COFFEE SHOP INSIDE the DELI (3 stars)…read more I was under the impression this was a coffee shop/roaster but I was mistaken (maybe, maybe not, I don't know). This is inside a mom and pop deli ran by the same 2 owners and not so much a coffee shop but a place "to get a quick up of coffee". Finding this place was easy, right off the main road between small offices and warehouses, with a couple tables outside, a sign that says coffee, and the deli. I walked in confused asking someone where is Aperture Coffee and was old inside (Keary Mesa Deli). It seemed like a popular place for both food and coffee. Upon walking in, the place is small with a few seats. I saw only three bags of their brand beans, two owners who are busy with the morning crowd of people ordering breakfast items, a nothing special espresso machine, and not one to really judge but they didn't look like hardcore coffee connoisseur. CARAMEL ICED LATTE ($5.50) - it was average. the strength in their beans was medium roast but I didn't fill any jitter thru the day. The caramel syrup flavor was a heavy pour and covered up any discovery of bean profile. I can pass on the coffee and may come back to try Kearny Mesa Deli for a sandwich.

I got the iced lavender latte and an iced matcha green tea. The matcha was pretty good and tasted matcha-y and not watered down . The lavender latte was also good and not too sweet like some place's lattes. Overall, I'd love to come back but the hours are kind of restrictive as they're not open on weekends and they close at 2PM. The service is friendly and quick as well, and plenty of parking.

It has that bold cold brew taste without being bitter or overly acidic, and the nitro gives it a really creamy texture without needing anything added. A lot of places struggle with consistency when it comes to cold brew, but they absolutely nail it here. You can tell they care about quality and the coffee itself tastes clean, strong, and well-crafted. Easily one of my favorite spots for cold brew.

The staff are always great, and the coffee is consistently high quality. It's one of my go-to comfort spots when I just want a guaranteed good latte. Their lattes are super creamy, and I usually order mine half sweet, which ends up being the perfect balance for me. They also have a nice selection of pastries to go with your drink. Parking is a bit limited right out front, but there's usually street parking nearby if you don't mind a short walk. Overall, a dependable spot for really good coffee and a great local favorite.

The space itself is beautiful. Set within the mall but housed in its own standalone brick-and-mortar building, the architecture really sets it apart and makes the place feel warm and inviting. The see-through windows, the bar seating along the windows that open up, and the one-way traffic across the cafe...all screams cozy and articulate. I like that they post the menus outside too, in case of long lines, so that you don't flip and freak out when you get to the front and don't know what to order. What I've tried off their menu so far, were Americanos, Lattes, hot and cold. Cold drinks are my default though, you can never go wrong with iced coffee. Their white chocolate is popular, they run out quick, but regular choco does well in a pinch. I absolutely love the part where they give the cup to you at the end of the bar, for adjustments and adding in more milk/sugar. And also to see latte art before closing your cup. I don't know what it is, but that part in aspect allows you to take some time to appreciate coffee in general and then go back to the real world. It's just the little things that matter. Also, the employees are just always super uber nice here. They don't judge you for ordering two cups of coffee in one go, they actually commend the action!

I asked for the girl that worked at the counter to please only make it slightly sweet. It was absolutely perfect. Just the slightest hint of gingerbread, not that sweet. Didn't overpower the fantastic roast on the beans. She was very nice, she delivered it to me on the patio and even offered to remake it if I didn't like the sweetness level. I could tell the coffee was very much my taste. I went back inside after I finished my latte and talked to the girl at the counter for a little while. She helped me choose a bag of coffee to bring home, talk to me about the flavor, nuances and let me smell them, etc.. She also introduced me to the owner/Roster who happened to be there at the time. He and his wife are from Columbia and all of their beans are sourced from there and then he roasts them for sale locally. He was telling me that he's been roasting coffee beans in San Diego for other coffee shops and he still does that but he opened his first coffee shop in 2018. I truly had so many more questions, but I could tell he was busy and didn't want to bother him, he was trying to finish up the roasts on all of the specialty coffees for the holiday gift packs!

I brewed it this morning and have to say their Finca Samaria is very, very good! Cako approves!
