Well worth the wait in line! Super tender brisket and delicious Mac n cheese. I really enjoy that a lot of the meat is from Ohio! Be sure to go as early as possible as the wait is shorter and less chance of them running out of things! I noticed a lot of comments complaining about prices but I feel they are more than fair, you get a TON of food for a normal amount of money. My boyfriend and I both got a main meat item, a side, and a drink each and it wasn't more than 35 dollars. Unless we are eating fast food like McDonald's or Steak 'n Shake where you aren't getting quality food at all, we definitely spend over that on a normal night going out to eat at a restaurant. So in my mind for the quality of food you are getting and the amount it is a perfectly reasonable price. My only wish is they were open all the time! read more

So I decided to come to Rays after driving by it so many times. I didnt have a problem parking. A jovial bearded redheaded guy suggested I get a burnt ends sandwich and a side of cheesy potatoes. Both were good. Total price was 14 bucks. I really enjoyed my calorie filled meal, but Im not sure it deserves 5 stars. I reserve the right to bump it to 5 stars at a later date. Went to Land Grant Brewery and I was hungry. Ray Rays Hog Pit was parked there so we decided to eat. No one was disappointed. I got a half rack of spare ribs and a sausage and both were excellent. The ribs were perfectly cooked with a nice dry rub, great bark and feel right of the bone. Flavorful and perfectly cooked. The sausage was tasty and properly cooked. Everyone else was very happy with their food and there was nothing left on anyones plate when we were done. The bonus, great beer from Land Grant Brewing to compliment the barbeque. read more

This is a BBQ joint and I ordered wings. And I'll say this every time if you screw up the wings why should I go for more complicated dishes on your menu. My friend ordered brisket and I was like O hell no!!! I ordered bbq wings plain with the sauce on the side. I asked was it a whole wing, he said no, then I asked if I could get a equal amount of flats and drum sticks and that didn't happen! I got 2 flats and 6 drum sticks. Then instead of plain they had some type of spicy dry rub that I never asked for. Mind you I'm feeding my 2 yr old! Then I told them and they acted like putting shit that you don't ask for on your food is normal. Then on top of some spicy unwarranted dry rub the meat underneath had no flavor only smoke which I love but zero season beyond the dry rub. I went and asked for salt and the woman said the don't have it. That was shocking! The mac n cheese was stove top with nacho cheese... Yuck! And the collard greens were tough, vinegary with hot sauce. It was disgusting. All the smoked meat going around that place but they didn't use it on the greens! They are the type to hide behind hot sauce. Dear white people greens need to be seasoned with smoke meat or don't go near them ( they needed meat tenderizer) Ugh waste your money if you want but they can't get me back on free cocktail night!! read more

Was excited to try this place as I saw good reviews. We were very disappointed. We ordered the meat sampler, 1 lb of ribs and a side of greens and mac n cheese. We did not get our mac n cheese but baked beans instead even though our receipt reflected what we actually ordered. The sides were actually the best thing about the meal. The ribs tasted like smoke and there was no meat on them. Nothing but a pound of bones! The pulled pork was tasteless. The brisket was not that tender. The chicken was weird. The smoked sausage had a good taste but the skin was tough. None of the bbq even smelled good! Out $62 and still peeved about it the next day! What a waste. read more

Walk up food truck that offers a wide variety of BBQ and even some jerk style chicken. Had to get a sampler to try everything they offered. Great customer service and quick to deliver some tasty food. Highly recommend visiting a ray Ray's to enjoy all your carnivore needs. So I was really excited to eat at Ray Ray's! My sister made a list of places to eat in Columbus and this place was one of them. We got to Ray Ray's and there was a pretty long line which is a good thing. People really want this stuff!! While we were waiting they ran out of brisket and mac and cheese. They already had been out of banana pudding. That was literally everything I wanted to get. (Basically I am going to have to come back). The staff was really friendly and helpful. We got our smoked meat and bounced. We got home and devoured our meat assortment of the pulled pork, jerk chicken, and spare ribs. We also got some sauces such as the sweet barbecue, the vinaigrette, and jalapeno sauce. I highly recommend getting a assortment so you can dip and try all of them. My favorite was the vinaigrette! The jerk chicken was grilled to perfection and extremely moist. The sandwich comes with these pickled vegetables which really hit it out of the park for me. The spare ribs were also good. The pulled pork also had a nice smokey crispy charr on it. Yum Yum!! Lastly we got the cheesy potatoes and collard greens. Get the cheesy potatoes! The few times I've been here before, I've always gotten their brisket. While it's always been top notch, I decided to go out of my comfort zone. Stephen and I shared a full rack of baby back ribs, collard greens, and coleslaw. The gentleman in the window was fast and efficient with our order. They've got it down pat. The ribs were super moist. Pink from the smoking. Perhaps next time, I would get them with light sauce, to taste the meat some more, but nothing bad about them at all! The greens were interesting. First time for collard greens - they have a tart/tangy-ness. Loved the coleslaw. Juicy. I splurged and got the banana pudding - I wanted something sweet. Good, but not nearly the best I've ever had. Not even close. My walk-away impression is "pretty good but really, really over-hyped". Given the long lines, I frankly expected it to be a little better. The dry rub ribs were good, but dry. Sauces were good. Tenderloin was solid. Cole slaw sucked - totally Gordon Food Service. Shame on you, Ray Ray. Mac & cheese was only OK. Rubbery and not that flavorful. Needed salt and really didn't taste much like cheese. Disappointing. Collared Greens and baked beans were very good. Banana pudding was Jello mix. Shame on you. These were great ribs! We got a full rack each... OMG SO much food... but my fat kid is SO happy right now! These had a ton of fall off the bone meat on them. The sauce was absolutely fabulous. We also got a side of baked beans, and these too were amazing. I personally like beef ribs better but these are by far some of the best pork ribs I've eaten. I love Ray Ray's, and it's probably the best BBQ you're going to find around the greater Columbus area, but I can't say it's the best BBQ I've ever had. I'd probably give it a 4.5 star, but the sincerity and awesomeness of the guys running it definitely bump it up to a solid 5. When I say 4.5 star, I'm really just judging the ribs, because that's all I've had recently, although I did have the brisket back in the day when they were over in Mya's (former) spot next to the convenience store, and I remember it being pretty tasty. Anyway, back to the ribs. This latest visit I was feeling pretty ambitious so I got a half rack of baby back ribs with Ray Ray's dry rub and a half rack of the spare ribs with the spicy dry rub. I hadn't had the dry rubs before, so I got an order of their sweet and habanero sauces on the side just in case. When I got back to my house, I realized I may have over ordered, but I managed to slam it all down. The baby back ribs are definitely my favorite as far as the meat goes, but I like the spicy dry rub more. Overall though, I think the rubs could use a bit more flavor, and I ended up using a bit of the habanero and sweet sauces; both of which were very tasty. When I was there around noon this past Sunday, there was a little bit of a line that moved fairly slowly. I'd say it was a good 15-20 minutes before I ordered, so be prepared to wait longer if the line has more than 10-15 people. I will be back, because I really want to try the Jerk Chicken sandwich and try the brisket again, both of which look super tasty. You'll be hard-pressed to find good BBQ around Columbus, and most of Ohio for that matter, so it's nice to have some guys really putting in the effort to pump out quality smoked meats. read more

Got home to food that I wouldn't walk across the street to get. The brisket was salty as h#$$, the pork was mostly fat, the ribs were average, and the sausage was awful!!! The tators were delicious! I'm giving this 4 stars for the atmosphere and the fact that it is in Ohio. However, I'm not sure Ray Ray's would hold up against the competition in St. Louis, or other southern BBQ places. Having lived in St. Louis, I can attest to this. Get here early! I got to Ray Ray's at noon, right when it opened and there was already a line. It took 35 minutes to get through it, which actually isn't too bad for BBQ on a weekend. The service is almost Jimmy John's fast - once you order, they almost immediately hand you your food. Get the brisket and pulled pork. It's not the best I've had, but probably the best you'll have around Columbus. They have a fenced in patio area behind Ace of Cups next to their food truck, so you can hang out with some friends and eat your meal.h read more

There was only one person in line, and two more showed up after us. 1. Grass-fed 1/2 lb beef brisket sandwich with two sides, $11 They have a grass-fed beef brisket special on Sundays. The brisket was pretty good, even though it just came between two pieces of bread, but the sides (baked beans and mac and cheese) were very mediocre. I was slightly disappointed with my stop at Ray Ray's Hog Pit after hearing such exceptional reviews about it. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich with a medium side if baked beans after waiting in the slow line for about 15 minutes. This came to $11 which seemed just slightly expensive for a simple sandwich and side from a food truck but nothing outrageous. The brisket was okay but somewhat dry and definitely needed some sauce. I wasn't a fan of the sweet sauce either- it had a cinnamon flavor that really overpowered the rest of the sauce and made it pretty mediocre overall. The bread was average as well. The baked beans, however, we're excellent with nice chunks of chopped pork through. Despite being disappointed with this visit, I may have to give Ray Ray's another shot sometime to see if this visit was simply a fluke. read more

Baby Back Ribs: really tough.. the meat wasn't falling off the bone like it should have. And there was waaayyy too much dry rub on it. I've had way better ribs from anywhere else. Enjoyed a good meal at Ray Ray's today. The tri tip was on special so I had to have it. From the bread, cheese, arugula and sauce all was good. But the meat was perfect. It is hard to find BBQ using this cut of meat. Next time I go it will be on a Sunday when they offer the grass fed brisket.
