When Ray's closed at the beginning of the COVID apocalypse I was a sad panda bear. But then when me and my girlfriend were driving by one day, I saw it was re-opened and I almost wrecked my car in excitement. Drive straight into the curb and almost hit a pedestrian. Based on the reviews here, I convinced my boyfriend to have donuts for breakfast. It is very close to his house, so I went and got donuts while he cleaned up at home. I got him a fruity pebbles donut. I usually try to test out donut shops' glazed donut and cinnamon rolls. I think it is a good test of what they can do rather than relying on tricks and toppings. Keeping to the basics. I have to admit, I was quite disappointed given the hype. Both boyfriend and I just thought that the donuts were OK. But I suppose I would try them again. Great donuts! We went in several days after Ray's opened. There was a good selection of fresh, fragrant donuts. We got 7 donuts for $5.94, which is a great price. I had the blueberry fritter which looked a little dark (so I was worried) but the flavor and crunch were right on target. My daughter ate her way through most of a gaudy Fruity Pebbles donut while my son raved about the chocolate frosted cream filled one. (Though, he's never met a donut he didn't enjoy.) This is a great little donut shop with friendly and excellent service. Wide variety of donuts -- bear claws, apple fritters, pumpkin, glazed, etc. -- and also some very good breakfast sandwiches. Unlike most "hipster coffee shops" that sell a bacon/egg/cheese for twice the price of here, this shop makes the eggs fresh on a griddle and the bacon is nice and crispy. Plenty of free parking. Great doughnuts! The selection was small (perhaps because it was Sunday) but everything looked amazing! They also serve drinks and breakfast sandwiches which I wasn't aware of. The parking lot is huge but the entrance is truly only one directional (north) so you may have to do some illegal driving like I did unintentionally lol. I got the apple fritter and the strawberry doughnut. My sister also got the strawberry doughnut. While my sister wasn't a fan of the doughnuts I loved them. The crunch of the strawberry and apple fritters was amazing!!! The chunks of apple and hints of strawberry was a special touch!! Definitely an added bonus.. Really sweet though so I probably would only recommend one!!! I will definitely be back for the apple fritter if anything really soon!!!! read more

Terrible donuts, nice people. There's nothing special here. Donuts full of artificial flavors. There's no blueberries in their blueberry cake. Even their simple glazed donut tastes oddly artificial. Also, they have boba. Yet, strangely, my milk tea with boba tasted oddly of coffee. read more

They have something for every donut-eater at Ray's! These are lighter style donuts like Kristy Kreme and Sarah Donuts, and way better than Dunkin. The simple sugar-covered or glazed are just sweet enough and airy, and I tried a blueberry-cream cheese-filled this morning that was delicious. There's always lots of fun flavors. Donuts are made fresh and are light and delicious! I ordered 6 donuts.. Powdered donut, blueberry, glaze, blueberry cream cheese, and crumb donut, powdered jelly. Powder donut is fresh and amazing when you bite into it... moist and fluffy with perfect donut texture and powdered sugar taste great! The blueberry donut is great it has fresh blueberries and so much flavor . The glaze is so light and not too sweet like others.. Rays makes great donuts fresh everyday! We LOVE Ray's Donuts #4. My husband and I used to go to the Ray's Donuts in Marietta. When we moved to Decatur, I settled for Dunkin Donuts on Candler. BUT NOW WE HAVE RAY'S AND I AM SO HAPPY. Even though I love DD's, the quality and service here is tons better. Every time we go in, we get a friendly greeting from either the guy or the lady behind the counter. My favorites are glazed, glazed twist, sour cream, chocolate frosted, and the strawberry and cream cheese (and I usually don't like strawberry filled donuts). I've gotten coffee from them and it was fine. Never tried the breakfast sandwiches, and I've never had an issue of them being closed when I expect them to be open, but then again the latest I get there is usually 2 or 3. Sometimes even by 3 a good chunk of their donuts have been sold so I recommend getting there before 4 at least. read more
