Called and talked to three people who all said the order was right. Then manager gets on phone says he did the order himself ! And it's orange chicken. Not going to replace it! Got to go here the other night after hearing great things about it from some locals. We were promptly and friendly greeted and sat at a table by the window. The dining area is on the smaller side, but not uncomfortable. The menu had so many options it was hard to choose, but we wanted to try a little of everything so we settled on some sushi rolls, Kung Pao chicken, and House Chow Mein. Everything tasted great! My tempura roll was light and fresh and the Awesome roll lives up to its name! Yum!!! The chow mein could have used a little more flavor but it was still delicious. The service was impeccable! I cook Chinese food as a hobby and have a whole refrigerator full of ingredients for it. I've tried practically every Chinese restaurant in Redding, and nobody is beating chu's II. On East Street. It even violates my preference against getting two kinds of food in one restaurant. They have really good sushi. I think the best comparison test is sizzling rice soup, because everybody makes a pretty good hot and sour soup chu's2 winds because of the light but very flavorful broth. I've been there at least 20 times and never tried anything there that I didn't enjoy completely. read more

We came to Chu's too on a roadtrip because I think we were craving sushi and soup after a long hike and it was nearby. Honestly, it's pretty good for where it is, like I wasn't expecting AMAZING chinese/japanese food but it exists! This place was close to our hotel so thought to check it out. Wish we had looked at the reviews first. Ordered a dish that was supposed to be chicken, beef and scallops. The only thing I could taste was the sauce which overwhelmed the soy protein pieces that are supposed to be meat. The scallops were real but again lost in the sauce. Husband's sushi = just ok. No wasabi or ginger included. Cute building, nice atmosphere but the food was truly disappointing. For $57 with tip, only drinking water, can't recommend this place. read more

I've read that "the best Asian restaurant in Redding" oh man how that didn't make it. TLDR: hoped for a hole in a wall, ended up being a disaster. Do NOT recommend going They have a parking lot with a lot of spaces available. Upon entry into the restaurant. I was greeted by a lady behind the sushi counter. And was instructed to take a seat, which the entire restaurant except one table was open, on the way to my seat there is a huge pile of menus to select from and I grab the top menu in one of the stacks. That menu was dirty and sticky. When I sat down on the table, there's already laid out silverware and napkin, and on the table are various condiments. (Like soy sauce, vinegar, salt and pepper, etc.) and a wine menu. All of which were completely sticky and all have not been cleaned. Prior to my order I received water with ice and fried wonton chips with various sauces (a nice free snack for dining in, but I didn't wish to eat those. The men's bathroom is gross and things should be be there like a water drain that's constantly flowing near the back of the toilet. Seems like they did a poor man's handiman's work there. I ordered the general chicken with a side of steam rice. The steam rice was actually the star of the show, nice airy and fluffy. The general (tso's) chicken on the other hand... I wouldn't even call that chicken. The sauce is like a typical sauce where it's nice and sweet and slightly spicy but that's about it. The "chicken" is not at all chicken... I cut them open and it just looks like batter that was fried in oil and shaped to look like chicken. The sauce masks the flavor of "chicken" so it's "delicious" and "good"... It costs ~$17 plus tip for that meal and I felt like I got completely robbed... I support local business but that is a scam to the customer and that's just terrible. Would not go back, I'd rather go to Panda Express or make it myself than to go here again read more

If you ever come through Redding and crave Chinese food, Chi's Too is the place. It is interesting that they are Japanese and Chinese restaurant but I find that they are more Chinese than Japanese. I ordered a family dinner for three and got an abundant amount of food that the three of us cannot finish. We got Egg Flower Soup with corn. Some Won Ton crisps, spring rolls and chef's salad as appetizers. California Roll was thrown in making to add the Japanese component to the dinner. The Yakitori Chicken were fantastic. Entrees include Beef with Broccoli and sweet and sour pork. Both were done well. The sweet and sour pork was done right with a crispy shell that is thin and light, not a heavy thick shell. The beef with Broccoli has a delicate taste. I feel that they are a cut above in terms of presentation, facilities, and taste. The only thing I noticed was, I had some left over sweet and sour pork. It was in the paper Chinese takeout box. I put the box in a plastic bag and then in a paper bag. The oil from the sweet and sour pork soaked through the paper takeout box, the plastic bag and the paper bag and was really gluey. That was a bit unusual. Chu's Too is located in the old Pine Street School House building; I believe it opened around 1985 or '86. We've enjoyed their food ever since. A good variety of delicious Szechuan foods but their spicy Mongolian beef plate is amazing! It's been my favorite since my first taste way back when. Add in some beef, pork, shrimp, or even egg fried rice, a little Almond Chicken or Sweet & Sour Pork and you can't miss. Service and ambiance is excellent, with tables well placed with spacing to allow a comfortable, uncrowded experience, even though the restaurant is not large. Some might call it quaint. I'm not a fan of sushi but my friends say it's can't miss so I'll go with that! Order in or take out, Chu's Too is worth it. read more

The wife and I love meeting at Chu's 2 for lunch. The lunch menu is an excellent value and the surroundings have an upscale "Bistro" feel. Great welcoming service. If the weather cooperates, grab a table on the patio. We love how they cook their Mongolian Beef. Tender beef strips browned in a HOT wok. No greasiness, or thick cornstarch coating, as is common at some places. Nice bright flavors, and light crispy, fried items. 5 star experience. read more

Sushi imho must be enjoyed at the restaurant ....the freshest sushi at the proper temperature is the best! Sushi is not a to go item even a 15 minute delay will effect the flavor. Chu's Too specializes in a wide variety of Chinese and Japanese entries. I ignored that fact 'cuz I'm always looking just for Sushi. I figured this would be a better place to start than Chick-Filet. My brother and I enjoyed many pieces of Nigiri, a few specialty rolls and a couple large beers. The service was exceptional. The food was great and the bill was in the $70 range. read more

Way better than expected. This is an American Chinese restaurant that also serves sushi rolls. Both are delicious. Sakura roll- lots of ingredients. Rice is the right texture. Tastes fresh Scallops, shrimp and chicken with veggie (lunch special 17)- it tastes much better than it looks. The man that serves us was funny and friendly. Ide give this place a 4.5/10. We go the general TSO chicken. Beef chow mien and the pork fried rice and got a CA roll on the side. The chow mien was bland and the beef seem boiled then flash fried. The pork fried rice was good 4/5 on that. The chicken I was expecting it to be bit a bit crunchy but it was soft but flavor was good 4/5 on that. Not the best place to get sushi rollls. I ordered the rock in roll sushi roll, it had barely any eel in it. Also it had imitation crab in it, which did not taste pleasant with the eel. If Vladimir Putin and Zelensky decided to dine at Chu's Too, the war would be over the food is that good. The fried rice was chief's kiss, absolutely perfect. If I had a di%%, I would f#%^ that rice.
