Always fast and delicious drive up service
Josh W.

Slipping around the corners of your thoughts? Caffeine gauge moving closer towards empty? Want a little turbo boost? I was three for three of the aforementioned yesterday when I pulled in for the pit stop at this mechanic themed coffee shop. I was in P6, but fortunately cafe Moto must be taking notes from Formula 1 because the entire corral was cleared in minutes ready to hot lap the day. Foot powered coffee drinkers rest easy: there is a walk up section and outdoor seating insulated from the vehicular traffic. The Cubano was excellent and the cold brew is always strong and tasty!

First of all I love the branding - an old service shop turned coffee. The coffee is delicious and I'm working my way through the menu. They have pastries including vegan to enjoy with your coffee.

First and foremost Cafe Moto has the best beans in California, and I have fond memories of dining in and enjoying a great cappuccino sitting at their counter with friends a few days a week prior to COVID19. These days my visit is lackluster and failing to meet up to the hype of my memories. They only offer walk-up or drive through service and either way you wait 15-20 minutes for a beverage and it's lukewarm accompanied by a cold dry pastry. Depressing! Ambiance non-existent, but Lili is friendly and customer service oriented.

Best coffee say the locals...I think I can agree with that. Busy with walk up window and drive through, yet the system seems to be on point. Ordered a lavender vanilla latte with almond milk. Loved it! What i loved even more though was the Chai Latte. Wow, was that a perfect blend. I only took a few sips from my husband's, but it was delicious. I get it! Hype is real with this one

Big special thank you to Sam and the crew at Cafe Moto for helping out. Sam did an awesome job by providing a donation of coffee beans, the coffee beans that were donated will help out with sensory for kids with autism. We really appreciate Cafe Moto thank you, Sam we really appreciate everything you have done thank you very much. The coffee is very good especially the Mexican mocha..

Delicious coffee. Mostly consistent. I used to visit this place when they had blended options i miss those sm!!!. Our drinks were delivered by Ben the manager. He was so professional and resolving after a small inconvenience. He even went as far as offering a discount but his kind attention was more than enough. Thank you ben for your cool personality.

Cold coffee with no ice equals to half a cup

I'm completely disappointed that this place will serve you only half a cup of coffee for an iced coffee and fill up the rest with ice. I asked for a cold coffee with no ice since I wanted to drink it later and didn't want to compromise the flavor once the ice melted and they literally gave me half cup of coffee! What a joke!

Best coffee shop in San Diego can't go wrong with their Mexican Mocha or Dirty Chai! Baristas are a delight and and service always amazing. I do wish they would open the inside again.

I had seen moto coffee being served in other establishments but this was my first time trying it straight from the source! I love that they have a drive thru and the red cones they put for your order really keeps the atmosphere in theme to the car shop vibes, I tried a season white mocha with cranberry and almond milk I didn't really taste much cranberry but the drink was delicious, I love the flavor of the coffee and how it mixed well with the white mocha and didn't overpower it

Turn here for amazing coffee!

If you can drink their coffee black, and it's delicious, you'll want to share the location with friends. Cafe Moto's coffee is that delicious. To be fair, this roaster/importer/coffee shop is off my beaten path. My cousin (from LA) has been raving about this place for the last couple of months though, so since the holidays are here, I figured I should go get him some coffee. One of the best things about Cafe Moto is how knowledgeable their baristas are. When I looked online I realized they have a full range of single origin coffees and roasts. They also have their Blue Sky blend. So much happy coffee beans it could make your head spin. Here's where the baristas come in - they can tell you all about the different flavor notes, how deeply the coffee's been roasted, etc. so that you come away with a couple of bags of beans that are bound to please. Be prepared for the teeny tiny parking lot in back, adjacent to the drive through, or the on street parking up front. The coffee is worth the effort!

Cafe Moto, a city coffee shop in Barrio Logan, launched Cafe Moto in 1990 but has been roasting coffee in San Diego since the 1960s . However, I first recently tried Moto Coffee while dining at a local eatery in San Diego. From my first sip to the end of the cup, I enjoyed the rich flavors and high-quality taste. The next weekend, wanting more Moto Coffee, I drove down the freeway to Barrio Logan to purchase a bag for home brewing. Cafe Moto offers a wide variety of coffees and prepares each cup to perfection. Beyond their excellent coffee, their culture, vision, and values are impressive, and I was happy to support this local San Diego business. If you want delicious coffee, give Cafe Moto a try, or order from them online if you can't visit in person. It's that good. https://cafemoto.com/about/culture/

A fantastic cafe with a great tea selection as well! The staff is always very nice and insightful whenever we're doing our annual stock up of loose leaf tea. It's got a cute little walk up and a drive through (sorta). It's worth driving out of the way for!

Best coffee shop in San Diego in my opinion. Love the coffee. Love the staff. Super custom sweetie is my go too and you can't beat the price. Not to mention their pastries

Ask the Community - Cafe Moto

Which beans do they use for their vanilla latte's?

The last time I asked, it was their house beans. "Espresso Moto".

Can you buy a growler of the cold brew?

They have what looks like oil jugs full!

Do you guys also sell your unroasted green beans or teach roasting classes? Love your coffee!

Yes we sell green beans, ask in the store whats in stock.

Is there iced almond lattes?

We stock almond milk and can prepare an iced almond latte. Oatmilk has been the most popular lately.

The road to Money Trees was somewhat chaotic for me, but I am glad I got to try this unique drink. Ultimately, I would rate this a 3.5ish for me, but I do tend to round up for small businesses. My tip for anyone reading this review is that the hours are not exact on any site I checked. Since Morning Dew is run by one person, I definitely understand that it's more difficult to start precisely on time. I would advise either clearer communication of daily hours on their IG, or to simply come by later to give them some cushion for set-up. I ended up waiting an hour from the listed opening time for the owner to finish setting up. Thankfully, there were plenty of things to do in the surrounding area, and I took a nice stroll, popping in and out of shops in the area. Morning Dew is located in Jaguar Paw, which is a bar at night. The space is super cute and the menu has many unique drinks that tempted me, but I ended up going with Money Trees, which has pandan and banana. I have never had a banana-flavored drink before but I saw a lot of hype around these types of drinks, so I wanted to give them a try myself. It was pretty pricy but as a sweet-treat advocate, I wanted to try something new. Upon first sip, I was hit with strong pandan and banana flavors. There was a slightly astringent aftertaste from the banana, so I do feel like the flavor is from real fruit and not artificial syrup. Unfortunately, it was not my favorite drink as I think I prefer more matcha-forward options. It was also a bit thinner than I prefer, so it felt like a banana juice. While I am intrigued by some of the other drinks on offer, I do not think Morning Dew will become part of my regular rotation. Between the prices, location, and hours, this is definitely a special occasion, friends-in-town type of spot for me.

The menu featured various matcha tea drinks which seems to be all the rage right now. The same seating arrangement of the bar countertop and tables across from it was available if you wanted to hang out and chill. A sign behind the bar described the ceremonial grade matcha that was used with the region of origin and the flavors imparted to the powder. Five different matcha drinks were offered along with hot and cold coffees and lattes. The top three matcha choices were priced at $8 each. I chose the Ordinary Pleasure which was the first one. Pandan sticky rice milk and mango puree were added to the matcha and topped with a salted coconut foam. I wasn't a fan of the foam, but the matcha flavor was intense and contrasted by the fruity puree on the bottom of the cup. The baristas were very focused with measuring the exact amounts for each ingredient in the drinks they were preparing. The matcha quality seemed to be very good based on what I tasted so maybe it's why the price was $1 higher than what I have tried elsewhere.

Unfortunately, there were no signs or guidance showing where the line should be directed, which made things confusing from the beginning. By the time I reached the front, the owner (I'm assuming) a woman with glasses and long black hair spoke to me in a passive-aggressive tone and told me the line was actually on the other side. Given the setup, it wasn't obvious at all. There's a fence directly in front of the shop, and with the large crowds that day, it was even more chaotic. I tried to be understanding and moved to the correct spot, but while I was waiting for my drink, she repeated the same interaction with several other customers in the same tone. People were clearly confused, walking around the fence trying to figure things out, and without any guidance, I saw multiple customers leave frustrated. Customer service, especially from the owner, was disappointing and could definitely be improved particularly during busy events when clear communication matters most. That said, I'll give credit where it's due: the drinks were great. I'd rate my banana coffee a solid 4.5/5, it was delicious, and the heart-shaped straw was a really cute touch. If you're running a business, especially in a high-traffic setting, better organization and customer service would make a huge difference.

The place is located on one of the main strips in the community, Logan Ave, near Salud. This is the only local street in which I have seen vehicles parallel park in the median of the road without any concern from law enforcement. It is certainly an unorthodox solution to help with the parking situation as the legal curbside spaces fill up quickly. There was an outdoor kitchen setup behind the house including a wood-fired pizza oven, smoker, Santa Maria grill, and fire pit. All of the seating was al fresco either at tables in the front patio or at picnic tables in the backyard and deck. You walk up the steps and through the front door to place your order at the service counter in the main room. Some prepared foods and drinks were available as grab and go items. Pizzas and paella will be the main focus of their menu. For the soft opening, four pizzas, a vegan paella, and skirt steak tacos were the choices. I chose the last item for my meal. Arracherra skirt steak, grilled onions, and chiles were accompanied by flour tortillas and guacasalsa. The components were placed on a rectangular cutting board as a serving vessel. The steak was cooked medium rare and then sliced into pieces that could fit inside a tortilla. The two grilled chiles had a nice smoky flavor to them. The avocado based salsa added a creaminess to the meat and vegetables. For the food quality and relaxed outdoor setting, I gave a four star rating for my initial experience at Cafe Califas.

We didn't know what the menu would be until we went inside, but we weren't disappointed when we learned it was wood fired pizza, a personal favorite. Our sausage/mushroom pizza was delicious!
