One of the perks of being on maternity leave (before the baby comes) is that I have free time during the day to try out cool things. I've always wanted to experience a float tank and it's one of the few things that is recommended for pregnant women. I bought a Groupon for float and made a same day appointment at Reboot. After changing into their sandals, the staff showed me my room and explained the procedure. I showered and lowered myself into the pod. For my first time, I preferred to have the lid open to get more fresh air. At the beginning, I had a hard time relaxing and letting go. I ended up using one of the extra floatation devices for my neck and that helped me get more into it. You have to be extra careful not to put your hands even close to your face. I had no idea how salty the water was until a few drops hit my face. Even though I used to spray bottle to clean my eyes, I could still feel the sting for a while. I admit that about 15 minutes in, I was not really feeling it and was tempted to get out. But at some point, I must have fallen asleep and it wasn't until the voice told me that time was up that I realized so much time had passed. I exited the tank, took another shower, and headed to the lounge to blow dry my hair. I'm glad I tried it out and the experience was mostly positive. But next time I need to relax, I think I'll just take a nap at home. read more

I have been doing cryotherapy here everyday for the past 25 days and without a doubt have seen incredible results. Cryotherapy: Ive done cryo before, but what's awesome about whole body cryo here, is that you choose what setting to go on (beginner, intermediate, pro, or my favorite Cryo Pro) AND you choose the music played while in the chamber. How awesome is that? I totally jam out once I'm in there. After each cryo session, I'm filled with lasting energy while getting the best night's sleep. Cryo has helped my mental clarity and body SO MUCH. 1 month ago, I was averaging 11 min/mi for a half marathon. I ran 13 miles comfortably yesterday and averaged under a 10 min/mi pace. That's a whole minute cut off each mile, which to me is incredible within a short(ish) period of time. I can't speak on other individual's experiences, but cryo has helped me in so many ways-- one of the main reasons being its ability to keep my muscle soreness to a minimum. #Score (ice baths be gone!!) I HIGHLY recommend!!! Floating: I actually just did my first float today. What an experience!! You can choose to float with lights on or in the dark. I chose the dark and loved it. Never have I ever experienced something like that before. You are literally floating, all weight off your body. SO relaxing and a must try!! Establishment: The staff here are genuine and super welcoming!! Each staff member I've encountered here has given off such positive vibes, the interactions themselves make me want to keep coming back! The location is also super clean and stylish with its awesome decor of ambient lightings and hand painted walls. This place is very nice I just wish they would pay the workers a living wage. Why do they need to have you sign off of on a float that you already paid for and have you tip them on top of that? Make it make sense. If you paid them a living wage they wouldn't need the tips. I'm very disappointed in the company doing this to the workers. The owner/owners need to do better for their employees. The staff at this Rockridge location is fantastic. I recently decided to walk in on a Saturday to float and they managed to squeeze me in later in the day for both floating and cryotherapy. The facility is super clean and they do a great job of walking you through the steps to give a great experience. I am an experienced floater, but always in a room, not a pod. My hour was fantastic and I could have kept going. The pod is easy to get in and the water is a really comfortable temperature. I highly recommend floating if you need some deep relaxation or to tune out the world and connect to yourself. I will definitely be back to float, but for 2 hours next time. It was my first time with cryotherapy and it didn't go quite as well for me. I panicked a little and just knew I couldn't turn it around, and had to get out pretty quickly. Again, the staff was awesome and made it no big deal. I am going to try again on that one! read more

Absolutely loved my float experience. The facilities were clean and the staff were very helpful. It was my first float and I'm converted. I actually left feeling better and more relaxed then when i have gotten a massage and for a fraction of the price. We did our first float here yesterday and I loved it. From the moment you arrive you enter a new dimension, welcomed in very special way. The experience was unlike anything I've done before. It's not quite like floating in a pool, because it's effortless (due to the Epson salt). I asked for music the whole time, and the underwater speakers supplemented the float and the rotating soft lights perfectly. Most grateful for Reboot, their very friendly staff and for being able to open during this most challenging of times. Floating is a crucial part of my well-being practices and I tend to go once or twice a month. Being able to de-stimulate my brain and soak in the goodness from the body temperature salt water has become so important in dealing with the stress of the world. I have tried the cryotherapy and definitely am getting used to the extreme cold temperatures. Even though it is just three minutes, I do feel amazing afterwards especially when I know an hour long soak in one of the float pods awaits me. While I appreciate the options for music or light in the float tanks, I am a purist and have become accustomed to silence and darkness. It is such a treat to the parasympathetic nervous system and even on days when my mind is more restless, i always leave feeling more grounded and centered. Everything was so simple and easy, from booking to questions I had and to checking in and out. The entire experience was inviting and will have me returning. As far as the Cryotherapy... It was my 1st time. I'm not good with cold... like at all. However, I wanted to experience the benefits it offered on the cellular level to find out if it was for me. Anything encouraging wellness I'll try! What I noticed immediately was the biological anatomy of the female body come to my rescue after the initial 1st minute. Woman have a internal core of warmth in the center of our body and it'll save our life in hypothermia conditions for a certain amount of time. In other words (The kitty stayed warm) Every other part of me felt like ice. It was bearable though. Breathing through it is key. Post treatment I had hours of energy, I felt lighter and the initial inflammation and tight muscles I had from the stairmaster an hour before was completely gone. That feeling was incredible! That's what I hoped for and am excited to see other changes as I proceed. I did try the infrared sauna as well. It didn't do anything for me, or I seen no benefit in using it. The tech had to plug it in and I waited about 10 minutes for it to "heat" up, I think if it had been on for a while prior to my entry maybe I would've experienced the effect. Reboot is awesome! This was my second float (my first was at a place in Amsterdam), and I was keen to float again because I loved the experience the first time. Reboot did not disappoint. The receptionist was very friendly and she showed us a fun video so we knew what to expect (not the royal we -- I was there with a friend). Then she brought us into the pod room and explained the whole procedure to us from start to finish. The showers were lovely and clean, and Reboot supplies body wash and shampoo, the latter of which you definitely need to get the salt out of your hair when you're through (although I will say the salt water made my hair a great texture for the rest of the day). Unlike the place in Amsterdam, Reboot's pods have colored lights that cycle through each color. You can make it stop on one color if you like, or just turn the light off altogether. I liked the pink and my friend liked the "Welcome to Hell red," as he called it. The float is an hour, which sounds like a long time, but honestly, I would have loved to stay in the pod for a bit longer. I'm from NYC, but I'm definitely going to be back to Reboot next time I'm in the Bay Area. You should go right now! read more

I'm a first time floater so I was immediately drawn toward the modern, multi-featured pods displayed on Reboot's website. Booking an appointment was a breeze and it was nice how they sent a separate detailed email to let me know what to expect during my session. Staff are super friendly and chill. Interior design + decor were on point and I loved the white aesthetic they had going on. I was actually having a super stressful day after getting locked out of my house for a few hours, so the clean, soothing environment already put me in a zen mood. A team member escorted me to a private room and patiently explained the steps to enjoy my session. The room had all the amenities I needed: a shower, plenty of towels, ear plugs, q-tips, vaseline for scars, shower caps. For my float, I kept the interior lights on and the ambient music helped me drift off into space. I used the neck noodle for extra support and it didn't interfere with the quality of my session. The warm water temperature further helped my mind detach from my body so at one point, I felt like a floating brain. I know that's a weird way to describe something and it doesn't sound super pleasant, but being disconnected from my body helped me relax and destress to the fullest. Verdict: Clean and aesthetically pleasing facility, customer service oriented staff, and a great float experience. I'd give 10 stars for this place if I could. Oh and If you're claustrophobic, don't worry. You always have control over your pod and can even leave it open if necessary :) read more

We booked for the infrared sauna. It was a terrible experience. First of all I did not realize it was a box in the hallway next to the bathroom. Secondly, is tiny space to stick two people into. I felt like I was on display because people kept walking by is and using the bathroom which is right next to the Sauna. We did not feel comfortable at all and wore robes inside the whole time because we were so visible. When I told the front desk person at the end that it wasn't a good experience-- she said I'm sorry, but didn't offer us a reimbursement. They acknowledged it was an awkward location and very small with ZERO privacy. I did get a call from the manager the next day, but have yet to get my money back. My advice don't do the Sauna... I have not gone back to try the float. read more

Awesome staff, great experience. Here are some tips if you go: -Try to schedule a nighttime float, and when you go home, just go straight to bed. TV will be overstimulating. Your phone will be overstimulating. Simply enjoy quiet and konk out for- seriously, the best night of sleep you've probably had since you were a kid. - Since it's still chilly, maybe wear a hoodie to your float because your head will be wet when you leave. Hoodie or a hat. And pack a comb or a brush -They have a neck noodle thing in there- use that to start off with? For me personally, this is the hardest part of my body to relax in the tank. Probably because getting salt in one's eyes, does.... indeed, suck. -The buttons for the music & light inside the tank will turn on and off if you just lightly press them. -If you're slightly claustrophobic like me, don't worry. You'll be fine. You got dis. -Maybe you know yoga nidra meditations (or meditation techniques in general?) Those will help you to relax inside the tank. -DON'T DRINK CAFFEINE THE NEXT DAY. Omg!!! Just google "caffeine and magnesium". Basically, it depletes and undoes all the goodness you just took in floating. This is pretty much why I decided to come here and write this review. I ended up with a daylong, totally preventable headache and decided to throw out two canisters of coffee. If this is what it does to me, than coffee no mo'. (Maybe just shoot for a black tea) All of that being said...I'm glad this is now in my neighborhood. Floating is great. You should go :-) read more

I REALLY enjoyed my experience here! First time cryo, experienced floater here... The cryo tank I've wanted to try since hearing about the benefits from Joe Rogan. I'm not in any physical pain for it to releive, just wanted to experience it. It was GREAT! Not to bad at all, came out feeling terrific.. The float tanks they have are impressive! Huge and inviting. Mood music and mood lighting are a great added benefit. I got in there and floated away to the unknown. Asked the music to be played the first and last 5 minutes I'm in there so I know when to get out. Seemed like 42 seconds I was in there, that hour flew by! I agree with the awesome reviews for this Reboot Spa. The Spa experience, vibe and space is well done. New-ish and clean. More importantly, there is a high degree of 'sila' or calm energy at the spa. The pods are very cool. Be sure to not only ask how to turn the pod light off, but actually turn it off while they are still there. That way, you are not wondering how to make the light go off while your session is in progress (like I was). I am still learning to meditate (en-trance?) in the pod. But deepening a bit each time. Another tip I learned after a couple sessions: for the full cryotherapy effect, be sure not to do an infrared sauna or float immediately after. The maximum benefit comes from allowing your own body to 're-heat' itself. We're talking up to -200 degrees F. for 3 minutes. The infrared sauna is nice and I think it is a good prelude to the float. Also, a good time to go (I think) is after a good workout. If you do so, be sure to top up your fuel before the spa appointment. And take advantage of the no-cost hydration during your session -- teas, lemon water, etc. If you like music in the sauna, and don't want to listen to radio stations (!?!), ask for an orientation on how to connect your own music. Also for the cryotherapy session, you are asked what music you would like played. So maybe think about your choice in advance. The staff are generally killer. Very well informed; they appreciate the benefits and can articulate them comprehensively. read more

This was my first visit to the east bay location, and it is excellent, especially considering how new this location is and how the minutia of Everything matters so much for a fully satisfying float experience... Tarren and Audrey made me feel very at ease, and they had plenty of personal experience with the floats and cryo. Very relaxing place. However, they need to sync up technology. I purchased some online specials earlier this year. After my session, they had to comb through 3 accounts that were created for me to find my the specials I purchased. It was stressful explaining and showing proof I purchased the specials while 3-4 staff intensively looked at the screen and me. It took approx 20 mins to get everything in order. I love how they have different lighting options within. However I did it with the light off and lid fully closed to get the full sensory deprivation! It's been 2 days later and I am still feeling the after effects of joy and comfortable sleep (even though I went out late that day on Saturday and slept only 4 hours). My ultimate bliss is floating!!! I've been floating for two years now and it is absolutely amazing...Been with Reboot for a year and the new facility is gorgeous and huge!!! Got to meet Mike tonight the founder of Reboot great guy very pleasant and informative! This new place is very clean rooms are slightly larger than the spot in the city separate lounge area where you can relax and sip on some tea or cucumber water! I've had a few sessions with the floating pod, I originally went for a shoulder injury, and it has helped extremely, it has also helped with my anxiety, the staff is so polite and awesome. They answer any questions and are always checking on you, it's a very peaceful and encouraging environment. Love how they are adding other things to the spot since I've been going. First time here for my daughter and I. Very friendly staff. She explained everything about cryo since we are both a newbie. The treatment was helpful and it actually temporarily took my back pain away instantly. The cryo machine is by cryo science and it's the best! This place offers a localized cryo treatment or whole body. I tried localized treatment and my daughter had two visits one local and the other was whole body. The whole body cryo chamber is unlike other cryo chamber. The cryo chamber is for the whole body that includes the face. Whole body chamber is better since there is less inhalation of the nitrogen vapors that can sometimes make people feel dizzy or lightheaded. read more
