When I first started school at UCI, I kept getting these flyers from random people on at UTC that said something like "Ray's Pizza! The best in Irvine!" I thought it sounded so pretentious but I gave in one day and tried it. The pizza is hella good. I love the thin crust and it's packed with flavor. It's so much better than Z Pizza or Gina's. Ordered a large pizza, 1/2 veggie, 1/2 carnivore, several toppings on each side. Came to $28&change! For one pizza! Their Large is like a Domino's large, btw: ie, everyone else's medium. For that hit, I could have ordered a pair of similar sized 'zas from Pizza Hut, with drinks, and had it all delivered... I've never been impressed by their pizza by the slice, and after this I won't be going back. There's Z pizza in the same complex for the chi-chi 'za lover, and Gina's a couple blocks over for better pizza than Rays for at least the same hit. The base price on Ray's pizzas [thin crust, some sauce & cheese] is too high, and their per topping charge is ridiculous. And the price for 1/2 a topping is 2/3 the overinflated full top charge, go figure! Bottom line: Price: high Quality: medium Value: poor read more

Best pizza near campus - the 2 slice/soda combo is a must! Their ravioli is great too. And Ray is super nice and gets to know his repeat customers. The food comes out fast, and it's always tasty. Definitely one of the better lunch spots in University Center. read more

I'm very sad that I've been living in Irvine for almost 3 years and I'm just now learning about Ray's. Ray's is hidden in the University Tower on Campus Avenue in one of the dark recesses of an Irvine Company structure. I normally just order pizza from Gina's, yet still longing for New York style pizza. Ray's is about as close as you'll come from ordering a slice of pie from the garbage-filled streets of NYC. The slices are thin and packed perfectly with the proportional amount of toppings. Unfortunately, I'm going to be moving to New Zealand in a few months, but I'll definitely be making a few more stops to Ray's before I leave. read more

Rays pizza is tasty, but after coming back from Brooklyn it leaves something to be desired. With that said, if you are in the mood for a good slice then this is the place even if it doesn't match NY pizza (but who does??) I haven't had rays in a long time. Prices are OK pizza is also OK. Somehwat average to slightly above average. Limited indoor seating. Mostly an eat and go type of place located next to the university. The pizza is thin and not filling. The daily special is a joke..its not really a special. Its just two pieces of pizza plus a drink for regular price. Don't be fooled. Go to this place if you're desperate for pizza. Okay. I love thin crust pizza and that is def what Rays specializes in. Their crusts are a little on the extra crispy side, and the sauce/taste itself is kind of bland. Ive never had to add salt to a pizza ever before i ate here. Not enough cheese/sauce for me. I really wanted to like this place. I knew something was wrong when I saw a pool of grease in the middle of the pie? That's NOT good! It honestly tasted like a pizza I thought you would get from Costco before going to Costco. But Costco's pizza is actually a few grades better. It's also a shame that they're using the "Ray's" name from all the famous Ray named pizzeria joints in New York & it probably doesn't even come close. This is a little pizza joint in the University Town center, tucked away under the trees nearby the Peete's coffee. They serve an east coast style pizza, somewhat greasy, but that's how they make it in the East Coast and Rays brings it here. It's A-ok. read more

Great for a quick slice of pizza. The older guy with the glasses (Ray?) always calls me "sweetheart" (or something similar). They have those cool arcade games, but I've never really seen anyone play them. Space is pretty tight, but they don't need much more. This has been a favorite for me and my friends ever since high school. Located in the back end of the UCI marketplace this place is tucked away while in the same area there is a Z's pizza. Always come to Ray's for sure! The pizza is amazing with its fresh ingredients and awesomely delicious thin crunchy crust. The pasta is moderately good nothing to rave about and the salads and sandwiches I have heard are pretty bad. If you are coming here don't even think of getting anything other than the pizza! There are some downers though. The pizza is relatively expensive but well worth it and you have to pay to refill your soda which already comes in an EXTREMELY small cup! WTF read more

I love the cheese pizza at Ray's. When I go, I like to get the two slice combo and drink. Somewhere between $6 or $7 though. I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's on the pricey side. My pizza always tastes freshly made and they add basil to it which is muy delicioso. I'm not a big fan of their other menu items though. I've had their lasagna and their cheese ravioli's and it was okay. Their side salad's are average as well. If you go to Ray's definitely stick with their pizza. Don't waste your money on the other pizza joint around the corner ;) read more

I'm generally not a fan of thin crust pizza but this is one of the few exceptions. The crust is thin but crisp and is a local operator. I've gotten to the point where I avoid pizza chains and it is nice to find small businesses that still make good food at a reasonable cost. read more

If you have had a SLICE in NY, you know that many of the places in the city have the word RAY's in their name, Original Ray's, Famous Rays, Original Famous Ray's clearly this is not the Original one and they guy that owns it is not Ray. But it's pizza that is about as close as you will get to a classic thin crust slice of cheese pizza. Big, affordable and tasty. Ray's is great! It is the best pizza I have found in Irvine. The pepperoni is significantly better than every other type of pizza. However, most people realize this, making the pepperoni pizza unavailable a lot of the time. It is for this reason that I am giving 3 stars rather than 4. Ray's does not have a good turn around for fresh pizzas. They usually don't start making a new pizza until another one has sold out. If you can get what you want, then Ray's is great, if not, then it is just another pizza place. Great location. read more

Do yourself a favor and go to this pizza place. It is next to Trader Joes across from Peet's Coffee. Best pizza I've ever had. Authentic New York style pizza and amazing customer service. First off, the atmosphere is perfect for it's location (right next to uci). There is a tv showing basketball, casual tables, there are arcade games here, and delicious pizza. This place probably serves the most authentic NY style pizza around. Ray is welcoming and friendly and adds to to the comfortable atmosphere that rays pizza has. I would def.
