Love this place! I go for bulk sesame oil and EVOO, plus the best deal on the best fish sauce, Red Boat. It has aaaaalll the things Asian.

Conveniently located next to Pin Ups. Lol.

They have hard to get items that you cannot find at other oriental markets. They specialize in some hard to find food items. Found some authentic LUMPIA wrappers in the freezer section and was super amazed. Lumpia is one off my first international foods that I have ever had. This market also carries a huge arrangement of woks, utensils, sauces for exotic cooking. Lots of products from the Orient were on sale, from clothing to hats. The had a huge variety. have some patients and you may have to search high and low for the items you want, BUT the person at the cashier desk knows where everything is - finding help was not an issue. The have their own parking lot so there is always room to park and shop. It was a good info tight down the street from Your Dekalb Farmers Market

    Yummy! And vegan.

This family owned business is amazing! They stock a varied amount of products ranging from sauces, spices and seasonings.. frozen foods including vegan products. I especially like that they carry vegetarian and vegan meat substitutes in family size portions. If you're looking for kitchen tools, pots, woks and skillets.. they've got it. Snacks and cute party foods.. Caribbean teas, drinks snacks and seasonings are also here. This quaint shop is located next to a popular gentleman's club.. okay, it's a strip club.. but they're separated by a cement divider and don't share parking. The ladies who run the store are extremely helpful and will guide you in how to prepare and combine food with the sauces they carry The downside to shopping there is that some may find it "cluttered" and unorganized. If you can't find what you're looking for ask them.

One of the aisles. Things are scattered in the front and the back, but the employees are always able to help you find things.

I remember visiting this market one time when I was in middle school. I went with friends who bought some white rabbit candies, I was astonished by the cheese flavored ice cream I saw int he fridge, and I always remembered it and knew that I wanted to go back. Ten years later, I regularly stop by for all our Asian cooking needs, and I always feel good about supporting the owners and the ladies who work there. The staff has always known exactly where anything is, so even though the place can seem disorganized, knot that they'd be more than happy to help you find what you need. I find the disorderly cooking and serving ware sections endearing, actually. These ares have narrow aisles and remind me of a few markets I visited while in Korea, so it adds charm, in my mind. The staff is also very knowledgeable about their products. I came to the counter with rock salt and some rice noodles, and the cashier asked if I was making pho. I told her yes, it would be my first time, and she gave me some advice about cooking the noodles. I haven't yet NOT been able to find what I've needed at First Oriental Market for the Japanese and Vietnamese dishes I've tried to make. Granted, I haven't gone through every recipe of those cuisines, but I've been very happy that I can count on this store to have what I need. I also appreciate their ramen selection. It's not as large as H Mart's, but it branches more into the Thai and Vietnamese ramens. If you haven't been, it's a fun experience. I always enjoy my visits. The shop is small, but solid, and the staff is great. In fact, one of the ladies there gave me a free Thai Buddha calendar last December! How sweet is that! I've wanted to try some of the fresh made pastries for a long time but haven't, and one day I'm going to get bowls and cute little cups from here!

In recent years, they have really upped their game when it comes to prepared foods. There's a restaurant; a hot food bar with a lot of fried Indian classics (I'm partial to their bonda- basically just a big ball of sweet fried dough, not the healthiest lol but very nostalgia-inducing); a bakery (can't go wrong with laddoo, gulab jamun, or jalebi); and fresh coconut water and sugarcane juice. This time, I got the sugarcane juice (so refreshing! so cheap! it was even better cold) and two types of gulab jamun that I've never had before. Indian desserts tend to be VERY sweet, so be forewarned. Ambiance & service are fine (it's a grocery store), although restrooms could be better maintained. Lots of free parking available. 7.5/10 would recommend!

While I don't shop here for groceries, the produce always appears to be fresh & the aisles are neatly organized. I have only returned for their mango lassi and their hot food which is A1. Now, I'm black. When I go I'm usually the only black person there, which isn't an issue but no one really speaks English if you need assistance. There are some Hispanic employees, so if you know some Spanish you'll be ok. As I've stated, I enjoy their hot food & mango lassi, when I've ordered here over the years, the cashiers usually aren't friendly... I do expect the basic level of customer service where I spend my money. On this particular February day, their lack of service bothered me. I, the customer, greeted the cashier and she just waved at me. I paid for my items and she was speaking to the coworker while she was giving me my change and preparing my order. It was rude. When she gave me my items, I looked her right in her eyes and said thank you, have nice day, very pleasantly. It was ONLY then that she smiled and said have a nice day. I told her thank you, I just wanted you to be nice to me. She seemed surprised that I said this, I proceeded to tell her about her lack of service in the most lovingly way and again thanked her for my items. I don't know if I'll be returning there bc of this experience and my experiences over the years. I am not going to shop anywhere where I'm not treated with courtesy as a paying customer.

They have a large parking lot, which is always full as Patel Plaza has a lot of other Indian eateries and shopping. I prefer going in the evenings when it's less busy but you may have to pick a good day as they get their replenished stock every week (don't know which day - but it's the best time when all shelves are stocked and the food is super fresh). Prices are very reasonable - sometimes even better than Kroger or Publix. They have the best assortment of Indian groceries - hands down. After the renovations the place feels more airy. Staff is always willing to help. The only annoyance I have is that most of their shopping carts are broken and/or staff doesn't get them back from the cart drop off spots to the entrance at regular intervals. In spite of this, Patel Bros will still be my go to Indian grocery spot as long as I'm in ATL.

If you're familiar with Nam Dae Mun, this is similar--but with way more authentic Indian and South Asian variety. Every section of the store had something new to discover. From fresh produce I couldn't even name (seriously--I was Googling as I browsed ), to aisles full of spices, snacks, and ingredients you won't find in your average grocery store. We didn't even make it down every aisle, but what we saw was enough to guarantee we'll be back. The produce section was especially impressive--loaded with unique fruits and vegetables I didn't know even existed. Definitely a place where you'll want to do a little recipe research before you fill your cart. As for prices, I was hoping for a bit lower, but considering these are imported goods and the joys of tariffs and trade, I get it. Bottom line: A must-visit if you're into cooking, curious about global cuisine, or just want to expand your pantry in a flavorful direction. I'll be returning soon--this time with a recipe list in hand!
