Someone close to me got me two float sessions and a sauna session for the holidays. I just did the first one today and loved it. So calming and peaceful. Both folks at the reception desk were so kind, and I got a thorough introduction to the pod before my session. Everything is provided - even swim caps! I have long locs, and didn't want to expose them to salt or wait days for them to dry completely. They had a swim cap that fit all my hair comfortably and I'm very grateful. My first experience at Reboot was no less than life changing. It was a luxurious, all encompassing mind and body experience. The sauna was top notch, the cold plunge was therapeutic, and the staff set me up with Bluetooth so I could play music throughout the session. I have to give a big shout out to Max B. I felt silly when I couldn't figure out the bluetooth, but he was so accommodating. As well, the room he set up for me was so clean, pristine. I didn't get to look at any of the other rooms to compare, but I appreciate his attention to detail and his customer service. He gave me more than customer service, he gave me a customer experience. This was my first float experience and I thought it was great! However, BF's? Not so much (but honestly had nothing to do with Reboot, it was just him! LOL) Appointments were super easy to book online. We got there a few minutes before and after signing the necessary paperwork, we watched a brief video. Then, we were taken into our rooms (one pod per room) and a person showed us everything that we needed to know. There's a pre-shower and post shower and toiletries and ear plugs are provided. Once you get in the pod, you're in complete darkness and silence. Personally, its a hard for me to shut my mind off, but after a bit I was able to fully relax. When the time is up, music will slowly start playing and lights will come on. Now for BF's experience, he kept floating and his head would hit one side of the pod, and then he would float and his feet would hit the other side. He also itched his eye and got water in it (which is filled with salt water so it burned). Unfortunately, he wasn't able to stay in the pod for the whole hour, I think he got out around the 45 min mark. Overall, he said the experience was ok. For some people, it may be harder to relax, so just keep an open mind. But for me, I thought it was great and definitely felt calm after my session. read more

I had done a float somewhere else in The City but I tend to like this place and location better...friendly staff, clean, a very light feel to the place and great way to zone out. This location is new and the ladies up front are awesome in guideing you through the process. Arrived at 10am and was greeted with a friendly welcome by staff and Leah who guided us through the process of giving us slippers, filling out waivers, watching the intro video, talking me through the cryo treatment (shes with u the full duration of the treatment) and then walking my friend and i through the float process. First time getting the cryo treatment so thought of that scene from Star Wars when Darth Vader puts Han Solo in that carbon-freezing chamber..um yeah, a little nervous but I'm always up for trying something new once! My friend opted not to try it (ah come on!) as she was a little freaked out...Oh well! I was given the option to start and Beginner or Intermediate level which i believe is duration and freeze level...i'm here, heck give me the works...it did get a little intense and probably got out 25 seconds earlier than the 2 min session...legs were getting way too cold as the cold air blows from the bottom. Leah was awesome, and told me what she was doing, answering questions, and actually was there with me as i was in the chamber constantly moving....my bad for not putting on the face mask but i think i developed isicles in my nose! LOL...hmm...feels a little crunchy there...Felt different when i came out but not can pinpoint how...maybe, less tense? Anyways, then off to the float pods we gooo... Private rooms with a float pod, shower with pre- and post shampoo and body wash..It will take some getting used to if you've never done a float as your mind is going all over the place as you're left alone to chill, meditate, think...then little bouts of claustrophobia and drowning kick in! No worries, you're in good hands as you're in control of the pod - keep the 'hatch' open, closed a little or completely shut! You also control the lighting or opt for complete darkness which i did to shut out everything around me. The float went by pretty fast and you shower afterwards as you can feel to salt on your body...plenty of items provided for you such as hair dryers, hair products, Qtips, combs, etc. which is a big plus and makes it convenient. Scheduling an appointment online for myself and 2 friends was super easy...then having to change, reschedule, then cancel one appt. etc last minute. Coordinating with staff worked out without issue as long as u cancel 24hr in advance or be charged $25. 2 hour metered parking available on the street or some parking on the side streets...fairly easy for a weekday morning but can see if being a little hectic during dinner hours or the weekends. Let me start with the person at the front desk. I didn't get his name but even the way he spoke was relaxing. He explained everything thoroughly and did it all with a smile. The other stuff members were also very polite and nice. The rooms were clean, the pods were clean, everything was emasculate. I was nervous for the floating experience because I decided to do it without music, but the hour just flew by. It's true what they say on the website, after a while you forget where your body ends and the water starts. It was very relaxing. Quick tip: makes sure you have your ear plugs and adjust the lighting before jumping in to the pod. If you try to get out after getting in the water from your hair will flow your eyes and it will sting like a mother. I brought my own lotion and hair products but they really do have everything you need. They even have Shea Moisture leave-in conditioner so good lookin our for the natural haired black girls. Wonderful experience. Second time coming here and I need brought my mother after buying a mothers day package. Service was just as good if not better than the first time. The ladies are friendly, kindly answered all my stupid questions (first time and this time) not once made me to feel dumb about it. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. They offer tea and water as you wait for your pod to be ready. Everything is clean and hygenic. After the float i was able to hangout for a moment and reflect/collect myself with my tea in the lounge area. I felt refreshed and alot of my physical pains went away in the float, even if it was only for several hours (gym soreness). My mother also had a great time. My life has changed dramatically for the better since I signed up for cryotherapy at Reboot Cryo Spa in Oakland! I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis, cervical lordosis, degenerative disc AND acute gastritis. Though I certainly drew the short stick when it came to my health, cryotherapy has made a dramatic difference in my overall health and well-being. So much so, that I am able to do things today (physically) that I was unable to do only a month ago. First off, if you are coming for a float, make sure you do not have any cuts whatsoever. I guess I had scratched my head too hard that day, because it was super painful in the pod. But this is my problem, not Reboot's. I chose to leave early and they didn't make me pay which was nice. Unfortunately, if you are placed in a room near the front, there is noise leakage into your room, and you won't get silence (unless music is on). I tried to plug in my phone to play music, but the cord didn't work. The staff told me they would put on some of their music for me, but they forgot and didn't do it. When I cam in for my third time (yes, I really like the pod thing), the manager helped me find it by cuing up different tracks and listening to them before we selected it. The saunas at this place only go up to 140 degrees - too slow to get a real sweat on in the short sessions. For the price it should be able to go higher, IMO. The facilities are also not very detail-focused. Ikea shelfs, equipment strewn about the room - not very relaxing. I tried to get a glass of water and nearly knocked over the whole shelf when I turned the water jar's knob, it was so shaky. The light in the room goes off automatically when you're in the sauna, and then turns on when you go to the cold dip, so it's going on and off the whole time, which is also not relaxing. The buzzer on the sauna is not the nicest way to end the time. I'd save your money and go to Archemedes. read more

I have done the whole-body cryo, which was invigorating and exciting albeit very brief. I just did the float, and I loved it... I can't wait to do it again, it's incredibly relaxing. Very relaxing float session. This was the first time for me and a friend; and the first time at this facility for another friend - I had suggested going here based on positive reviews and relative newness of the facility. Warm welcoming staff. Nice introduction to the process - after signing waivers on iPads, you watch a video which explains the process. Clean facility. Love the environment, lighting, room and water temperature (although my friends said it was too warm for them). The pod is reminiscent of a sci-fi vessel - it's very cool with the lighting options, and hydraulic exit mechanism. The shower area is ample, clean with nice fixtures, and there are plenty of towels. Have to be step carefully because the floor can be wet and slippery from pre- and post- shower, as well as climbing out of the pod. Nice waiting area in the back to hang out before and after the float - low lighting, deep comfortable chairs, water and hot tea available, as well as an area with hair dryer, lotion, etc. that you can use afterwards. Temp was kind of cool there though so suggest bringing a sweater. Some notes: 1. Given a choice of music or silence, we opted for music, but it didn't come on until almost the end, my friend said that the music could have helped her anxieties about the new process. She and I kept waiting for it to be turned on, and since there is no way to communicate to the front except by climbing out of the pod and going to the door, I wasn't going to do that for the music; so we went without. 2. Robes should be offered as a matter of course (maybe they want to save on laundry by not offering one to each customer, then if not used, they'd have to wash it?), or at least, offer one in case a client feels they might need to go. Else, if you need to use the restroom in the middle of your session, you have to wrap yourself with a towel to go get a robe, or get the attendant's attention. Having said that, when my friend had to go, the attendant came over to assist with a robe very quickly. 3. While the procedures are explained in detail - it is done at a fast clip, and you have to remember a lot of new things about the pod lighting, opening and closing the pod, use/location of the spray bottle and towel in case you get salt in your eyes; use of head floats, earplugs, Vaseline; and the shower. I would add pictures of the entire pod and shower area to your Yelp page. (Note: the e-mail notes to clients prior to their session should be amended to state that while earplugs are provided, one might want to bring one's own special plugs. My friends both got water in their ears which muffled their ability to hear for awhile after the float even after using q-tips.), and one friend said that swimming ear plugs worked for her in the past. 4. I asked if there was a panic button or some way to communicate to the front in the event of an emergency Since you are left in peace for an hour, if something untoward were to occur, you would not be discovered until the hour was up unless you were able to get to the door and wave down an attendant. (What if a client has a panic attack in the pod?). Is this the norm at float spas? Overall, it was a positive experience, I would return, want to see if I can achieve a deeper relaxation session now that I have less anxiety about the process and know what to expect. I would also recommend this location to friends; and Yelpers who are looking for positive opinions of Reboot Float. Parking was easy because we had late Sunday afternoon sessions. I've known about sensory deprivation tanks for some time now and have been a bit scared to give it try. I'm the type of person who absolutely loves peace and quiet. Being around too much commotion gives me anxiety, so the experience actually turned out to be amazing. I've been going through a lot of stressful situations lately, so I decided to book my first float. They make you watch an informational video on what to expect. The float turned it to be amazing. I felt like I was on a cloud, just me and my thoughts. At first I kept the pod door open. Once I was comfortable I closed it. Then I progressed to turn the lights off. It was cool, but the music actually made me feel too distracted, so turned the lights back on right away. Next time I won't have any music at all. Ugh, can I rate this higher please? They really outdid themselves with this new location. After having gone to Reboot in SF and becoming a member, I was excited to check out their new facility. It's much closer to me and I really LOVE the area. This location has a much warmer front and will definitely pull in the passer by as it is a much more walkable spot than the SF location. It's well lit, inviting, modern, and just generally cool looking. My favorite addition to this spot is the mellow lounge area and chairs in the back. After your float it is not that much fun to be thrown onto the street. It's nice to acclimate for a couple of minutes. Grab a cup of complementary tea and reflect before propelling yourself back into the world. This facility has a cryo booth which I am incredibly excited to try. It does look a bit intense/intimidating just to look at which I think makes it super cool (no pun intended). The people could not be nicer. Super accommodating and friendly. The tanks are I think slightly newer models of the ones they have in SF. The one thing I did notice was it was a bit smaller. I'm 6'1.5" and in the SF tanks I have been in I can reach out my arms to the side and over my head with moderate room. No big deal, just an observation. I've been coming here to float for a few years now. I have a history of upper back issues and more recently some sciatica trouble. Every float session is like a spinal reset for me and I always walk out of Reboot with a newfound calmness and rejuvenated spirit. The staff is beyond friendly, welcoming and informative. Difficult customer service makes it harder to justify booking with Reboot again. I made a reservation a few weeks ahead of time for a Sunday evening float for two people -- it would be both our first times. A week before the scheduled reservation, I got ridiculously ill, but a few days before that Sunday, I began to feel better. However, I decided it'd be wise to be at 100%+ health before I tried to float, so I called in with more than 24 hours prior to the reservation time to cancel. The first woman I spoke with Saturday morning told me she cancelled the reservations and that I would get an email confirmation for the cancellation. I also confirmed if I would be refunded on my card, since I had paid for the two floats in advanced. The biggest catch here was that instead of refunding you automatically, they "credit" your account instead. In this case, I had two credits for two floats, should I decide to book again in the future. Supposedly for convenience's sake, so that you don't have to whip out your credit card and pay again online. I personally don't care for that convenience -- I will input all info again as needed. I told her I wanted a refund instead of the credits, and she said she would honor that. Fast forward to a few hours after the initial call, I get a text informing me that I was still set for the original Sunday reservation (meanwhile I had not received a cancellation notice from my earlier phone call). What? First thing Sunday morning, I call again. Turns out, when I had requested to cancel...it was never honored! I was still on the books to come in. A different woman informed me of this hiccup and cancelled the reservations again. Yet I still did not receive a confirmation email stating this. Finally, I decided to visit the spa in person to get things straight. Thankfully, the reservations were cancelled. But I still wanted a refund and a confirmation of the refund. Again, the woman at the desk gave me the credit run around bullshit. At this point, given the need to haggle them in person, I just wanted to be ensured I was getting my refund and be done. I'm sure I would've had a pretty good experience if I hadn't gotten sick, which led to my need to cancel. But my experience with their customer service (which is truthfully the front end initial experience at any spa) turned me off to wanting to book again in the future. Do you care about customer satisfaction, or just the money? I just cared to be done and out of there. read more

I come here once in a while for my floats. All my previous floats were amazing! Excellent experiences! Though this last time i went it was subpar at best. I know this isn't really for sensory deprivation but i def wish the pods near the front were a little more sound proof as to really create a more peaceful mediation for myself during my float. Probably my fault for not having music playing in the pod to drain out the noise. Another thing that kind of struck me as odd was the water temp. I figure it was supposed to be body temp, that certainly wasn't the case this time. It was at best room temp, so a little cooler them normal. My first experience doing a full body cryo session The check in was great. they provided all the necessary gear to withstand the cold. Comfy socks, robe, gloves, face mask, etc. the instructions were very straight forward. A song of your choice plays during your session in the chamber and the clock is seen at the window. Every 30 seconds, rotate a quarter clockwise. The window should open at the very beginning to give her the "thumbs up I'm good" signal, to view the clock up top, and alert the lady if I need some help. I walk into the chamber. The door closes behind me. The music begins. And the window never opens. It's my first time and I'm in this tiny chamber full of fog. I begin to have shortness of breathe. I can't see anything around me and it's too foggy to see the clock. I knock on the door and she didn't open it. Mind you I am in an entirely closed capsule. So here I am, freaking out the entire time. Finally the session is over, the door finally opens, and the lady nonchalantly says, "oh the window was stuck for some reason." Like that was okay for a first timer like me. But I got a well deserved, complimentary hot cup of tea at the end of it all! Cool. read more

I was honestly a little nervous to try floating. Me, alone with my thoughts in a confined space for an hour sounded a little intense. I was so wrong. It was one of the most relaxing things I have ever experienced. The staff was great answering all my questions, and the introduction video was informative and also included some laughs. They spared no expense when building this place. From the furniture, to the showers to the pods themselves. Everything is beautiful. I am now writing this review after my toddler just had a solid tantrum. I found myself much more relaxed during the tantrum and was able to calm her down easier as I remained calm. The ambience in the room is so nice and relaxing! You have plenty of time to get in and out of the pods and they supply everything you need (ear plugs, face wipes, etc.). (FLOAT) What a fun experience and completely hooked! I booked our appointments with the V-day deal. One pod per room, so you are separate. We first signed the waiver then the associate took us back to the room. He then briefly introduced us to the pod, the environment, rules and what to expect during the session. I do wish he took more time in explaining the whole concept. I think he just assumed we did our own research. There is a shower in the room, you pre-shower with the pre-soap to get rid of your dirt and oils. Then in you go. Be expected to be fully naked and get wet all over except for your face. You can adjust the lighting in your pod and even the music. (Only axillary cords are provided) Earplugs are provided and all the toiletries. They are very thoughtful with all they provide. So you could easily do this during your day and then be fully ready to carry on with the rest of your day. After the session you do shower with the after soap and shampoo. I did, however, shower once I got home. As for the experience during my float, it was fantastic. 1 hour seems long but it flew by. I had my pod slightly open to let air pass but I got cold. Pods look very intimidating but not at all once you're inside. I was afraid to feel claustrophobic but 100% did not. There was so much room inside. Hard to imagine yourself floating but you do with how dense the water is. They do provide neck pillows to help your head stay afloat. I ended up removing it half way through the session and thought it was much better without. I felt so weightless, calm and got lost with the music. I loved everything. Great first time experience with cryo. I tried the cyro-Pro (the coldest you can do) If you frequently do cold showers, you'll be fine. Best part is that you can pick your own SONG off their Spotify - which should help you cope with the 3 minutes in the chamber. The team there is really courteous and friendly.
