The contractor (Berry)- initially, seemed like a cool, professional and trustworthy person. As time went on he was harder and harder to get a hold of and it was the same bs line every time, "ugh, I've got so many clients, sorry I didn't know who you were". I think you can tell at this point I don't like the guy. My wife paid him too quick, this was something I was against from the start, I said not to finish paying him until we were sure everything was completed to what was discussed and now I can't get a hold of him at all, for a job that isn't finished. He sent someone out once to fix the cabinets that didn't close right (due to the team, you can read about them further down), they still don't close right. Our bathroom sink is missing paint at the bottom of the cabinets and parts of the paint are cracking all around the bottom piece of wood, once again this is how it was installed. I could understand if it were months after the job was done, but this was upon completion. The guy he sent out agreed with me that the sink should be fixed and that Berry would get on it as quickly as he could. When I did get a hold of Berry he said the same bs "ugh, I've got so many clients..." then he told me he'd go over the pics that his employee took and get back to me, that was quite some time ago. So for the people reading this, do yourself a favor and spare yourself the time, hire someone else. A contractor that actually wants to help you get what you want completed. Not one that just wants to add to their bank account. I give him a 0/5
Plumbing - stellar work. If I had to pick one thing that was done the absolute best, it would be the plumbing. The water flows better than it did before the renovation. The guy did hands down, the best plumbing work we've ever had done and went the extra mile for us, checking in making sure everything was to our liking. The guy even gave us an extra day to allow us to wait for the hardware my wife ordered/wanted so badly, when she was just going to select a common shower head from a store to have it installed to meet the time requirement, the time requirement that she was being pressured to have met by Berry. The plumber did work in the shower as well and it came out surpassing our expectations. There was even something that from the beginnings of our meetings with the contractor I had expressed the need for it to be done and we met with the contractor no less than 9 times, so you'd think the guy would remember or take a note but he didn't but so grateful for the plumber that checked in with us to see if all was satisfactory. He gets a 5/5
Cabinet installation - the guy that did it, installed it on his own and did a beautiful job. He even had to install a separate counter with drawers, also did it on his own and it came out amazing. He put the entire kitchen back together beautifully. The guy made countless cuts with no errors leaving my wife and I shocked at how beautiful it came out. The same guy even came back to install an electrical outlet on the separate counter top and he was a really cool, mellow person. He did the cabinets upstairs too and same thing, perfect. 5/5
Bathroom shower - the guy that did the tile was awesome. We met with him two or three times and his work was to perfection. We told Berry about a change that was to be made to the color of grout and when the tile guy showed up Berry hadn't told him so naturally the guy wasn't happy but he did have an unprofessional attitude about it the rest of the time when it wasn't our fault. The tile came out beautifully in the shower, just having a problem contacting the contractor to make sure that the grout was sealed as with a few other things. 4/5
The team that did the initial construction in the kitchen did a really bad job and I'll post pics of it. Now with drywall you can make your cuts a bit off and once you throw on some mud, no big deal. This was ridiculous though: it looks like, pre mud and finish, they cut the drywall with their teeth and one of our soffits isn't even level. You can buy a level from target for $4 and I think that's necessary to not screw your client over. I'm not done yet. You'd think they would have also measured how far out the soffit came throughout the kitchen, well they didn't so the fascia boards are uneven throughout the kitchen. I give this crew a 0/5. Really bad. On top of that during their shift one of the guys would move our cameras, which were nowhere near his work area.
So all in all that's 14/25. The only thing keeping his business afloat are his plumber, tile, and cabinet workers. read more
