Slice of cheese ($3)
Kristin Leigh M.

Long live Ray's! I used to visit Ray's once a week about a decade ago; my first office was in the 4199 tower. Just happened to be strolling through University Center tonight and hello Ray's! You're still here! Was going to call in for a slice but convinced my husband to split a small cheese with me. Came out in about ~15 minutes and was fresh, fresh, fresh! Miraculously, we ate the entire pizza then and there (8 slices). They have some nostalgic photos of New York on the walls and also have one of the old school Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games that you can still play for a quarter inside. They have some combo specials (two slides and a drink, or a slice, salad and drink, for example) that you can take advantage of. Not quite NY pizza (dough needs to be crispier on the bottom), but a good pizza nonetheless. 2024: 89/100

Cheese slice

Pizza was exactly what I was craving! Made quick and was delicious. Cant wait to go back and try more. Got one cheese pizza and one pepperoni, half mushroom half sausage. Staff was friendly. Ate a slice of each in the car because we couldn't wait .

Veggie Pizza Slice

I initially walked in just wanting to purchase a Diet Coke to go with the wrap I had bought at Trader Joe's, and when I came in I was immediately greeted by the kindest older gentleman I can only assume was Ray himself. He told me he is the older business within the university town center, has been their 38 years and has served countless Anteaters! Now mind you i only went in for a Diet Coke originally but after Ray asked if I wanted a pizza I deliberated and eventually said, 'you know what, give me a slice of the veggie' ... to which he responded "You're gunna love it!" And you know what, I did! I have to commend them on how they cook their crust, perfection... the bottom was perfectly crisp without being overcooked and the rest of the pizza was solid. This is not a gourmet establishment, so don't expect overly fancy pizza, this is for those that are looking for a solid, yummy slice of pizza and a throw back vibe- my kind of place! Not to mention I noticed all the customers he was so interactive, kind, knew their names and treated them like family. I highly recommend :)

NY Italian medium pizza

You can never go wrong with pizza, and Ray's does a great job of sticking to that standard! Their pizza is classic, cheezy, with a thick fluffy crust, and lots of typical toppings to choose from. I would like to think that they has really mastered the basics - which is my gold standard for a restaurant when I'm craving a quality, straightforward pizza. I also tried their garden salad - which wasn't anything special, but I thought was a good amount for the price, and was loaded up with fixings. I haven't tried their pastas, but they looked (and smelled) really good, so I will definetly be back at some point!

Slices fast and easy and crispy!

4 Stars is right for Ray's. If you're hungry for fast slices this is the way to go. Was hoping for awesome sauce or something with a more NY taste but about average on sauce and cheese meaning it's hot. To get that flavor you'd have to pay a lot more it seems these days so this is still a good deal. Good idea to be ready at the register or could end up No Soup for You. Overall got my fill with some really crispy thin slice dough. That's was nice!!!

I usually come here for lunch while I'm at work if I'm in the mood for some comfort food. I could choose any other place at UTC, but Ray's Pizza is my go-to greasy spoon in Irvine. I normally go for the $11 two slices and a soda deal. The pizza is pretty hearty and if you're looking for comfort pizza, this is it. It's good for the price and if you just need a quick bite. Service has always been friendly. It's indie owned so the cooks and staff pretty much know you if you're a regular. The ambience is very much geared at the college students at UC Irvine but anyone can enjoy this greasy spoon. I prefer eating outdoors. Tables are usually cleaned often. Parking is not too hard to come by.

Spicy meatball

One of the best pizzas I've had in OC! Super fresh, flavorful, and you can tell the owner truly cares, such a kind man who takes pride in his business.

The pizza I got was very old and not tasteful at all. When I returned to see if I can get a refund or exchange for something else, the owner did not comply. I recommend just going to blaze pizza instead.

Closest to real NY style pizza that I can find in So. Cal. The owners are always nice and personable. Good pizza, my whole family likes it.

THIS REVIEW IS "ONLY" FOR THE "LEMON OLIVE" CUPCAKE…read more.. Today is my birthday and my friend stopped by before work to bring me some goodies for my birthday. She knows I love sweets and do a lot of baking myself, however, I HAVE NEVER TASTED A CUPCAKE THIS DELICIOUS........EVER!! It's truly moist, "flakey" if you could call a cupcake flakey at all, has nooks and crannies as I broke it in half (thinking I'd only eat half and save half for later)... and honestly, lemon is NOT my favorite of anything if I had to pick. So for this baker saying this lemon olive cupcake is the VERY BEST cupcake OF ALL CUPCAKES that I've ever tasted, is saying A LOT. I'm totally a cake person, so the slight glaze on it is more than enough for me! She also bought me a carrot cake cupcake. It's good, but not above and beyond to make a name in this review. There are plenty of carrot cake recipes and this one is a 7 on a scale of 1-10, IMO. ... but the lemon rates 38 on a scale of 1-10. LOL

Their sides are amazing, especially the vegan Mac and cheese and their quinoa with yogurt. This time I ordered the Brussels and Kale salad with Chicken. I am upset I forgot to ask for extra dressing because I'm a saucy girl. Their little dressing container is not enough for the large Togo bowl. Luckily the grapefruit and grapes added flavor to it.

First time trying Vibe after a friend's recommendation, and it did not disappoint! There were so…read moremany great options, but we ultimately went with the Bombay Bowl and the Mediterranean Bowl. The Bombay Bowl was packed with flavor, which came in a coconut cashew curry with cauliflower, garbanzos, broccoli, purple cabbage, and a delicious turmeric slaw. The Mediterranean Bowl was also refreshing and perfect for lunch. It was loaded with diced cucumber, tomato, avocado, homemade hummus, black lentils, and pickled onion, and finished with tahini drizzle. You have the options to add additional protein or sauces for an upcharge. We opted to add the Maui Nui Venison. As a plus, everything came packed in nice reusable lunch bags. I've been to plenty of health‑forward cafés, but Vibe stands out for its freshness, its creativity, and the way it manages to make clean eating feel exciting rather than restrictive. The moment I walked in, I felt that signature Newport Beach ease. The space is bright and airy, with a clean, modern aesthetic that instantly puts you in a good mood. Natural light pours in, the décor leans toward minimalist coastal, and everything feels intentionally fresh. It's the kind of place where you want to sit down, take a breath, and enjoy something nourishing. There's a calm energy to the space--busy enough to feel lively, but never chaotic. The service at Vibe is exactly what you hope for in a wellness‑focused café. The staff is upbeat, welcoming, and genuinely helpful when it comes to navigating the menu. They strike that perfect balance of being quick without making you feel rushed. Even during busier moments, everything moves smoothly, and the team seems to truly enjoy what they do. Every dish I tried tasted incredibly fresh. The flavors were bright, the textures balanced, and nothing felt overly heavy or overly "health‑food‑ish." Vibe manages to hit that sweet spot where you feel good about what you're eating without sacrificing enjoyment. Whether it's a hearty bowl, a crisp salad, or one of their warm entrées, everything feels thoughtfully composed. You can taste the quality of the ingredients, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. The juices and smoothies are a highlight. They're vibrant, clean, and free of that overly sweet, artificial taste you sometimes get elsewhere. Each blend feels purposeful--balanced, refreshing, and energizing. It's the kind of drink you finish and immediately feel better for having had. Vibe Organic Kitchen & Juice is one of those Newport Beach spots that makes healthy eating feel joyful. The bright, modern space sets the tone, the service is warm and efficient, and the food is consistently fresh and flavorful.
