Today was my first time and I wanted to see what they have to offer. Upon entering I saw a butcher area to my left and to my right employees behind a counter where orders could be placed for their sandwiches. The middle of the store consisted of ready to take home prepared meals. Think of potato salad, queso, house-made tortilla chips and salads and more. After looking around, I decided to order the breakfast sandwich, bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant. The person that took my order was very nice. He was personable and told me where I could pick up my order. There were two brunette women behind the counter but they didn't acknowledge anyone and just talked among themselves. read more

Decided to walk to oakhurst market for a sweet treat, (an icee) and when I arrived, all 3 flavors of the icee machine were broken, which was kind of disappointing, but they did have a working soda machine so I got that instead. The cleanliness of this place was good! All items were mostly organized and the floor and walls were clean. The employee after checkout was also very kind and helpful. Some other useful things about this place is that it is a little overpriced, just a granola bar there was $3.30! And that despite on the website saying that they don't take Apple Pay, I used it today and it worked just fine which was a little weird. This market is the only business I've been to where I felt like they actively wanted me to have a negative experience. I was recently berated by deli staff for using poor grammar when ordering. I also had to withstand his ideology on the "deterioration of society". I will not miss the other passive aggressive behavior like absolute silence at the register (just pay and get out) or the meanie side eye senior lady or grouchy teens "on watch". Oakhurst Market chiefly consists of an Icee machine with a high-end convenience store built around it as protection. I'm usually here after church on Sunday afternoon, looking for snacks or a sandwich. They really do have a little bit of everything, and it's a pleasant enough spot. The lunch counter offers some mighty tasty sandwiches, and there's a really nice selection of adult beverages scattered around. My kids usually dig around for cookies or something like that. There is a meat counter, for those days when you need to grill up a steak or some sausages. I mention the Icee machine because places like these really have millennial tastes nailed down these days. We apparently have careers now, and we've gotten picky. Am I merely a receptacle for tasty craft beers, cruelty-free chicken breasts, and nondairy frozen desserts? My therapist would say no, but here we are. Great little market. read more

So this is an interesting store. They mostly carry a ton of alcoholic beverages, ready-made foods, and some froufrou snacks. It might be a cross between a liquor store and a wine & cheese store. There's also some froufrou chocolates for sale. And there's a sandwich shop inside. Their menu is limited, they only have like below 10 choices for sandwiches, but it's the classic ones like tuna, egg salad, etc. I got the egg salad, it came on a croissant, and it was actually quite good. We went with Oakhurst Market for catering a baby shower. It didn't have a lot of reviews here on Yelp so we were a bit nervous - but we're so pleased with how everything turned out! The caprese skewers and roast beef crostinis especially were a hit. And the prices were very reasonable. We were very happy with them and would order from them again! read more

I love this little market. At this point I've been here several time. First time was undoubtedly due to curiosity and building my way to familiarity. They have a cool little meat section in the back that gives you real meat butcher vibes. In the front, it's a nice selection of nice vegetables/ fruits stables such as (green pepper, avocados, broccoli florets, etc. They have a decent selection of beer and even have the Vybes Hemp Drink. During Covid, staff are wearing their mask and enforcing the 5 person store limit. It's a neat place and great place to grab and go. My kid even got a cool wooden coin that will grant her 1 free ice cream (or icee) the next time she return. read more

WOW (not in a good way). I know that we are all going through a rough time, so I wanted to support a local business by buying a few things that I needed rather than using instacart at Publix or Aldi. I went in once before (pre-pandemic), and the staff wasn't very friendly. However, I know that everyone has bad days, so I didn't make mention of it here. Fast forward today. I tried to place a pick up order for 4 items around 11:00 am. I was asked at 1:00 pm to provide a phone number for my order so that they could call me and confirm what I wanted and to get credit card info. I provided the info around 1:20, but by 3:00 or so, I hadn't heard back, so I sent an email that I was heading into the store around 3:15. I got to the store, got my toilet paper ($0.75 each), paper towels ($4.15 each), and two different kinds of chicken salads - smoked and grape pecan. The grape pecan was behind a deli case. I tried to inquire about it from someone behind the deli counter (keep in mind there are only 5 people allowed in at the store at the moment and the employees outnumber the customers). At one point I walked away to try to find someone to help me, someone else came into the store and was assisted my someone behind the meat/deli counter immediately. When I finally got someone to assist me, I actually asked whether it was fresh but waited for so long to get it that I forgot to check the best by date myself. I checked out and went home, and quickly realized that the grape pecan chicken salad was bad. The sell by date was 4/6/20 and today was 4/10/20. The chicken looked grey and there was a very bad smell when I opened the container. When I called to tell them about it, the staff member was unkind. When I told her about my shopping experience in general combined with this, she acted as though I was asking for a lot. Yes, I get that mistakes happen. Yes, I get that this is a tough time for everyone, but at the same time we need to be aware of food safety, and we need to be kind to others in return.... Not to mention the price gouge for paper towels. I unfortunately won't be back. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I miss the Dollar Tree that was in the neighborhood... I did get a refund from the chicken salad, but I was out on hold for several minutes before my refund was eventually (and hopefully) processed. read more

Oakhurst market catered our wedding day, and it was delicious! Paula worked with us for months to make sure everything was exactly how we envisioned. She answered my many questions, and made sure everything was perfect. They are one of the Dekalb History Center's preferred caterers, and it is clear why. They set up all the chairs, tables, glasses, and did the room flip for the reception seamlessly. They even folded the napkins beautifully. Everything was on time and done with excellence. We did the Mexican buffet, and had the food set up in separate room, and it was fantastic! Highly recommend Oakhurst market for your catering. read more

"Can I get..." - a phrase I thought every employee working a meat counter understood. This afternoon, an Oakhurst Market employee showed me otherwise. He seemed to think I wanted to come around the counter and prepare the food myself. I am still unsure whether the verbal accosting I received was a bizarre, unsolicited 3rd-grade grammar lesson or a vulgar explanation of fundamental food counter dynamics. It troubles me to consider what quick judgment he passed to conclude that I struggle with either of these things. I've given Oakhurst Market a five star review in the past and I really want to emphasize how great this little market is as I discover something new to love about it all the time. -They have weekly suppers Mon-Thur for two or four people that are outstanding for the price. You just call before 2 pm, place your order, pick it up and reheat when you get home. The BBQ'd ribs are better than most you'd get at a restaurant. -They have a small ice cream selection that beats the prices of downtown Decatur any day. For $2 I get a "kid's scoop" (it's actually quite sizable) of strawberry or cookies-n-cream that satisfies my sweet craving. -They make delicious deli sandwiches with fresh ingredients. Again, you will pay more for staple items at this market, but their homemade dishes and meats are such a good deal for the quality. I'm so glad Oakhurst Market is close to my home! read more

So I only pick up the bare minimum, but the $$ always came to be about the same amount as a real grocery run at a big chain store - rude service by a Caucasian guy (other ones are very friendly) who actually used the phrase 'end of story' to end a conversation with me (?). I'm usually just a regular person and nobody ever described me as rude ... so I had to guess he had a bad day? Really wanna support local business. This one has lots of potential, need lots of improvement too. But I hate to say this.. This cute little market is in the heart of the Oakhurst neighborhood just outside of Decatur and/or Kirkwood. The market itself is attached to a small shoe store and has a small parking area directly in front. It's a great little market for the surrounding residents and has a little of bit of everything you could need on any given day to make a meal at home or replace things in your refrigerator. We came in after church at Trinity and just wanted to check it out and grab a quick snack before lunch later in the afternoon. We grabbed a drink and also a big bag of house-made tortilla chips. These suckers are freaking amazing. Scooped into a big bag and stapled at the top for you to take with you. They are thick cut, seasoned with an amazing mixture, and packed with flavor. We came home to enjoy them with a tomatillo salsa and they were wonderful. Though, we did enjoy most of them on their own. For $2.49 a bag, it's a great deal and well worth a try. The market also carries a ton of other awesome items -- Killer beer and wine selection Deli items Tons of fun candy Cheeses and more I really dig neighborhood markets and this one is great. I have lived near Oakhurst Market for almost 12 years at this point. Although I really didn't become an OM regular until the last year or so. OM is a great little neighborhood market! Where they really shine are their premade foods, homemade chips, sandwich counter (although their hot sandwiches have been "OUT" for almost 2 months now which is so incredibly disappointing), and their family meals available during the week! Don't know what to make for dinner or don't have time? Call Oakurst market, they have dinner for 4 ready to go and the taste and quality is great! They also do holiday meals, so if you are not feeling like cooking for Christmas or Thanksgiving? Oakhurst Market can take care of that too and it's delicious! You know what my favorite thing about OM is though, the coke Icee machine! I grew up in Florida, where I could run into a 7-11 anytime and pick up a coke icee anytime in the summer, and there is nothing as refreshing on a hot day like a coke icee! I had searched all over Atlanta for a 7-11 to no avail, then I started hitting up Burger Kings for their "Frozen Cokes", but most of the time, the Burger King's icee machine was "down" for the day. Then I found out I had been living within a mile of a coke Icee machine at Oakhurst Market and literally I have been a super happy camper ever since! Oakhurst market also has a great craft beer selection and a great wine selection! Pretty cool place. My first time in here was tonight. They have some great looking (and tasting) stuff! Love the soups, salads and sandwiches. I cant' wait for it to get warmer so I can fire up the grill and grill some of those beautiful looking rib eyes! One thing I would change is that ceiling fan by the deli area. The light behind it and the whirling fan blades almost gives me epilepsy! Looking forward to try more of their delicious stuff. read more

Oh, Oakhurst Market. You kill me with your trendy signage, convenient location and things no one really needs (like fill your own olive oil bottle service). I live right up the road, and I have been here more times than I care to think about to retrieve that *one pesky ingredient* I forgot for my recipe. I swear- whatever ingredient I'm looking for, they don't have it. Lemon? Scallions? Rice? Nope, nope, nope. But they DO have the overly-expensive, not-really-helpful versions of those things: key limes, risotto, and onion crisps (I'm being a little facetious, but you get my point). I would come here all the time if they just did a better job of stocking the basics. Who needs an $8 jar of cashew butter or a $6 jar of the fanciest mustard on the planet? Just give me some quality staples. On the plus side, they have a great selection of meat cuts, many of which are marinated or rubbed. They also have Honeysuckle gelato and beer growlers. read more

Great local spot to grab a few things. We come here regularly for 2 items: their homemade pimento cheese and their homemade tortilla chips. The pimento cheese is the best I've had since moving to Georgia and their tortilla chips are the best I've had... ever. And this is coming from a native Texan who's been in California for the past 7 years! The market has an impressive selection of other little things, too, like: Raincoast Crisps crackers, bucatini pasta, Maldon sea salt, and King of Pops popsicles. Not that these items are on our list to get all the time, but I love that they have them. My husband and I have also had their breakfast croissant sandwiches, which are great and the one time we purchased ground beef from the meat counter (to make burgers) my husband made multiple comments that it was the best store-bought ground beef he's had in a long while. So, in a nutshell: while they're a small, neighborhood market that doesn't have everything you need for a full grocery shop; the things they do have are great and of superior quality. Can't say much for the friendliness of the staff as none of the interactions I've had have been too friendly/helpful; which is why I knocked one star off. read more

Love this little market - it has a good selection of pre-made meals for pick up & 3-4 special meals Tues - Thurs (I think). Also has fresh meats, fish, chicken, cheeses and sausages. Nice little wine, craft beer offerings, candy & Icees for the kiddies or the kiddy in you. Some of the best trail mix/granolas I've ever tasted - also baked goods, little cupcakes & cookies etc. I look forward to returning and taking a meal home for dinner. I'm surprised there isn't anything comparable on the "other side of the tracks" from Oakhurst - this place is special. I like Sawicki's but it doesn't compare to this little market. The Oakhurst Market just opened up (it's so new I can't find the phone number) but I'm surprised nobody else has Yelped it! Maybe they're too busy sipping their Icees? Or enjoying some locally sourced dairy and veggies? Or even enjoying the wine wall and house-smoked brisket? The possibilities are endless!! The brains behind Steinbeck's, U Joint, and the Oak Grove market have teamed up again to bring you the Oakhurst Market which has a fully stocked butcher counter (my FAVORITE!) supplying raw meat for your touch, and house-smoked brisket (I got to sneak a taste yesterday before they put it out and WOW it was ah-mazing!) or pre-made tuna and chicken salad by the pound. There's a refrigerated case as you come in the door with everything from cream soda to local fingerlings; and what would that case be without a little of Steinbeck's amazing pimiento cheese? Wine and beer are, of course, up for order since this IS Decatur and the wine wall and small beer cooler do not disappoint-- reds and whites from all over in a fairly moderate price range look to please even the pickiest of palates. Best of all, though, is the atmosphere-- it's small, but well stocked, and the staff is so friendly I love going in! Have I mentioned the Icees yet? 'Cause the Icees are pretty amazing, too... We love OM market! It's the best to just stop and grab something last minute but we also get dinner there often! They do week night suppers there take home and ready to eat (M-Th). We order those suppers at least 2 days a week and they are incredible quality. Friday's they do hot and ready pizzas, so good!, we just got our first one last Friday. Great selection of local and interesting products, beer, wine, awesome made to order sandwiches, butcher counter. Love It! Yes, the prices can be steep. But, I argue - because of their quality - they can also be NOT steep. You just need to know what to buy. No, I won't be paying $5 for pimento cheese any time soon or dropping a $20 for lasagna. But, their deli case ground beef and chicken breasts are easily comparable to the Farmer's Market. Their breads are fresher and cheaper (they now have challah!) Plus, I'm delighted to know that they have just about everything that would fill in the sentence, "oh, crap, I forgot to get _______ from the grocery store." No, they're not a huge store, but they hold their own. Before them, it was crossing my fingers and hoping that the Hop and Shop had it (most likely not). Holiday main entree? This is your place. The Xmas/Hanukkah season, they've got it stocked: turkey, beef roast, pheasant, ham, lamb whathaveyou. This past holiday season we ordered a couple of pounds of sirloin tip. And, dig this: it melted in my mouth and was delightfully PLEASURABLE to eat. Plus, if they didn't have what I've wanted, they go out of their way to ask their supplier if they can GET it. I absolutely love that 'The Market' is conveniently located to my home and place of business. This place is my saving grace when I run out of wine or when I'm in dire need for anything that does not require a grocery store run. Not sure what to cook for dinner? Great place to pre order freshly made to-go meals. On Wednesday's we order their sandwiches for dinner. On Friday's we get their chips and salsa. My youngest loves walking here after school for their frozen drinks and to meet up with friends. Great Neighborhood spot! read more

Other reviewers have criticised the OM for its limited selection, but I give them the benefit of the doubt on that. I suspect they are still sorting out their suppliers and logistics, which can't be easy, since they are trying to provide high-quality local produce in a society designed around industrial Frankenfood. In fact things seem to improve daily on that score at the OM - more items, more selection. The thing that keeps me at three stars is OM's prices. I can understand higher prices for boutique items like Brasstown beef and heirloom carrots. But everything in the OM, even the generic stuff, is at least 20% more expensive than elsewhere, sometimes far more. Again, I understand the challenge of buying at lower volumes and not getting wholesaler discounts, but guys, have you not heard of loss leaders? To my mind, OM would do better to back off on the mark-ups for the not-so-special stuff. That would bring more traffic into the store and increase volumes, and I bet they would sell more of the fancy stuff too. Otherwise, many of us will be forced to skip OM and keep going to Kroger or Publix. read more

I ordered weekly suppers for delivery on Tuesday (tamales $11.99 ea) and Wednesday (prime rib $16.99 ea) plus some desserts and groceries. THE PRIME RIB WAS GREAT! I can't believe how large, tender and flavorful it was! The sides were good too: Au gratin potatoes and a mixed green salad. For only $16.99 it was well worth it; I'll watch for this to be available again. The tamales, beans, rice and guacamole on Tuesday were tasty and made a nice dinner. Good sized portions-both nights I had at least half left over for another meal (my husband finished his meals but said they were large portions.) I live in Buckhead and I'm pleased to say the the dinners were warm and ready to eat when they arrived from Decatur (of course, light traffic right now during the pandemic). Everything was well packaged and carefully transported-tomatoes protected in separate bag, cake slices looking great/protected in a clear clamshell, and meals in tightly closed aluminum pans that didn't leak (I especially appreciated the pans since last week a carry-out dinner from Somewhere Else ended on the floor due to leaky Styrofoam box in a brown paper bag.) Shawn was my original contact for information and he was very helpful and friendly. I emailed Paula the order and she called back to get payment information and was also helpful and friendly. Kristin (?) shopped my groceries and when she called was also helpful and friendly (did I mention the staff is helpful and friendly? :)) I think the grocery prices were reasonable and the produce and meats looked very good.
