vanilla mousse dessert is truly special. Also, the waitstaff I've encountered on my three visits have been both warm and accommodating. And here's a special shout-out for our waiter yesterday, the friendly Osman, who provided personalized service beyond the call of duty. read more

Food was amazing and good the service was good and they are fast with it this place is the spot to eat at in Brooklyn and never fails ‍‍

New French restaurant in Williamsburg, filling in the void in the neighborhood for French cuisine. I am typically not a massive fan of French food but after Recette I might become one. The food is super flavorful, their steak frites is super juicy and flavorful and the fries extra crispy but not dry. Mushroom gnocchi are phenomenal too. Best of all is the service though. Super friendly, attentive, fast - water was always filled up. Great place for a date too! read more

Our airbnb was in the building right above Recette and we ended up going there 3 times during our trip. The french onion soup is something I'll be thinking about for a long time and the steak frites was phenomenal. We also enjoyed the lava cake for dessert. The staff was really nice, the ambiance is cute with all their plants, and the food felt high quality. It's not cheap, but it's worth the splurge every once in a while. read more

Came here with friends in our last night in NYC yesterday. Really loved the atmosphere. I believe the gentleman who helped serve us was the owner. Him and the other waiter were really wonderful. The cocktails were top notch. The linguini was really light and perfectly portioned. Panna cotta desert was SO good. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

We loved our afternoon with Recette!! The happy hour deals are great -- we enjoyed a french 85 and oui mademoiselle, both of which were very tasty. We shared the steak tartare and french onion soup as a starter. Both were absolutely delicious and had great flavor. We shared the braised short rib cavatelli as a main, and it was delicious but needed salt. Then it was perfect! Shout out to our server, he was wonderful, and very knowledgeable. We will definitely be back read more

The main entrees we're the beef bourguignon, steak frites and mixed mushroom truffle gnocchi and for dessert we had the pancotta. Everything was delicious. They did not miss a beat on the flavors on the food. The dessert was perfect for a lightness and the cappuccinos we're perfect for a quick me up to keep the night going. I will definitely returning here. Thank you Costa and the beautiful blonde waitress. Both amazing and delightful. Highly recommend this place read more

Highly highly suggest giving this spot a go before the word spreads, and FYI - the short rib cávatelli is 1000% the move. Also, Chef Chris Coleman is the absolute man, he came out to greet us and to check how the food and the experience was overall. Lucky to have this spot a few blocks away from me! read more

Recette came highly recommended on Yelp and I expected better. This is a French cafe with very basic fare. What really threw me off was their "brunch menu" which essentially picked up items from their regular lunch menu and added $3-$5 per item. So strange and so quintessentially Williamsburg. Fundamentally they are marking up a regular menu for a weekend. I wouldn't spend money here when there are several much more impressive dine-in options around. read more

Great food and a cozy atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive. Brunch is a busy time, but food was great and fresh.

Great French spot with nice cocktails! The steak frites are my favorite to get here. Friendly owners as well, love this neighborhood spot.
