I am posting this to help out my fellow vegans and vegetarians. Yohed offers two non-dairy milk options: Oat and Almond. I was planning to get a plain old cold brew, but I thought I would get a cappuccino since it was only 8:00 am on a Sunday, and I wanted to see if they had non-dairy milk, since Yelp's AI told me to call ahead. I really enjoyed my cappuccino; the place smelled like heavenly spices, and I loved that so many Arsenal fans were crammed inside to watch the game today. If Arsenal plays Everton, I am going to wander up there so that I can catch the game and enjoy a fabulous cup of just plain black coffee or cold brew. Simple place, decorated well, and it has a warm atmosphere. I will be back since it's only a quarter of a mile from where I am living temporarily here. read more

Cute local Ethiopian coffee shop; we got an iced coffee (5/5 on flavor, good size 14 or 16oz) a cappuccino (not recommended; 3/5 super milky no foam) and a chornake puff bread pastry which was a delicious treat to share. The person behind the counter was really friendly and the walls had lots of cute art, there was plenty of seating inside and a soccer match on TV. Also nice is a 15 minute parking spot outside for grab and go. read more

If you're looking for legit "small batch" coffee, this is it! Dave is one of the most welcoming baristas around and very kind hearted. Their coffees are imported straight from Ethiopia and he roasts them in-house. Small batches at a time, you can even watch him doing his magic on some visits. If you really want to enjoy the coffee and its notes and flavors, please drink it black. This place has been in my coffee shop try list for a couple of months now and since I wasn't too far from it today I decided to finally give it a try. The guy working there was very nice and even though I didn't see a menu I asked the guy what he had. He asked me how I usually like my coffee and I told him I like to taste the coffee with a hint of sweetness and cream and over ice. He made it right away and I saw some finger foods in the front and as a lover of East African food, I decided to try the sambusa. It's a very cozy spot with seating inside and some outside and lots of art. The coffee was spot on as to what I usually like and the sambusa was filling with the coffee. I've passed by this little coffee a few times last week and it kept me wondering hmmmm I wonder how Ethiopian coffee tastes so today I was in the area again and I said fuck it lets see what it's all about. Came into the shop idk if it was the owners or just friends or customers but they were hanging out inside the shop and outside and everyone was so dam friendly !! Yohed is such a gentle soul ! He asked how I wanted my coffee and I told him I like extra sweet but this time I wanted it sweet but I wanted to taste the actual coffee and omg I was mind blown it's bomb !! It's so cool because I've never ever in my life tried Ethiopian coffee and it's so far in Africa for us to have locally is simply just awesome. His shop is super clean spacious and beautiful to look at while he makes your coffee for you. I think, this is the first Ethiopian coffee shop I have been to, and I am sure glad I did visit it, because they not only make some terrific Ethiopian coffee but some nice eats as well. The owners are a nice Ethiopian couple. This coffee shop is their baby, and I can tell because the lady of the house is sure putting a lot of love into these lentil filled samosas she makes. They are delicious and offer a great texture. The lentils inside are simply prepared, but well prepared with a light natural seasoning. The crust is light and crisp and seasoned with a touch of salt. The gentleman of the house, made me the macchiato and it was quite good. It was quite robust and the Ethiopian brew was strong but smooth and full flavored. The coffee shop offers sandwiches, pasties, and of course the lentil samosas which are going to be a hit. They have a collection of seating inside and free Wi-Fi. Great little coffee shop! read more

Came here to try the coffee, but it was the lentil samosa that wow'd me. I didn't expect it to be THAT full of flavor. It was spicy, was not dry, and complimented the nicely fried exterior very well. We found out about Yohed Coffee after reading Jack M.'s review on Yelp, and being a big Ethiopian food fan (Abyssinia in Anaheim and Zeni in San Jose are our favorites), we were excited to try this special Ethiopian coffee shop. Yohed Coffee is a family-owned business, and the owners are very welcoming and genuine. The brew here is rich and strong, and with sugar and milk, tastes marvelous. The coffee shop is clean and comfortable, with slow jazz playing in the background, before we knew it, my fiance and I ended up sitting there for four hours chatting away! We also noticed these cute Ethiopia-shaped keychains with "Ethiopia" and "I love Ethiopia" written in Amharic at the counter. We purchased one for $1. I observed lots of locals come here for their morning/early afternoon coffee, and it's a great local business. Definitely recommend if you are in the El Cajon/City Heights area. I stopped by this Ethiopian coffee spot in City Heights on one of my walks. The menu is straighforward with nothing crazy - maybe 4-5 types of coffee and a few different teas. Peanut tea caught my eye and I'd like to try that sometime just because I've never had it. I just got a regular coffee with cream and it was really good. They frothed it up a bit which I enjoyed. I noticed they sell beans as well. Friendly service and atmosphere. Soccer game on TV when I was there. I sat at the lone table outside with my coffee and cake which was relaxing. I visit yohed today with my coworkers. It was all of our first times and we loved it! The lentil sambusas were of course delicious, but we tried the caramel lattes and spice teas. We had that with the pasti and all of us were satisfied. The owner served us, very respectful man and very friendly, we all appreciated his help. I highly recommend this place, the quality is noted in the drinks too. For me, the tea was my favorite, reminded me of my family during the holidays. They serve really good coffee, have great service and also have some great pastries which I wish I could have daily. Its a good location to grab a quick bite and have some really good coffee. They have a few tables outside as well as inside, if you're looking to people watch you can enjoy the outside or stay inside and hangout with people and/or watch tv. I had a macchiato and sambusa. I came to San Diego for a visit. My husband took me to this coffee shop. I had the best macchiato freshly roasted and brewed from the origin of coffee Ethiopia. This is an amazing coffee shop and a must try in San Diego. I had the ginger tea and baklava. The tea was spicy, delicious, and unsweetened. Came here based on an internet search and reviews wanting to try some good Ethiopian coffee after having a delicious Ethiopian lunch nearby. It's a very small shop with a simple menu (great prices) and located on the street front of University Avenue so I can see parking being a bit of a challenge at times but we luckily found a spot directly in front and quickly. it has a small table with a couple of chairs out front on the sidewalk . Inside it's a clean and charming little shop with a great feel but with only a few tables and places to sit. The barista whom I assumed was the owner (but not certain) was very welcoming, and genuinely very nice. we ordered a few drinks and sat at a table for the next hour+. Not extremely busy but there were a few people sitting at other tables/ seats and a few people in & out. The drinks were great! We even bought some fresh coffee grounds to go after they roasted the beans in house. great place to grab a coffee to go or with a friend(s), reading, to chill, people watch on the Avenue etc. not sure if it's a good setting for larger groups or studying. read more

Tiny, locally-owned, and great. The coffee is fantastic, like really delicious, beans roasted in-house. As I type I'm waiting an estimated 20-30 minutes for a couple of pounds to get roasted so I can take them home. Can't get fresher than that! And at $6/lb (+ a couple bucks to roast it), you also can't beat the price. I'm a programmer and have never had any issue with the WiFi here. The service is friendly, the lentil sambusas are cheap and delicious; I love this place. I'm extremely disappointed that there's a damn Starbucks going up a few doors down. If you're in the neighborhood, and want a coffee, skip the Starbucks that you already know and come check this place out; there will be no going back. read more
