The menu lets you choose each protein as a pita, sandwich, or plate, which made it easy for everyone to find something they wanted. It is on the pricier side, but that's fairly typical for kosher restaurants. The schnitzel was crispy, flavorful, and delicious. The minute steak was packed with flavor and paired perfectly with the grilled onions and peppers. The portions were generous, and all of the sides we tried were excellent. The hummus and fresh pita were also standouts and the perfect way to start the meal. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and were so happy to find a restaurant that everyone--especially my uncles--could enjoy. We'd definitely come back the next time we're in San Diego.

It was really busy inside on a Sunday afternoon, but just went to get a pick-up order we placed about thirty minutes prior. Showed up a few minutes before the pickup time and it was ready-- but the pita was so soggy after taking it on a 5 minute drive home. The shawarma flavor was interesting & got better as we bit into it further to get to the sauces inside, but the soggy pita made it hard to thoroughly enjoy. I had asked for sauces on the side and they gave a bunch of the tahini sauce, which was meh. And some honey mustard sauce which was also meh. Perhaps they had made the order significantly before the reported pick-up time, which I can understand, but just an overall mid experience.

The place is rarely full and we are also always quickly seated. We often sit outside on the patio. They have a lot of items to select from and we have always enjoyed what we got. We usually get the same server and she is always friendly. I have also ordered breakfast items for lunch with no issues. My only concern is that the menu is so big that rarely ordered items could get dodgy but we have never had that issue. I would say if that is your concern order something that shows up a lot on the menu or that is guaranteed fresh like produce for example (that can't be frozen and you can see it is good right away) We will be back.

The service was good, though I hated watching our server balance our meals on one hand while answering the phone. Luckily, she didn't linger too long. We probably won't come back- just because we were just trying something new, we have other breakfast places we love for the future. The omelet was wonderful. The well- done filet mignon was more like medium well with a bit too much red for my taste. And, I'm always sorry when a cook thinks laying cheese on top of the scrambled eggs is the same thing as scrambled eggs with cheese. What was most memorable was the way at least two different staff members checked to make sure we had what needed in terms of coffee refills, etc

We were initially aiming for the crispy shawarma however only Mira Mesa and La Mesa does it. So I guess that's next on our list! The wraps were unexpectedly big! This is probably the biggest wrap I ever had! Generous with meat and veggies. Their wagyu egg rolls are definitely must have! Falafel fries is really good too! All of these perfectly paired with their garlic sauces. My favorite is spicy lemon garlic! The staff are very knowledgeable about their menu. It's a food truck set up and there's mini standing tables for alfresco dining. SG was definitely lived up to the title #1 restaurant in the country on Yelp!

Not really an ambience since there's not much as far as a dining room. There are a couple of cocktail tables where you could eat. After ordering online at 20:20pm, my estimated pick up time was 8:39pm and got the order at 9:03pm. The cashier informed me their chicken is taking a while and added extra time to the wait. It probably would've been faster if they weren't so backed up. I ordered the Wagyu beef and chicken shawarma plate for me and my wife to share. I added 3 falafels and pita bread on top of it. The food was still fresh when I got home 15 mins later. Everything was good and just enough for us two. Also, I'm not sure why there's a range of where they may be located on Yelp since this is just a food truck that seems to be permanent at this location.

Captain's Log, Stardate 21509.7…read more This past Friday I set my course for Did Z Akins in La Mesa -- a roadside star on I‑8 that my crew and I had passed a thousand times but never boarded. At long last we beamed down, and the experience surpassed every expectation. From the moment we entered, the atmosphere felt like coming home to a welcoming starbase. The staff treated us with genuine warmth and patience as we navigated a menu full of storied classics. Their attentive service turned a simple meal into a memorable mission. My first officer aka wife enjoyed a superbly composed salad, and chose the Turkey Club -- both delivered with thoughtful care. I began with the biscuits and gravy, a traditional hit that tasted like comforting shore leave. But the true highlight was the patty melt: perfectly seared, with lush caramelized onions and melted cheese that achieved harmony at warp speed. It was, without hyperbole, the best patty melt I've encountered in this quadrant. Each bite was a cascade of flavor that felt like discovering a thriving new world. This kitchen knows how to respect ingredients and execute classics flawlessly. No extra condiments were necessary -- the craftsmanship spoke for itself. DZ Akins is now a plotted course for every future convoy through I‑8. Highly recommended for anyone seeking honest, stellar diner fare and service that treats you like family among the stars. Captain 619, stay salty my friends!
