There are real gems out there in Atlanta, often hidden away, far from the lens of influencers and…read moresnobby patrons. Cafe Alsace is one such discovery that belongs on the radar of those in the know. Having been around since 1997 and founded by a French immigrant, Benedicte Cooper, this is one of the more unique establishments focused on specific cuisine of Alsace region. Spectacular liver pate. Incredible Flammekueche flatbread. Ridiculously inexpensive selection of great wines, up charged at 1.5x retail. I mean, where does one find deals like that in today's market? The patio has a couple pleasantly setup tables. Sadly, as with most Atlanta patios, it is next to the relatively busy road, but it is what it is. With all this said, Cafe Alsace is a real winner when it comes to a casual French meal.

Cafe Alsace is a very cute French restaurant in Decatur square!…read more We came for date night and I called ahead to see if they would take a reservation, but they only do parties of 4 or more. We ended up taking one of the last tables, so I would definitely recommend getting here earlier in the night! We started with the bread and cheese board and tbh that was definitely the worst part of the night. I ended up not being a fan of 3/4 cheese, but I did really enjoy the bread. I had the beef bourguignon for my main while my fiance had the ratatouille with sausage. Out of the two, the beef bourguignon was the favorite! We ended the night with a crème brûlée that was really good. There's a lot of character in cafe Alsace and it's a very cute place for date night, and I'd definitely come back if I'm ever craving French food.

Came here for a late night dinner / desserts with a large group and had a very enjoyable time…read more The place has a nice European inspired environment with dim lighting and a fairly lively atmosphere. I ordered the smoked salmon pasta ($22.50), which was pretty good, although it was definitely too salty for my taste. There was a fair amount of smoked salmon, which was a good thing but also seemed like an interesting choice for a pasta dish (which is why I was curious to try). This place is most known for its desserts and thanks to the large group I was with, I got to try a whole bunch of different cakes. The German chocolate cake, cannoli cake, and coconut pineapple cake were my favorites. The key lime pie cake was decent but a bit on the sweet side. The staff are pretty friendly and the service speed is quite good. There is ample seating inside (and some outside) although it does get busy during peak hours. Overall, while my pasta was a bit too salty, the cakes were good and the environment was nice so Cafe Intermezzo is solidly in the 4 star category for me.

Given our impromptu visit, we had to wait approximately 15 minutes before getting seated. However, once seated, we were promptly serviced and our food came out fairly quickly. As a disclaimer, I was told that their speciality was their desserts, which I unfortunately did not try. However, I did try the White Hot Chocolate, which provided a sweet treat feel. Given that my first encounter with White Hot Chocolate in Madrid, Spain, I had an unfair comparison prompting my tastebuds to anticipate that same Madrid encounter, which of course wasn't the case. Despite the unrealistic comparison, Cafe Intermezo's White Hot Chocolate was still fairly tasty. I then tried the soup of the day, which was good, but based on my friend's rating of the soup, my expectations were a little too high, prompting the opinion that it was missing some oomph. Lastly, I split the Tomato Basil Pasta with my friend, which could have had more flavoring in my opinion.

It's a very simple walk up/take out spot with one monitor that is the menu and where you place your order. I love how you can see straight through the kitchen.... Nothing to hide!!! 4 employees that I seen were all working!! Not on the cell phones or out front smoking! ( seeing that makes me turn around ) I was greeted by a man with a heavy and accent... AWESOME!!! All I remember is saying that I was good ( the food illustrations with big pictures had me HYPE-MO-TIZED !! The man came towards the counter and let me know about an item that said it was sold out was actually being prepared and back on the menu! So many options so I decided to get enough food for a couple days... the Mardi Gras pasta was awesome ! Absolutely packed into my container and just tasty as hell! My red beans and rice scared me at first .. ( all I seen was white rice in a container) all the goodness was under the rice!! I mixed it up and added a bit of hot sauce and it was ! Now the jambalaya egg roll is absolutely delicious!! Crispy but flaky egg roll packed COMPLETELY with its ingredients!! My fried okra was good and served its purpose.. collards had way too much meat in them ... but tasty and on point . ( once I removed most of the meat ) Overall I loved my experience and Definitely will be back !!
