    Garlic naan
    Tracey C.

Fast-casual Indian that actually delivers on flavor and freshness? Rasa is the Indian food Chipotle, but with quality food. I built a bowl with chicken tikka over basmati rice, stacked it with warm veggies, cool toppings, and a healthy pour of tamarind chili sauce. The chicken was tender and smoky with just the right amount of char, and every layer of the bowl brought something to the table--crunch, spice, tang, richness. The garlic naan deserves its own moment. Warm, soft, and seriously garlicky--it's the kind of side you end up eating first, even though you tell yourself you'll save it. Service was quick, the space was clean and funky, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Rasa will see me again when I'm back in the area.

I've always come to this location. Took a point because the seating is always pretty dirty. This time also tried it out their plates instead of bowls. There was not enough rice, but definitely double the amount of protein.

Nice to have a different concept for a bowl place. Bowl was good. Nice and flavourful. Employees weren't all that friendly - seemed as if it was a nuisance you being there.

The serving is generous and tasty. I ordered a spicy chicken bowl and it includes multiple sauces that make it ... saucy. Haha. Lots of proteins and veggies included. The garlic naan was disappointing with only a stripe of garlic butter down the center and kinda chewy rather than crisp or melty.

While the Paneer wrap was quite filling, the service put a sour taste in my mouth. The hearty Paneer wrap with a spicy kick was stuffed to the brim with rice, paneer, tomato sauce, chick peas, and chutney. The ingredients didn't blend that well together and don't resemble the photos. I wish the wrap could be customized with more mild sauces and lentils instead of rice. I'll have to ask ahead of time - next time! When I asked for substitutions on the spot, the grumpy female worker annoyingly said no. I understand the wrap can't be fully customized, I expect a better attitude from the staff member. I noticed a similar apathetic attitude at the Mount Vernon in D.C. and Mosaic District in VA. Service seems to be a pervasive problem at all of the locations. While I'm rooting for Rasa with good food and the founding brothers seem nice, I don't visit often due to the lack of customer service.

Came back again for Rasa at this location. It was the first place I've tried it and I'm happy to say they've kept their standards high. Food is absolutely delicious. Ingredients are fresh, and portion sizes are generous in my opinion. I ended up customizing my bowl as I had a $5 reward to redeem. Did a mixture of grains and super greens with chicken. I have to say though, it was the eggplant that I thoroughly enjoyed. Placed the order through the mobile app and was immediately greeted and handed my food on arrival. It's a decently sized restaurant. Not a lot of space because it's in crystal city but enough for a casual quick bite with friends, co-workers or alone.

Rasa has truly been my go-to fast bowl place since I've moved to National Landing 3 years ago. The service is always great, and the food is consistently amazing across their locations -- not something you can say about most franchises / chains. I love that they've expanded their menus since starting out -- burritos and alcoholic beverages are great happy hour options. I love getting their mango lassi / chai soft serve after a hot summer day, even as a stand alone dessert. As I write this review during a wintery month, I was suggested a hot chai latte since the server Alejandro heard my congestion in my voice. The hot chai was so healing. They also slightly dimmed the lights (love that for the evening hours) and played great indie / pop music. Alejandro even passed out samples of soft serve which was a sweet treat after such a busy Sunday! I'll always recommend Rasa for fast Indian food if you're in the National landing area. Consistently great food and fast service, you can't go wrong!

6 stars!!! Outstanding service by Goodman. He made my tikka wrap fresh and fast. We had great conversation as he was the first DC local I talked to after flying in! As someone who is picky about Indian food, I really like the recommendations Goodman gave me! Will definitely be back!!

Ambiance: (5/5) There is great indoor and outdoor seating. I loved the decor as well. Price: (3/5) I think it is a bit expensive. This is an Indian take on Chipotle, but I feel like I got less food for a higher price. Food: (4/5) For a fast food type of restaurant I did enjoy the chicken tikka bowl. They had a variety of sauces and toppings that you can use to customize, but keep in mind they don't put a lot of each topping. Service: (5/5) Very nice staff!

    Yum!

Alejandro the server is a súper star. The food here is amazing. I can't believe it's taken me this long to discover RASA Crystal City! The atmosphere is welcoming, warm, with great sitting spaces. Delicious food. Yum!

One of the things I love about DC is the ability to get any type of cuisine you're craving. Rasa is an Indian fast food place. I tried it a long time ago when they catered an work event but for some reason I never went to their restaurant. They now have several locations. This location was closest to where I was staying when I recently visited. There's a ton of construction going on and it took forever to find a garage to park in. Terrible! Ordered the Eat Your Veggies entree and it was yummy! The portion size was enough for lunch and dinner. Price was good. If you're ever in the DC area and want to try Indian food in a fast casual spot, this is worth a try!

Rice with spinach gravy and some toppings!
    Harp S.

Food for veg is extremely bad. Perhaps veg people should avoid this place unless you want to eat some rice, a spoon of gravy, a spoon of spinach/ side, few toppings ... lassi is 5 USD for a average size cup. Taste was below normal. Do not go here if you think this is a modified Indian restaurant or Indian cuisine. It is more like boiled everything on top of rice ... no salt or any sort of spices. May be it is targeted for people who are on bland diet. Service is OK. Ambiance is above average for this locality. Disappointed with veg choices and taste.

Each veggie was cooked al dente and just right. It's not overcooked or too raw. I appreciate all the recommendations that our server suggested. I find that restaurants don't always cook vegetables well and make it an afterthought, but not at Pink Saffron! It was another main character dish with great detail including a topping of lotus puffs, which I havent tried before. It's a light taste with a nice chew to it - supposedly very healthy, too. There is a flight of steps to climb before entering the to-go area so persons need ADA accommodations may find it difficult to access. The parking was also not ideal for customers in the tiny lot space allocated in front of the restaurant. The bar area was very clean and felt modern offering a decent street view down Eads. I did not view the downstairs main dining area unfortunately. The service was swift and efficient. The bartender/server was able to receive my order and deliver it to the chef for preparation. As suggested the food was ready in ten minutes. I ordered the butter chicken and lamb tikka marsala with a side of roti and a side of garlic naan. On the receipt the butter chicken was labeled as tikka but it was butter chicken. The roti was not bad though I preferred the naan more. The garlic naan lived up to its name and was packed with minced garlic mainly toward the center or the bread. It was quite tasty and paired really well with the lamb tikka marsala. The butter chicken was good offering tender marinated chicken breast covered in the smooth and creamy sauce. The lamb was similarly prepared offering a deeper robust flavor and higher spice level. Granted I wasn't asked spice level for either dish. Considering both dishes were ticketed as a tikka I inferred the difference between butter chicken and chicken tikka could be the added spice. Either way both dishes were very good and well portioned giving the clear advantage to the lamb. No photos of the food since it was packaged to-go and not highlighting their creativity with the plating. Overall 3.8 out of 5

Standouts were the palak chaat and mint paratha. The palak chaat was the most well-balanced dish that satisfied every part of the flavor wheel: crispy spinach fritters, some tang from the yogurt and tamarind, sweetness from the date, and a lovely savoriness. The mint paratha was wonderfully flaky and herbaceous. The other dishes were good, but not particularly exciting. For desserts, we had the mango rasmalai and gulab jamun. This is walking distance from the Walter E Washington Convention Center and about a block from the Marriott Marquis. A nice change from the burgers and steakhouse for corporate dinners. Highly recommend.

With an impressively high Yelp rating, I was disappointed to hear the new owners say the glowing reviews are from the previous owner (though I respect the honesty). Despite that, we really enjoyed our visit. The new owners live up to the legacy. First of all, the service is excellent. An older man makes the food and who I assume is his daughter takes the orders. Both are kind. At the end, she gave my daughter a granola bar for free. The menu is a mix of Korean food and the small market in the back sells Korean products and more. It's very fun to browse and pick up some snacks and treats. My daughter loved the juicy grape fruit snacks. To eat, we ordered the Japanese curry and milk tea. Both were full of flavor and made with love. "This is my new favorite meal of all time," said my daughter. She devoured the bowl herself! There's a small parking lot in front of the cafe. It's within walking distance from the Crystal City Metro.

Who knew that there would be a cafe in Pentagon City with this option? The interior is a bit cramped with many cardboard boxes piling up. We were able to order the food at the counter and waited about 5-10 minutes before the food was ready. BRAISED PORK OVER RICE (卤肉饭) - 15.49 Lots of rice, more rice than I could finish with the amount of braised pork belly they give. The pork was very fatty, which made it tasty and juicy, but it wasn't very saucy. There were two halves of a bokchoy and half of an incredibly boiled egg, which was meh. Still, I finished all the toppings and maybe a little less than half of the rice. I was full, but $15.49 for the food was not worth it. Overall, 3.5/5 but bump it to a 4/5 since there's a scarcity of food like this in the area. They sell other comfort Asian dishes too, like coconut chicken cutlet rice and Japanese eel rice.
