I've walked by Sweetgreen a few times at the Pentagon City location a few times and decided to pop in for a healthy lunch. Healthy doesn't have to mean boring and these bowls and salads are amazing bursts of flavor. The service line is set up kind of like chipotle, where you can pick your proteins and ingredients, but there's also a full menu of seasonal bowls, plates, and salads. This particular SweetGreen is close to my work. I was low on food and didn't have lunch and was hangry! I wanted a salad so, here I am. I couldn't really decide what I wanted. I've only been to sweetgreen a few times and don't do well with too many options. So, I opted for the Guacamole Greens salad with additional salmon. Again, I was hungry. My server appeared new as she kept reading something to remind her what goes in my salad. I've gotta say that....... this whole tipping thing is getting out of hand. I was trying to pay and couldn't figure out how to work the payment device. I was trying to figure it out and asked for help when the server told me what was going on. It was asking for a tip. Huh? I ordered a salad to go. I'm confused. When she asked if I wanted to leave a tip and my response was no I feel she kinda 'turned off'. Like, she was done with me. Awkward! I really like the food, but the service is okay. I gave 3 stars because it's VERY pricey. It's not a casual food spot that I can frequently eat at. You can create your own bowl or pick one of there pre-designed signature or speciality options. The pre-designed bowls are cheaper than the build your own. I feel like the build your own is dangerous because you can get carried away. You have to pay extra for protein in your build your own. They have clean organic Whole Foods. read more

Stopped by for a quick lunch yesterday and I was pretty disappointed with the Kale Caesar I got. Too much lime flavor, not enough Caesar dressing. Overall, portion sizes were small and I barely got a scoop of chicken. And then it was $13.70 after tax. I was still hungry after my salad. Definitely not worth it. Salads are pretty good. Only thing I can't justify is when doing a "create your own" you pay $10, and there's no "base" you pay for every ingredient on that plate and it is $3-$4. So it ends up being a $20-$25 salad. Can't justify paying that much for a salad. Especially when you can get their premade salads for $13-$15 and switch out some ingredients if you don't like it. Won't be "creating my own" going forward. But hey, call me cheap if you want. read more

They either do not do quality checks here or they simply do not care (because these are pretty obvious). I can tolerate them giving small portions (although not ideal since these salads are not exactly cheap) but it's pretty inexcusable to serve bad quality ingredients for people to consume. Can't really say much about this place but to tell you the truth, they might have gone out of business right in front of my eyes. Now hear me out... I just got into town and needed a late dinner near my hotel. There aren't a ton of options during a late night Covid-era Saturday and this place originally said it was open until 9pm online. So with that said, my coworker and I decided to take the half mile walk from out hotel to grab some food. However, by the time we get there we see this sign in the door. Now when I first looked I thought to myself "oh shoot, the hours changed for Covid and they are closed earlier than 9." That would have been understandable. However...my photo of the hours attached to this review was taken at 7:14pm and the sign says they close at 8pm. 45 minutes I thought was ample time to order a to go bowl of food that is similar to the ordering at a Chipotle. When I tired the open the door though, it was locked shut. I saw 2 or 3 employees inside, and they could see me standing outside the door looking a bit confused but didn't offer any help or explanation. So with that said, the place is either shut for good and today was sadly their last day of business and they decided to throw in the towel early, or their employees just really don't care about business. Either way....there was a Shake Shock a block or two down. Go there instead. At least their hours listed are the real deal. read more

What an amazing planted based eatery! Ordered via Uber Eats. Today I got the New Firecracker "chicken" Bowl and Trolley Fries. The portions are huge. I had leftovers for a second meal. I got the Firecracker Bowl with the 1/2 Signature rice 1/2 Salad Mix. The dish was absolutely wholesome and delicious. The flavors and textures paired well together. It tasted like a chipotle and poke bowl came together and created something even better. Also ordered the Trolley Fries. Wow what an improvement to the standard French fry. This luscious box of potatoes was decked out with sauces that gave it an Asian flare. Not too overpowering but makes for a huge rounded out meal. So the food was great but the staff is not very friendly. If a customer asks for help, you should be very willing to help them. I asked an employee where the silverware is and all she did was point, didn't say word, yeah thats rude. And then asking for a knife (because there were none out) was like the end of the world. Okay first of all you should put those things (knife fork and spoon) in our to-go bag to begin with. If we ask for something you should cheerfully, in a friendly manner give it to us. I'm more of a fan of sweet tea, and it tasted not as sweet/more healthy. However, I did like the bowl and would order it again. People working were helpful. When I left, the employee cleaning told me to have a nice night which was kind. I definitely want to come back here again after some more yoga workouts. Good, though slightly pricey lunch. I got the Shroomami with quinoa and chicken instead of brown rice and tofu. I'm definitely a fan of that warm bowl. I've also been told the roasted pepper and feta is good and that the guacamole greens is even better. Line was pretty bad around 1pm but it's probably still better than ordering through the app since they'll mix in the dressing for you and you can ask for "a little more" of something. The bare minimum for a sweetgreen location should be fresh ingredients, which this location did provide. However, we ordered normal dressing and both salads were saturated. If you order on the app, they dont include utensils in your to-go order which every other restaurant does. Given the choice, I would order from another location if possible. read more

I ordered the Harvest Bowl and since I'm vegan-ish, I asked for falafel rather than chicken. The falafel was so sad, y'all. It looked like dry, brown lumps of poo. I politely declined that option and asked to see what was available in the other food warmers. Two types of chicken and steelhead were my options. I made the wrong choice, but lemme tell you about the options first. 1. Grilled chicken that looked semi-moist and unseasoned. 2. Blackened chicken that looked seasoned and greasy. 3. Steelhead, which looked like salmon and I later learned is a type of trout. I chose option #2. Note: I only eat chicken from two places- Busboys & Poets and Farmbird, so this was completely outta my norm. The chicken tasted similar to what is given out as samples in a mall food court. I get this is fast casual and not a fancy dining experience, but I feel like they can do better than greasy chewy/stringy chicken. I ate about 3 bites of it before piling up the chicken in lil corner of my bowl and tossing it in the trash. Overall the experience was underwhelming. Employees were sufficiently helpful for a newbie to the restaurant, but could have done better. Chopt is my forever fave. read more

I love a good salad from sweetgreens when it's consistent. I visit quite often since I'm within walking distance from this location. I've had my fare share of ordering for pickup and ordering in person and I've I've noticed there's a lot of inconsistencies with this location. At times my bowl will be filled to the brim with greens and ingredients. Then at other times, it's like they just put in one handful of greens and half a scoop of ingredients. That was my most recent experience. I placed my usual order for pick up (Kale Caesar Salad). Obviously I'm not going to open it and look at it. I'm going to grab it and take it home with me. I heard that staff is okay during lunch hours on weekdays but, since I live in the area, I've tried going on weekends and later in the evening and every single time I see 4 employees there, slowly cutting vegetables or just walking by the counter and not acknowledging that there is a customer waiting. Today, at least one employee lazily acknowledged my presence and jokingly said that another employee would help me by pointing at another employee who pointed at another. I left. Great and yummy place for salads and warm bowls with a rice base! I had the Hummus Tahina salad and it is fabulous just as prepared! it has falafel in it! I love a salad with less lettuce and more other ingredients and this one's base is lots of kale! The bread they give with it is yummy, too!
