Date of visit - September 6. Booking my spot over the phone was very simple. Parking can be simple - I parked across the street in front of the luxury apartments. There might be parking in the neighborhood, but arrive early just in case. Perspire Sauna did tabling at a gym I used to go to some months ago and I had wanted to try it out for a while. Figuring it would be good to go for a ladies' day out, I planned this for my friend and I. To start, it's very modern looking inside, and quiet. It kind of reminds me of a One Medical office. For first timers, the cost is only $30 for your first session and if you share a room with a friend/spouse/partner or whoever, the add on services are only charged per room, not per person. Once inside of the room you can choose whatever channel you want and go inside the sauna. I like that if you need to take a breather you can just exit the sauna room. It's still a private space. Sweating is inevitable. Take breaks when you need to if you can't handle the heat. I noticed the pain from menstrual cramps was alleviated during my session, which was perfect for that time of the month as someone who does their best not to take pain medication. I also added in Halo-therapy - only $15 extra -, which is supposed to help in improving respiratory function, though I imagine this only works if you do it on a consistent basis. The associate told me how to control it in the room, but tbh I don't know if it was actually working. Would I come again? Sure! I did a 6pm session, and it was a relaxing experience. I left feeling rejuvenated, but also ready for a shower and bed. If you like saunas, you'll like this. The membership prices are also pretty fair.

I was introduced to this place through Yelp, and I am so glad that I was. It has completely changed my idea on saunas. My boyfriend and I immediately came back the next week and talked about the experience all week. Normal saunas are stuffy, difficult to breathe in, and all around very uncomfortable. I've never been able to withstand one long enough to even feel any benefits. This is completely different. Yes, the room is hot. But it's a very different heat that warms you up more than the air. You'll begin sweating before you know it, letting go of many toxins. I'm not usually one that sweats much, so it was a wild time to see so much sweat on myself! The experience is wonderful for many reasons. The first being the television that you can watch while inside. My boyfriend and I watched a season finale of our show on our last visit and time flew by so quickly! It's a great distraction from any uncomfort. The red light therapy is an added and very welcome bonus, alongside the colored light that you can change solely based on your preference. The eucalyptus towels after the session feel incredible on your face and help cool you down as well. I've tried many health trends and can spot a fad a mile away, but this is something that you can actually experience benefits from- even after one session. My boyfriend's back was hurting less and we both slept fantastic after both sessions. I can only imagine what consistent use could do. Like I mentioned, we immediately came back the week after the Yelp event to enjoy another sauna session. I am so thankful I was able to experience the event as this is something I never would have tried, and my partner and I are both obsessed now. We are curious when the Walnut Creek studio will open as it's closer to us, but we are currently looking at ways to try to fit a membership in the budget.

I got to try this place out with Yelp and I'm glad I did. It was a very relaxing experience. You get your own personal room so you can adjust everything to your own personal liking. Temperature, color and even entertainment. Bring your own water bottle they have a water station for you to refill. My only feedback is to fix the bathroom. It was wasn't flushing properly and there's only one so if it's clogged that kills the whole relaxing vibe. Overall great experience.

After my recent visit, I finally understand the hype around red light therapy and saunas. I literally slept like a baby that night and felt like I had just come off a full-body workout--but instead, I was simply relaxed, detoxed, and totally recharged. This might just be my new favorite self-care spot. First off, the location is great with tons of parking. The space itself is immaculate--super clean, well-stocked, and very thoughtfully organized. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, and I loved the extra touches that made the experience even better. I had the pleasure of meeting Emerald, who was working that day. She was so knowledgeable and patient, walking me through every detail, from how the therapies work to the benefits of membership (which I'm seriously considering now!). One standout feature for me was the TV in the sauna. I honestly wondered how I'd pass 40 minutes just sweating--but watching one of my favorite Netflix shows with the built-in speakers made the time fly. It completely changed how I felt about the sauna experience. I also loved being able to control the temperature and mood lighting--little things that made a big difference. NOTE: The rooms are private and come with locks--so if you're wondering, yes, feel free to get naked and enjoy the full experience! Total game changer for comfort and detox. Post-session, the cold towel and air-conditioned lounge were such a thoughtful touch--perfect for cooling down and easing back into the real world. I also appreciated the drink fridge and water refill station. Another tip: Make sure you hydrate before, during, and after--this truly made a difference in how I felt during the session and especially after. If I could suggest one thing, it would be to have showers or a locker room--but I get that it might change the overall vibe. Still, it would be a nice option. All in all, this was such a refreshing and enjoyable experience. I never thought I'd be a "sauna person," but this visit changed everything. Thank you for such a relaxing and rejuvenating time--I can't wait to come back!

I absolutely loved my experience here. As a person who HATES saunas with passion, I am shocked to be leaving this review! This was my first infrared sauna and my skin feels amazing after ONE session! I'd also like to add that I was incredibly hungover for this and would have probably enjoyed the experience even more if that wasn't the case.. The place is clean, staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, and it felt like the perfect self care treat. Unlike my dreaded regular sauna experiences, at Perspire, I spent 40 mins drinking ice cold water, texting my boyfriend, and watching Mama Mia on the TV provided. After working up a good sweat, we got out and had cold eucalyptus towels waiting for us. I will definitely be returning and adding this to my self care days!!

Wonderful sauna experience. Great amenities and service. My favorite part was watching tv in the sauna. Time flew by. I loved the different benefits with the color settings as well. The only thing I was a bit curious about was why they didn't have a shower. Regardless, I recommend you check it out!

The smell when you walk in is so refreshing! I went here for a yelp elite event but this is my super honest opinion. They have a 20$ intro offer which is a steal for a relaxing time. Everything is super clean and hygienic. You have the option of watching TV, using red light (medical grade red light therapy) and changing the temperature, colors and overall vibes. The infrared sauna itself is a bit small but because it's pretty hot in there I don't know if you can lie down anyway. While the rooms are spacious enough for 1-2 people, I would say the sound proofing could using some work to make the experience more relaxing. I especially loved the cold eucalyptus towel afterwards as it was such a refreshing contrast to the heat and I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The staff was also super nice and rebooked my appointment to later in the day when I was late. I'll definitely be back when I need a pick me up.

Pristine new infrared sauna studio in Berkeley! Friendly, welcoming staff and 7 private rooms that come w face and body towels and even a smart TV. Able to make an appointment on their website or over the phone and single sessions are $59 if you'd like to trial before signing up for membership. The most enjoyable part of the experience was learning about all the health benefits to this new type of red light sauna from detoxifying your body, burning calories, clarifying skin, and best of all, improving sleep (this benefit I can attest to)! Recommend adjusting the temperature to your own personal liking when you try. 150deg F was too hot for me.

After savoring a spectacular buffet at Fogo de Chao, we opted to visit Perspire in Berkeley - an immaculate, pleasantly scented, and inspiring sweat lodge that delivered exceptional customer service. Within the sweltering 150-degree environment, we detoxified through perspiration for a duration of 45 minutes, all the while consuming cucumber water and basking in the radiant glow of infrared lights. To prevent overheating, we utilized shields and eucalyptus towels provided by the establishment. Following our sweat-inducing experience, we desired another small meal and decided to share an entrée at Angelina's in Berkeley - specifically, the catfish and hush puppy platter accompanied by mac and cheese and a sweet potato mash that resembled a decadent dessert. I've been a member for about a year (?) now and am still loving it! Do I go as often as I would like to? Unfortunately not, since my schedule is very unpredictable. But I try to make time for a sauna session once a week. Shout out to Shawntrell, who is an absolute ray of sunshine!

I loveeeee Perspire! I come here once a week and it's such a great detox. The facility is always super clean and staff is always attentive.

Ask the Community - Perspire Sauna Studio - Berkeley

Is it possible for two people to book one room together?

Yes, all you need to do is write a note when you book in the app, or call in once you've booked. But prices are still individual.

Is there a cold pool to immerse myself in? I like going back-and-forth between a sauna, and a cold pool.

No, this is not that kind of sauna. You are in a room by yourself for up to 40 minutes with the infrared sauna on. Then you clean yourself with a cold towel and leave ;-)

I am used to the normal saunas, but I was pleased that infrared saunas still broke me out in a good sweat!

Overall my massage was good, the only complaint on the massage was I believe my masseuse had nails…read moreand they were sharp and would at time dig into my skin causing slight plain and discomfort. My biggest gripe is when it can down to pay I owed $120 for two people getting an hour massage and as I was paying and writing the tip I decided $10 for each masseuse would be good since it's slightly above the industry standard of 15%. And let's not forget that a tip is just that, a tip which is optional. I paid them what was due and some. But they were pressuring me saying how they usually get $20 each for an hour massage after I had already written $20 in the tip and $140 for the total. They kept saying how they USUALLY get $20 each for masseuse but they must not understand what the word usually means. It means most the time and that this time they weren't gonna get that and i wasn't going to budge because I couldn't believe they had the nerve, gall, and audacity to tell me how to spend my money especially on an optional portion when I could've gave nothing. Had it not been for my wife offering to cover the extra $20 I would've left them upset. So in the end I had to scratch out the tip and total I wrote so that they could shutup and accept the tip they preferred and requested. It's also very brave and presumptuous to assume I had the extra $20 to spare. And if I paid you're price you can't expect or ask for more tip especially when $20 is 1/3rd of the $60 price point which is a 33.3% tip which I would never imagine giving out. And if I couldn't afford the extra money and I was giving what I could they should be grateful for that. And if I didn't have the tip amount they wanted it's never any business's business to know my personal affairs as that could be rude, traumatizing, and very invasive. All that to say I enjoyed my massage for the most part but won't be returning due to their pushy nature regarding an optional portion of my bill. Please do better!!

Had a very unsettling massage at this location and would not recommend. The staff doing the massage…read moregot interrupted several times and was constantly in communication with another person throughout my massage. It was very disturbing and not relaxing at all. She seemed to get interrupted to pick up phone calls or let customers in and seemed very distracted. Overall not a good experience.
