I've always wanted to drop by the famous Randy's Donuts landmark building in Inglewood, but never did for some reason. I'm glad they expanded to multiple locations in LA, so I've been dropping by the Downey location since it is more convenient for me. I like supporting mom and pop donut shops, so the price point for Randy's is a little more expensive. However, when you think about the size of the donuts, the price is actually very fair. They have some of the best glaze raised donuts- just make sure you don't get the Texas sized one because it is less fluffy, and more doughy. So make sure you go there and get ANY TYPE OF RAISED DONUTS- they're all good and stay FRESHER than other donuts. Usually by mid afternoon, most donuts I get from other shops start to taste a little oily and old. Randy's Donuts are not oily and they stay fresh until the evening. You can even store them in the refrigerator and eat them the next day! Which is something I would never do with donuts with the exception of Randy's. Some of my favorites are the glazed raised, cinnamon crumb cake (delicious!), glazed twist, glazed crondy (tastes like a cronut), cinnamon roll (delicious and huge!), and apple fritter. Stay away from the cake donuts- they are average. I've had the matcha tea raised, red velvet cake with icing, and blueberry cake and they were okay. I wasn't a big fan. The crullers were not very good here so I don't recommend them. I will definitely be back on a regular basis to get donuts from here. Happy eating and stay safe! read more

You really get your money's worth here! Randy's offers regular donuts and fancy donuts, and they are way cheaper than the kinda-posh places. They do not taste cheap nor do they leave a strange film in your mouth. Very good with social distancing in our "new normal" these days. Friendly employees. I will say that I feel like the donuts here are way sweeter than I like, but that just means I half, and don't add sweetener to my coffee. Balance! Thanks, Randy's. I was up in Downey for work and drove by the giant donut sign at Randy's and had to stop in. I didn't even know that they had more locations than the iconic one in LA so I was happily surprised and excited. The reviews weren't great but i was undeterred..it turns out I was right. The place was super clean and bright. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly as I probably asked at least one question about every donut they had in the place! When I got them home to the family everyone loved them. In fact, about half of them were devoured for dessert that night. While all were loved, I believe the consensus favorites were the blueberry cake with blueberry icing and the matcha tea donuts. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

I work in Torrance. So almost all my employees rave about and go koo koo any time anyone brings in Randy's donuts Inglewood. I have had donuts from the Inglewood location. They are good. Their apple fritters seem to be pretty good always. I finally stopped by Randy's Downey to bring in a couple dozens into the office. Let me start by saying that's about 40 for two mixed fancy dozens and an apple fritter. Ummmmmm that is nothing to rave about. I mean unless you just absolutely love over paying for something. Otherwise when I go to San Pedro I stop by Star Donuts on Gaffey and I pick up two dozens of donuts there. And it's usually $16 for the two dozens. Of which they not only mix in fancies. But the Friendly Asian lady always tells me, "I put extra for you". Makes me feel special. Even if she may do that for every customer. I end up with 2 boxes with 14 donuts each and I don't have to pay extra for cinnamon rolls or my apple fritter. Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.... who wants to do some math?? Anyways. Customer service for me at Randy's was good. No line. Just one dude in front of me. Next girl took me right away. Was pleasant and friendly. Asked if I wanted to pick donuts. I said surprise me. So she packed the two boxes. As she did that the next girl rang me up. They both did a good job tag teaming me. And I got some buttermilk bites as it was national donut day. Thank you. My staff loved that they finally got to try Randy's Downey. Some claimed they were better than Inglewood. My apple fritter was good. Awesome? Eh. The best ever? Eh. It was just good. Will I return? If the rest of my family wants to try for themselves. Maybe. If we just feel like donuts. And Feel like driving past several other choices right around the corner. And if there is no line. Three's a crowd for me, not worth the wait TBH. So, just like Porto's. I usually will end up going not because I love standing in line waiting. But usually just cause someone else who believes all the hype really wants something from there... LAST. Someone please tell Randy to get rid of those flimsy boxes. Although the girl did say "grab it from the bottom". (That's what she said). The box on the bottom almost caved in and I had to use my knee to hold them up and pin them against my car. Otherwise there would have been two dozen donuts on the asphalt and who knows if they would have replaced them since I was already in the parking lot. What do I think overall? They're just donuts. Randy's has four different donut types: classic ($1.35 each), deluxe ($1.60), fancy ($1.85), and premium ($2.95). They also have donut rounds - get 'em glazed, iced, and/or topped. Don't know much about the cake, but sounds intriguing. The breakfast sandwiches are A-okay at $3.95 each and "made to order." The bacon on the hubby's was a little undercooked. Total turnoff for him. My vanilla frappe on 4/26/20 was good and icy. At least for the quarantine, I suggest ordering what you can online. I say what you can because the breakfast sandwiches can't be ordered online. Wear your mask to the drive-thru. The line might be long, but the friendly crew does their best to "move 'em on, head 'em up" (Rawhide - that's for you, Dad). This our first time at this Randy donut in Downey it's nice but not the original but they have assorted donuts from classic,deluxe,fancy and premium donuts. So I was in Downey and saw this Donut shop as I was driving by! This is the famous donut shop they used in the Iron Man movie so I had to stop by even though I think the exact one was in LA! Walk in and stop for a minute, take in the smell of the fresh donuts and the smell of the sugar you are about to take in. I am surprised they don't sell their glaze in a syringes so you can just shoot it in your mouth. Just, eh. First time having it but probably wouldn't come back on my own. It was underwhelming and I LOVE donuts. Pecan Maple was meh. Chocolate was also meh. Donut was fluffy but a little overly sweet with the glaze and the dough a little overly oily in my opinion. The staff wasn't overly pleasant either I might add. I ordered a mix box to bring into work. I allowed them to pick as I was in a rush to get to work on time. I would think they would give a variety of options but it was 75% chocolate glazed and the rest were standard flavors (maple, sugar, glazed). They could've thrown in a blueberry or some other unique flavors to try to mix it up. I will say the donuts are large in size. Not a fan of donuts, but I have to admit when it comes to taste factor, Randy's are tops. I stop here once a week to treat my crew. Unfortunately, a donut is only as good as the service behind it. Randy's donut is no longer my favorite due to incompitant customer service provided by manager. Not aware of "policy" (bad one at that) my total is just under 20.00 and all I have is 50s and 100s. The red carpet immediately ended and the donut box disappeared....right before my eyes. I politely asked the manager if I could leave my 50 bill, drivers license, allow her to take a picture of me and ultimately return after work (1pm) with exact change and retrieve my personal items and cash. She gladly denied me any abilty to find an alternative solution. Eventually I spoke to the district manager and he comped the order. The manager grudgingly gave me the order and as I attempted to finalize my conversation with her, mid sentence, she shut the order window on me. This donut place was worth the hype. I was a bit skeptical given the lower Yelp ratings and the fact that it's open 24/7 and a drive thru. However, these were some of the best classic donuts I tried during my donut tour of LA. + Chocolate glazed donut - thick chocolatey frosting, so thick that it shattered and fell off in thick pieces once I dug in. Super freshly fried on the outside, pillowy donut goodness on the inside. The chocolate flavor was nostalgic and classic - that balance between dark, artificial, and almost too-sweet chocolate taste that was just the perfect balance. + Maple glazed donut - maple icing similar to the chocolate glaze in texture. Just the right amount of sweet and maple, with icing so solid and thick it could fall off in chunks. The maple flavor was satisfying and vibrant. + Lemon old fashioned - freshly fried and crispy on outside, soft on inside. One of my all-time favorite versions of the old fashioned donut. Try some of their off the norm flavors paired up with the classics. Line gets long, so if it's coming out the driveway it might take you 15-20 mins to be out of there. So worth the wait tho. Since there are no Randy's Donuts locations in Orange County, we make it a point to pull up here whenever we are craving such delights. Parking can be found easily in their small lot, depending when you come through, but there is also street parking. Drive-thru here is a plus too. What do we like? The Nutella Raised, White Ganache Raised w/ Chocolate, Red Velvet Cake w/Ganache, and the Mint Raised. So fresh and delicious, pretty much every time we have ordered any of these from the Premium category. Then our second choices would be Blueberry Cake, Glazed Twist, Maple Long John and Cherry Iced Cake, from both the Classic and Deluxe categories. Is it worth a dozen? For us sometimes, but you really have to be craving that many or have folks to share with. One thing I can say, is to me, these donuts have a 2-3 day shelf life after the initial buy (just pop them in the micro for some seconds), so that is key when buying a dozen for just 2 people.
