My family and I went here for my daughters bday. The restaurant was slow because it was a weekday. It took over an hr and 15 mins to get our food because of a staff "kitchen fight". While we waited at the table a hostess seated 3 already drunk ppl behind us at the bar and within a few mins one of them started puking all over the floor 10ft behind us. It was disgusting! Management told the server he would make things right but never came to the table. No discount for the terrible service not even an apology. He left the waitress to deal with the awkward situation and could not be bothered even in a empty restaurant. He was even sitting at a table only a few feet away. I came here for my birthday lunch. We were sat quickly, which was nice. We came for the happy hour, seeing as regular prices are pretty steep and it was our first time. Start with the basics seemed like a great idea, right? WRONG. The ambiance gave the illusion that the food would match the prices. We were brought out the sloppiest looking rolls we've ever had. Some pieces much bigger than others, falling apart, and overall just not great quality. For the prices they charge normally, I'm glad we only had the happy hour menu. The service was also just okay. We weren't really checked on until plates were ready to be taken away. Meanwhile we watched other tables get prompt consistent attention. Perhaps it was the fact we were 2 of the only POC? The only other POC were sat directly behind us and actually spoke up about their food. Wish we had, we also work in the industry and understand it can always just be an off day. However, it seems it was a consistent issue. We were just visiting Redding for the weekend, and so excited to try this place out,as it came highly recommended through social media. Went with a large group tonight and had a so so dinner. We had a group of 11 and all had a drink at the bar before we ate. We brought wine to uncork and they wanted $20 bottle to uncork it. No one in Redding charges that much. The food was mediocre, pastas were dry and rolls were so okay. Absolutely nothing to brag about. We had ordered Oysters Rockefeller the day before because the last time my friend went there they didn't have it. But sure enough they didn't have it again less than a day after she had called and was guaranteed it would be there. Our server was lovely and apologized for a lot of things. she gets an A+. If they would have been able to flex a little(management) they wouldn't have lost the future business of 11 people as we won't be back and won't have many good things to say about RAW to others. read more

I ordered take-out from here before ever going inside. I was impressed with the quality of the sushi, so decided to try an in-person meal. Overall, I'd say this place still feels like a sports bar. Even though the decore is more upscale and the food is good, the pumping loud music and drunk bar crowd at 5pm is reminiscent of previous ventures. I recommend getting a reservation, at least on Friday night - there were people queued up waiting for a table. And if you don't want to shout over the music, I'd recommend getting one of the booths in back or the outside fire table. The Happy Hour menu is extensive on the food side, but I was disappointed there wasn't any HH specialty cocktails being offered - just draft beers, sake, and well drinks. I only tried the "sushi side" of the menu: everything was fresh, but nothing outstanding and some of the rolls are over-sauced. I will go back here, but it will be for drinks with coworkers or a night out with the girls. I'm not sure it's the right atmosphere for date night. read more

Went in for happy hour and thank god I did. The original prices for everything were expensive. I was fooled by the outside and inside and the prices thinking the food would be excellent. The sushi was just MID, the service was eh, and the ambiance was eh. I wasn't the only who felt that as the table behind me sent back all their food because of temperature and taste. I found this Sushi Bar in Redding, looked nice in a decent neighborhood. Order salmon nigiri and tuna nigiri, about $20.00. I received my order, 4 pieces total. I couldn't beleive how little I got for $20.00. They were of a medium size and they were ok, but way overpriced. No miso or salad came with the order. I debated on bringing up how unhappy I was on my order size plus I was still hungry. I paid the bill and told the waitress I'm sorry for the size of the tip. Just got to Redding with my mom. I flew in from Los Angeles. She drove up from Santa Rosa. Hotel manager recommended RAW. The grilled Seabass and ginger garlic sauce with red peppers and scallions was off the chain. Robert, the chef said his favorite was the poached Seabass, which my mother is officially. KVELLING over. And the other, Robert, our foxy, waiter, could not be sweeter.
