The work crew and I decided to get lunch from here yesterday, which we got as takeout. Everyone ordered a variety of different things and everyone seemed quite pleased with their options. The local group also were very excited to be getting their food, so sounds like definitely a winner to those in the know. I opted for the 2 meat and 2 side lunch. I went with the pulled pork and smoked turkey with regular bbq sauce plus collard greens and potato salad. The pork and the turkey were both rock solid. Not necessarily a ton of smoky flavor from either, but both were tender, juicy, and delicious. Unfortunately, the collards were not to my liking. I hail from western NY and I can count on one hand how many times I've had them before and only once from a true southern/soul food joint. In this instance, I found them slightly bitter with the stems still quite crunchy and the juices on the less than pleasant side. I very rarely don't finish food and I couldn't do it. However, my coworker who also got the collards said they were fantastic, so I guess it's a preference thing. The potato salad honestly wasn't my favorite either. It had like almost an acidity to it that was different and slightly interesting, but almost a little overpowering for what I normally find to be a pretty low key side (for mayo-based potato salads, anyways). This one I did finish despite it not being my all-time favorite. Overall, a pretty solid experience, especially in the meat department. Maybe I just had bad luck with the sides and need to try others next time, but that part is holding me back from this being a really solid culinary experience. read more

The brisket was cooked perfectly with still having a nice soft bark and amazing flavor. Service was amazing as the cashier was playful and having fun. Someone who truly enjoys talking with people and watch them struggle with all the great food options. I love City Barbecue, let me tell you I am being dead serious when I say they have the best potato salad anywhere, it's SO GOOD! The pork and brisket were so nice and tender and had so much flavor. I'm a fan of the bushfire bbq sauce, it has a good kick to it. The banana pudding was so tasty! I came with a friend and she got the same thing and she was also raving about it. Stopped by City BBQ for lunch. Unfortunately, didn't see a lunch menu so I went with a combo pulled pork and bbq chicken, cole slaw and potato salad. The pulled pork was moist and tasted ok. The bbq chicken was dry and really lacked taste. I had to pour bbq sauce on it to eat it. Potato salad, cole slaw, and toast were good. I think the pulled pork would have been better between two slices of bread. I should have gotten ribs instead of the chicken. A lot of food for lunch. Would not try this combo again. read more

I've been a customer here for years and hadn't been in in a while. The food is always superb whether it be the main entrées or the sides. Stopped in tonight to get dinner and was really surprised at the scant portions, most notably, the ribs. As with all things, the prices increased unbelievably were five ribs, one side and a glass of water costing over $18. However, the ribs were so small. It was a little more than a snack, rather than a dinner. Love this place, but can't in good conscience return very often if this is the value one receives. read more

Went to City BBQ today for some brisket because I've had some co-workers rave about how good it is. I had no idea what to expect but this was the best lunch ever. Ordered the six piece wings (smoked) and fries! Truly wish I would've just went to get the three dollar bacon Ater from Wendy's instead of paying almost $13. It was awful. No smoky flavor on the wings. They were cooked good though french fries were awful asked for them crispy. You wouldn't even know it and why do they only offer two sized teas?
