I really wanted to give this place more stars, but the coffee didn't do it for me. Iced horchata latte 1/5 I didn't taste horchata flavor at all, I was surprised because he said it was a homemade syrup. The coffee flavor wasn't as strong as well, to me it was a watered down latte with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Iced matcha latte 3/5 I don't matcha but my daughter had it and she said it was okay. Cinnamon roll 2/5 Pastry tasted artificial and was half way warmed up. Service 4/5 Friendly walked the drinks lit to us outside. Inside is cute and small felt and looked clean. I wouldn't mind giving this place another try. Not sure if it's worth it to me though.
Friendly staff, good coffee, house made syrups, and burritos on certain days. Stopped in after a run for a little pick me up. The coffee shop is pretty small, but there are benches to sit in while you wait. The cold brew is strong and not bitter at all. I also went with the cortadito which was delicious. Not too sweet and great flavor. I didn't try the burritos, but they have a few options and two different kinds of salsa to accompany them. I will be back soon for a regular cortado. Based on what I've had so far I'm expecting good things.
Soo good! We tried the horchata latte and the horchata flavor was so strong while still keeping the drink very espresso forward. Neither overpowered the other. The service was great as well, they gave us suggestion and were super friendly and despite the long line the drinks came out really quick. This coffee shop is truly a neighborhood hidden gem.

A coffee shop located in Sherman Heights! I've actually never been in this neighborhood before, but it was pretty nice. The shop is a standalone (no other businesses next door) and they have a nice seating area inside and out. The exterior has a lovely color scheme of black, teal blue, white, and orange. You won't miss it when you drive past! They do have some parking spots in the front-- but most people parked around the block. The owner, Michael, was super friendly and gave us recommendations of where to go for amazing views! (Panoramic photographs). I went with their $6.50, 12 oz, Hot Orange Creamsicle Latte with Whole Milk. I typically get iced although it was quite chilly and overcast in the morning so I ordered this hot. It was delightfully delicious! The orange citrus notes came through beautifully-- all fresh tasting, no hint of extract. The vanilla was nicely balanced as well, and the drink was the perfect ratio of milk vs espresso. I would highly recommend this drink! Also, my friend ordered the Iced Orange Creamsicle Matcha and stated that it was one of the best flavors (so good that when we came back from our walk she had to order another). Since it was a new space for me I didn't know where all the lids, straws, napkins, etc were but Michael helped me out-- which I am very thankful for. He even decorated the top of the drink with a dehydrated orange slice. It was very nice. I liked that! & the fact that their work space was very clean and organized. I can't wait to come back to order a diff specialty latte, I heard they have a nice guava one or a cold foam topped drink. They do have some pastries, etc as well. I'd recommend coming to check this spot out!
I wish I came here sooner, Barrio Coffee is everything you would want in a local coffee shop and more. The baristas were down to earth and took the time to get to know me and my dog. I got the horchata latte and the cinnamon pastry initially and there was a mix up with my order, so they gave me the piloncillo latte and a cheese danish at no cost which was not needed but super nice. Everything was delicious but the best one by far was the horchata latte it truly was the best one I've ever had from anything in San Diego. They also have other food items to choose from. They didn't have whole coffee beans to buy, but it's in the works so hopefully soon! Make time to stop by here, you won't regret it!!
Friendly service when we entered! Lots of seating! I never expect a perfect drink but I always atleast hope for a little flavor. I drank my coffee halfway to be exact, trying to see it through in silence of my real opinion. After being the one to suggest this place to my girls I didn't want to sound negative or interrupt their own opinion. They got 2 hot coffees, one pilloncillo and guava. After a couple sips each, when we were in the car, I confessed I was not satisfied with my drink. Then my 2 girls with hot coffees agreed, we concluded each drink was too bland and had almost a bitter aftertaste, all tasting similar although being different flavors? Maybe we chose the wrong drinks for us.
Love supporting local businesses. The welcomed us as we came in which is nice and the female barista explained the menu . I ended up order a x3 shot horchata with cold foam it was a bit pricey 11.00 but it was very tasty the syrup is homemade and it had a nice balance . Didn't taste too much like horchata but it was still good
Cool spot at the corner of G and 25th. Small selection of pastries. Nice seasonal menu in addition to their regular menu. Medium size coffee shop with lots of cool art on the walls. Not the place to work from as they only have one table. However, they have three large benches and some plants. Nice large window with lots of natural light. A few tables outside with shade. Looking forward to trying some of their iced lattes in the future!!
First time ever being introduced to this flavor & let me tell you was it wonderful. Rich, creamy & smooth. I love their matcha overall and the flavors get better every time! The service is always friendly and helpful. I enjoy that they have local cash back on Cash App now too! Easy to use & comes in handy. The vibe in this cafe definitely is nice & relaxing as well!
My boyfriend lives in this hood and we keep eyeing this spot. We do Sunday morning walks and decided to stop by and try it out. I digged the decor and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. I wanted to try something that was outside the box that you can find at a chain coffee shop. The cashier recommended the oatchata latte. My boyfriend got the cold brew horchata. We were both impressed and enjoyed our drinks. They were so good! We officially found a new local coffee shop.
Saw this coffee shop posted on IG! Had to try the vanilla bean latte. Ordered 3 drinks: 1:Mexican Mocha hot with oat milk was the best I have had in San Diego!! 2: Iced vanilla bean latte made with house made vanilla syrup with 3 different vanillas was delicious. You can tell that it's not just some torani or artificial syrups being pumped into my coffee! 3: Piloncillo latte with oatmilk. I thought this was going to have a cafe de la olla vibe but it was totally different. Very refreshing and you could taste the piloncillo! Overall I LOVED the coffee. The service was also great! They were friendly and you can tell they back and take pride in the quality of their coffee! I will definitely be back! read more

Heard about this place on Instagram and I was in the area on a Saturday morning at 10AM. There was plenty of parking outside so my wife and I had no trouble parking around the corner. We were greeted right away and the service was pretty good since they were nice. We ordered the vanilla latte on ice with oat milk and it came it super quick. The drink was so good and had a distinct coffee flavor and not too sweet. The perfect balance We hung out inside for a bit since there was plenty of parking and AC (which is a godsend after this ridiculous heatwave). The music was blasting and regulars were greeting each other. It was a super chill place to hang out. I'd easily come back. read more
I recently revisited Barrio Coffee and had an iced matcha latte and a locally baked cinnamon bun. The matcha latte was very well made and delicious. It was clean with a rich grassy finish and a subtle sweetness, even without adding any sweetener to the beverage. The cinnamon roll was very good too. The hospitality was first rate. The young lady working the counter was very nice and offered great service. They offer locally made breakfast burritos in the mornings, baked goods and pastries, and a full espresso bar with some great coffees. read more

I order an ice latte, and it was delicious. I came to order a burrito but sadly, they ran out and it was about 10:30am when i came in, so if you want one, i say try to come as early as possible. I'll have to make a trip again for that! The people were nice and very friendly. It was clean, smelled nice, overall cute little coffee shop. read more

Newest coffee shop in the area. The drinks are very good. You can tell the owner took his time crafting his menu to see what works. Aside from their coffee, the matcha is also a must order. They offer pastries and lonchera-style burritos (while supplies last). read more

Great coffee and even better service! Tried the iced horchata latte with banana cold foam recommended by the staff and did not disappoint. The perfect amount of sweetness ! The coffee shop itself has lots of seating and overall great ambiance. Can't wait to come back again. read more
