On the news I heard this place was a staple of Decatur and was closing soon. I wanted to check it out before this happened. This place is very casual - order at the counter or table service. I did table service and ordered oatmeal, coffee, and bacon. All was pretty standard and the waiter for fairly attentive. THIS ISSUE: I received my check, the total was 11 and change, I gave by card to pay and when the receipt was brought back, I WAS CHARGED A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AMOUNT. The waiter didn't say anything about up-charging my card. When I looked at the receipt the prices were changed and the coffee was added. It seems he made a mistake and tried to correct it silently. Unfortunately, this is not the way. The changes should have clearly been communicated before charging my card. It felt very dishonest and shady.

I was pleasantly surprised. I arrived around 815am shortly after they opened at 730am. There were only a few people there. I was immediately seated and I chose outside. The waitress was very attentive. Everything I had to eat was very tasty. The French toast was fluffy and garnished with fruit. The eggs, chicken sausage and grits were delicious and cooked well. I will definitely return

Checked out this place on a whim since it was close by. Found the menu deceptive, particularly the grilled chicken sandwich which is described as "marinated." There was not a single spec of seasoning on the chicken breast and it was completely bland. I asked the server what is was marinated in and apparently its just olive, salt and pepper It might also be the time of day I went (around 1pm) but I found their cookies rather hard and dry.

Came here for a Sunday brunch with my husband. We walked in and were greeted immediately and sat at a table. Our waitress was very sweet and nice and service was quick. They were out of cinnamon rolls and sticky buns by the time we got there but ordered a buttermilk biscuit that came with jam that was hot and tasty. We also ordered the french toast, veggie loaded potatoes, and the traditional southern breakfast. All the food came out pretty quickly and was nice and hot. The french toast was good and your standard french toast, nothing exceptional. The traditional southern breakfast plate was good as well. The veggie loaded potatoes were hot and delicious and very filling, just wish they were a little crispy. Ordered the half portion and was still a large amount! Plenty of seating inside and outside and plenty of parking as well.

located near downtown decatur with their own FREE parking lot, Pastries a go go is a fast casual breakfast. They have soo many affordable options and soo many delectable pastries! I got the traditional breakfast which comes with two eggs*, any style, your choices of bacon or sausage, toast Or biscuit, and grits or home fries! All for only 10.50! My friend got the eggs benedict ( only served on weekends) and instead of english muffins they use biscuits for the base SO YUM! They are shortstaffed and still gave us such great and speedy service for a saturday morning! Also lastly if you get there early enough today, you absolutely must try their sticky bun! It was like a pecan piece of heaven

New owners with a more inviting menu. Good food and friendly people! Great to eat out in the shade, inside or take home.

Smooth on the spoon with that soft creamy finish that makes soup feel a little luxurious instead of just warm. The feta on top cut through it nicely. Salty. Tangy. A little flash of brightness in every bite. It gave comfort with some polish. Like rainy day food that still has good posture. The almond croissant was the one. Golden edges. A soft shatter on the outside. Then that dense almond center that lands sweet, nutty, and almost plush. The powdered sugar on top made it feel a little extra in the best way. Not too precious. Not too sugary. Just enough to make it feel bakery serious. The kind of pastry that makes you pause after the first bite because now everybody else at the table wants some. The tea was better than good. Clean. Smooth. Calming in a way that made everything else settle into place. It felt intentional. Not an afterthought. Definitely the standout and the easiest thing to come back for. Forgot her name, but the woman helping me order was a lifesaver. Honest. Adorable. Knew how to guide without hovering. He was very patient answering many questions about the menu. My mom has a lot of food sensitivities so she has to be very specific about what she eats. Hands down the best thing on the table was my shrimp and grits! The shrimp had just the right amount of Cajun seasoning, the grits were smooth and cheesy, the vegan sausage was nice and savory, and I loved the little grilled piece of focaccia bread. My fiancé loved the Kirkwood Breakfast. Especially the lavender biscuit and the preserves that went with it. He was also a huge fan of the honey bacon. My mom also got the Kirkwood breakfast, but she opted to get the eggs without the boursin cheese because of her food issues. My niece's boyfriend got the challa French toast and WOW it was a sight to see! Huge fluffy piece of French toast, topped with fresh berries, and a ricotta cheese blend. He seemed quite happy with it, although it was a little on the fence with the texture of ricotta, I'm thinking he probably hasn't had that before so I didn't know it was kind of like a cottage cheese texture. I got a lavender infused lemonade, nonalcoholic drink from the bar, and it was an absolute delight! I was surprised when they only charged me $4 for it, I felt like that was a great price for a delicious drink. My only constructive criticism to them would be to let people know that they add a 20% gratuity to every check. I don't mind paying that and honestly usually tip more but I do appreciate when a server will at least circle that on the check or let you know verbally .

The little wooden tray for my chai tea reminded me to stay grounded. Tristan recommended a new drink--the Spiced Matcha Mule. Ooh, she was spot on. It reminded me of something Mami (my Dominican almond mom) would make to heal and nurture me. I peeked over to the bar and noticed some fancy pink and green drinks being created by the host and a smiling barista. I couldn't decide--fruit, toast, or a salmon bagel. I fell back in love with a blast of flavor... the micro cilantro took the avocado toast to a whole next level. The fruits were perfect, and the intention came through with the fresh, delicate pink flowers--a nod to the seasonal festivities this weekend. As regulars left full, they looked loved and seen, each one getting a big mama hug from Mrs. Martha or Martin. She gives the sense that all is well in the world when she's there. Tristan provided exceptional service. Josh quietly cleared small plates as I finished. I noticed the team happily supporting each other as guests left and new ones arrived. The 9:00 AM early bird crowd was perfect--I even got away with enjoying this fine dining experience in shorts and a school T-shirt. The music was just right as I practiced my French on Duolingo. Today was perfection. I hope all your guests get to have this experience. Hats off to Chef Ryan, Chef Eric and Ernest, and the entire team.
