    Slice of cheese ($3)

Long live Ray's! I used to visit Ray's once a week about a decade ago; my first office was in the 4199 tower. Just happened to be strolling through University Center tonight and hello Ray's! You're still here! Was going to call in for a slice but convinced my husband to split a small cheese with me. Came out in about ~15 minutes and was fresh, fresh, fresh! Miraculously, we ate the entire pizza then and there (8 slices). They have some nostalgic photos of New York on the walls and also have one of the old school Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games that you can still play for a quarter inside. They have some combo specials (two slides and a drink, or a slice, salad and drink, for example) that you can take advantage of. Not quite NY pizza (dough needs to be crispier on the bottom), but a good pizza nonetheless. 2024: 89/100

I initially walked in just wanting to purchase a Diet Coke to go with the wrap I had bought at Trader Joe's, and when I came in I was immediately greeted by the kindest older gentleman I can only assume was Ray himself. He told me he is the older business within the university town center, has been their 38 years and has served countless Anteaters! Now mind you i only went in for a Diet Coke originally but after Ray asked if I wanted a pizza I deliberated and eventually said, 'you know what, give me a slice of the veggie' ... to which he responded "You're gunna love it!" And you know what, I did! I have to commend them on how they cook their crust, perfection... the bottom was perfectly crisp without being overcooked and the rest of the pizza was solid. This is not a gourmet establishment, so don't expect overly fancy pizza, this is for those that are looking for a solid, yummy slice of pizza and a throw back vibe- my kind of place! Not to mention I noticed all the customers he was so interactive, kind, knew their names and treated them like family. I highly recommend :)

Pizza was exactly what I was craving! Made quick and was delicious. Cant wait to go back and try more. Got one cheese pizza and one pepperoni, half mushroom half sausage. Staff was friendly. Ate a slice of each in the car because we couldn't wait .

Super delicious quality pizza! Crust is nice, thin, and crispy. Tomato sauce tastes homemade and well balanced! Great prices, go check it out.

You can never go wrong with pizza, and Ray's does a great job of sticking to that standard! Their pizza is classic, cheezy, with a thick fluffy crust, and lots of typical toppings to choose from. I would like to think that they has really mastered the basics - which is my gold standard for a restaurant when I'm craving a quality, straightforward pizza. I also tried their garden salad - which wasn't anything special, but I thought was a good amount for the price, and was loaded up with fixings. I haven't tried their pastas, but they looked (and smelled) really good, so I will definetly be back at some point!

Slices fast and easy and crispy!

4 Stars is right for Ray's. If you're hungry for fast slices this is the way to go. Was hoping for awesome sauce or something with a more NY taste but about average on sauce and cheese meaning it's hot. To get that flavor you'd have to pay a lot more it seems these days so this is still a good deal. Good idea to be ready at the register or could end up No Soup for You. Overall got my fill with some really crispy thin slice dough. That's was nice!!!

I usually come here for lunch while I'm at work if I'm in the mood for some comfort food. I could choose any other place at UTC, but Ray's Pizza is my go-to greasy spoon in Irvine. I normally go for the $11 two slices and a soda deal. The pizza is pretty hearty and if you're looking for comfort pizza, this is it. It's good for the price and if you just need a quick bite. Service has always been friendly. It's indie owned so the cooks and staff pretty much know you if you're a regular. The ambience is very much geared at the college students at UC Irvine but anyone can enjoy this greasy spoon. I prefer eating outdoors. Tables are usually cleaned often. Parking is not too hard to come by.

One of the best pizzas I've had in OC! Super fresh, flavorful, and you can tell the owner truly cares, such a kind man who takes pride in his business.

We were seated on the outdoor patio, which had the perfect ambience as the evening started to settle in. We started with the Fritto Misto, which was awesome. The calamari and shrimp had just the right amount of breading, and the arrabbiata sauce pairing was spot on. For dinner, the three of us decided to share a few dishes: the Branzino al Sale, Margherita pizza, and Spaghetti allo Scoglio. The Branzino al Sale had a great tableside flame presentation, and they deboned and filleted it for us, which was really impressive. We were super excited for it, but unfortunately it was way too salty for our taste. We mentioned it to our waiter, and he handled it really well by switching it out for the lamb chop special of the day. That ended up being the star of the night, honestly one of the best lamb chops we've had. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and tender and love the chimichurri sauce with it. The Margherita and Spaghetti allo Scoglio were both very good as well. To finish, we shared the Affogato, Panna Cotta, and Tiramisu, and all three desserts were amazing. Despite the issue with the branzino, the service was excellent, the patio ambience was great, and this is definitely a place we'd come back to.

Our server was, I believe, from Italy, which made the experience feel even more authentic. He was very friendly, and had that cheeky, no-nonsense charm that somehow made the service even more enjoyable. What I appreciated most about Oliver's Trattoria is their philosophy toward pasta. So many restaurants load pasta dishes up with proteins, vegetables, and a dozen other distractions. Here, the pasta is the star of the show. Everything is handmade, and the dishes are designed to let the pasta do the talking. Cacio e Pepe (9/10) - Phenomenal. It's surprisingly difficult to find a cacio e pepe around here, so I was glad to even see it on the menu. My only critique is that it was just a tad too salty and maybe had a little too much cheese, if such a thing is even possible. Truffle Beef Carpaccio (10/10) - Oh my days. This was the highlight of the meal. The truffle flavour came through beautifully and paired perfectly with the delicate slices of beef. Truffle Pasta (7/10) - The pasta itself was perfectly al dente. My only issue was that the truffle flavor felt a bit muted, especially considering the price point.. Side of Salmon (5/10) - A little dry and lacked the depth of flavor found in the rest of the meal.

Upon checking in, we were told they only allow service dogs but they can make an exemption seeing how tiny our dog was. Apparently a server was bit by a dog before. Anyway, our server was Arturo. He did well pronouncing the Italian words. He was also able to make our baby girl smile a few times with his whistles. He offered us a complimentary assorted bruschette that has tomatoes, olive oil and cheese. They were pretty good. On their drinks menu, we were trying to look for beer. They do not have that on the menu, but our server knew all the draft beers they offer. We ordered an 805 and a Peroni to go with our food. My husband and I shared a pizza as an appetizer. He ordered Agnello al Limone, which is the lamb one. I ordered Linguine mare, basically the pasta seafood. The pizza was ok, we've had better. The lamb was very delicious and tender. I would definitely come back for that. The pasta was good. Overall, we had a great time. Update: I just realized they gave us the wrong pizza. This isn't what we ordered.
