Laguna Hills, Ca. Upon entering I saw that the line to order was 6 customers. I just left but soon found the other two eateries in this shopping center had much longer waits so I came back after about 15 minutes and the line had not moved at all. I decided to be patient and stood in line. Eventually the line moved at a decent pace even if on the slow side. The two gentlemen doing all the prep and waiting on customers were very fastidious and professional. I ordered corned beef on rye which came to my table hot. It was an impressive one inch thick stack of corned beef. The only downsides to this sandwich was the physical size of the rye bread which was very small so the thick stack of corned beef rapidly tapered off to a minimum. The other downside was that the corned beef was much more chewy than what I like. It was thinly sliced to try to account for this imperfection but failed. Unless you have very sharp incisors, when you bite in, a large amount of meat comes dragging out. I really don't care for that, never have, never will. I was expecting the beef to have a bit more brine to the taste as well as a bit more cooked, but it was decent and I did indeed eat it all. The rye bread, while tiny was excellent with great flavor. I think overall it is not an $18 sandwich. The fries are awesome and you get a lot of them. They use large potatoes when cutting so some of the fries are 8 inches long. Not at all greasy or oily, very nice. Upon returning on another day, the wait time was well over 30 minutes. You will have to decide if the food is worth it. Today I tried the Rueben. It was very good. The corned beef today was tender and moist. The sour kraut was excellent, tasted home made but could have been out of a jar, I don't know. The rye bread is the same tiny size as used on the corned beef Sammy, making for an expensive sandwich. The amount of meat makes up for it a bit, for lunch it is a good portion. No fries today, the "Machine" is broken. The bag of chips was ok but not a perfect substitute. The gelato bar was totally meh. Almost no flavor at all. I'm not too keen on trying a different flavor. Upon opening the wrapper I found the bar covered in freezer ice, like it had been in there for a long time. Yuck. On a third visit I found the brisket on rye to be excellent. Very good flavor and plenty of meat. I tried another gelato bar and found the variety with chocolate had good flavor and not tasteless as the dolce leche was. However, this bar also had freezer frost. On yet another visit I had the pastrami. It was a generous heap of pastrami on the same small rye. I'm getting accustomed to that now. The pastrami was just a bit too fatty for my liking but it was delicious and surprisingly tender. Today's gelato bar will be my last one, I now know they all probably have freezer burn. The texture is altered also, the bars have been thawed and refrozen. Avoid. read more

I was glad I tried, but I won't be coming back. My group of three had tongue, brisket, and tuna with a matzo ball soup each. The sandwiches were good. Tasty meat and generous portions. The potato salad had a definite freezer-burn or deli case musty taste to it. My soup was fine, but one of my friends said their matzo ball was cold in the middle. The clincher was that the staff seemed annoyed to have customers at all. We walked in just around 11:30am to a nearly empty restaurant and an exasperated team behind the counter. Was craving a pastrami sandwich so I looked for a place on Yelp and saw that Kosher Bite was nearby. Ordered a pastrami sandwich on a french roll with side of French fries. Costed about $15 total. It came out not too long after ordering and it looked delicious. Was a bit disappointed with the portion size but it is what it is. However, the sandwich did not disappoint - one of the better pastrami sandwiches in the OC. I love a great pastrami sandwich but they are increasingly difficult to find. The last time I had one at Sherman's in Palm Springs it was disappointing, same with Zabar's in New York. However, I had an amazing pastrami sandwich here with a side of potato salad. For a little extra I got the lean pastrami, which was incredibly flavorful and made me feel a little less guilty. Kosher Bite's pastrami sandwich really is the best I've had in South Orange County. If you love pastrami sandwiches it's worth a drive to have the one here. It's a really good size too. The one good thing about the DMV in the plaza is that there is this place to come and grab a real hot dog and gelato bars! The shop reminds me of the deli that my Bomama used to take me to in San Francisco when I was a kid. The shop is much smaller but they have some great stuff. A hot dog will run you about $5 bucks but it is quality and loaded with the works. Basically, you can get a hot dog and the gelato bar for under $8 bucks and that is like a whole meal. Try paying $8 bucks anywhere else for lunch. And.... the hot dog is delicious! Do not forget to try the gelato bar. The shop itself is small. It is clean and open and sprinkled with New York Charm throughout. They have a lot of food options here including the more traditional dishes. Parking is easy. This side of the plaza is reserved for customers and No DMV parking is allowed. Customer Service- They greet you and get the job done. They know what they are doing and get you what you want. Kosher Bite is the best local Jewish deli I've found so far after having moved here about 6 months ago. The little place may be unassuming, but its food is the BEST. I would highly recommend it. My favorite is the corned beef Reuben sandwich. I also always buy my Jewish rye bread there. Other ryes, especially grocery store ryes just do not cut it. They are all just so processed and do not really represent Jewish rye. Kosher Bite also makes their own challah bread on site. I would call ahead of time, since they are always busy and may be sold out, especially at the end of their day. The service and staff is always very friendly and helpful.
