My husband and I are frequent diners at this restaurant. Their drinks are huge, the food is fresh and the staff is very accommodating. The Guacamole al Molcajete is prepared to order, tableside, which is very refreshing. They start you off with chips and fresh salsa and I have to say our fav meals are the fajitas. My husband get the steak and I ALWAYS get the seafood ones. Only rating the happy hour and wings. Have not tried the food. Came for a drink after a long day at work. Was greeted by the bartender right away. We had 2 margaritas and was told it was currently happy hour and they use cazadores for the happy hour which to me was pretty top shelf. The bartender was extremely friendly as was the staff around us. We ordered another round of drinks that was then followed by 2 small plates of 3pcs of wings each. This place has changed a lot. I ordered a burrito they used to wrap it all up together, rice, beans, meat, salad. When I got this burrito not only was the meat (shredded chicken) salty that was all that was in the burrito then on the plate there was bland yellow rice and 1/2 a cup of refried beans. No guac, no sour cream. We had to constantly ask for water, chips, salsa. We had a party of 6 we were given one small dish of salsa and a basket of chips. Came to this location for a low-key birthday get together with some girlfriends. Last year we came here and had a blast!!!. We stayed at the bar and ordered individual meals spending a tab of over $300. Upon leaving the bartender who was not very nice throughout the evening told us we could not even get a glass of water and we had to purchase bottles of water. What is that?? There was no issue prior to that as I said we paid over $300 with over $40 gratuity included in the bill- Again, no issue with the bill. Last year we definitely had a blast, because as we drank, we were provided water upon request. So this year neither us can get a glass of water as a courtesy as we are leaving? My family and I tried this restaurant for the first time today and had a very enjoyable experience. The venue is very nicely decorated to mimic a traditional Mexican setting. The venue was also nice and clean. It appears a live DJ is present during the evenings as staff was setting up DJ equipment.There is traditional Mexican music playing in the background. The service was great and the staff very professional, polite and on point. Upon arrival, you are given a complimentary basket of home made hot tortilla chips and fresh salsa. We were impressed as the chips were not heavily salted or oily and tasted crispy and delicious. Our lunch arrived to the table shortly after ordering and it was presented beautifully on the plate. We ordered the beef and fish tacos which were seasoned nicely and served with sides of rice and beans and a salad. The restaurant also offers a dessert menu w/ various choices. We tried the fresh fruit crepe which was delicious and a great ending to a good meal. There are various Mexican beers to choose from and a margarita and martini menu. First off, I would not even give this place one star. Today is May 6th and I am still waiting for my reservation for two people for Cinco de Mayo dinner. Now I understand cinco de mayo is a busy day, but I was willing to wait the 1 hour that the waitress told me I had to wait. I stood on line to put my name on their list. When I made it to the front of the line, the woman taking down names started mingling with other waiters instead of taking down my name. I was standing in front of her for a good 8 mins and all she never acknowledged me. Finally she took my name and phone number and said the wait would be one hour. This was at 7pm. Brought the family here for a birthday night. The waiter was very attentive and paid attention to every member of the family with equal respect, including my 9 year old. I had a salad with steak that was very good, but a bit short on actual greens, kind of odd for a salad. Everyone's food was very good, although I have to say the rice tasted as if sugar of some kind was added, and I didn't care for the refried beans. We started with Guacamole which was made at our table, and I should have gone for the larger, 2 avocado size, as it was delicious! Birthday girl didn't want it mentioned, but hey, I though they might give a free dessert, and they did! A very delicious Tres Leches slice with strawberries, an OMG moment! So Tip: Mention the birthday, you'll be glad you did. Waiters will come to embarrass you, ha ha ha, a good time. Bathroom was beautiful and surprise, on the walk back to the table there is a hand sanitizer mounted to the wall in the restroom foyer. They get an extra star for that, and really everyone should agree. I have had many bad experiences in restaurants with the Central Avenue address, as their rent is very high and they typically rush you out so they can turn the table over. That was not so here. I've lived in the area for over 15 years and used to come here with my father when i was a teenager, so i decided to come with my husband and kids when my husband said he wanted some Mexican food. I was excited because i remember the homemade guacamole being so tasty. Yeah.. not so tasty anymore. The guacamole didn't taste like much of anything... we added salt to maybe give it some type of flavor... still tasted horrible. My children had the beef burritos and beef tacos from the kids menu, and it was disgusting. They only ate the rice and beans, and i don't blame either of them. The beef tasted like it had no seasoning, and like it was old. My next complaint is about how they lie about the cost of food. The waiter asked me if i wanted to add shrimp to my steak and chicken fajitas, and that it would only be a 2$ upcharge.. well my husband who only got steak and chicken was charged $29 and mine came out to $34.... I'm not good at math but that's not $2.. plus they only give TWO shrimp.. literally.. Last but not least, the service was horrible.. we asked for to go boxes , we literally waited 26 mins, and that was even after reminding the waiter twice. And when i asked for some guacamole to go since i was taking my left overs (hoping they magically taste better the next day) they wanted to charge me for a side of sour cream... i didn't even want that much.. To sum everything up, the food is disgusting, way over priced, and the service is horrible.. needless to say, i will not be returning. We were expecting the most amazing experience because the restaurant seemed authentic and intriguing as we got there. We were looking at the lunch menu the whole time, knew what we wanted and FINALLY 10mins later I had to stop someone to take our order because everyone just kept walking past us. Little did we know, we were looking at the wrong menu the whole time, it was 3pm and they had us order from the dinner menu. So we had to tell her we needed more time because we were looking at the wrong menu and no one told us. Again, we had to hunt someone down to take our order. My friend ordered tacos , I ordered steak con rajas. 45mins later our food comes and the food is semi cold .. my daughters fries felt like they were just sitting there waiting to get picked up. It was terrible. I ate my food because it was $30! The steak was not appetizing, my tortillas were burned. I definitely do not recommend this place. When our food came out the wings were inedible. They were so soggy the skin was hanging off. They were barley cooked. The tostones were hard and dry and clearly pre packaged and frozen. We tried the wings and could not eat them. We never received our drinks and the waitress didn't come back at all. When she did come back to bring the check she asked if we wanted to go boxes we said no and said the wings were not good she asked you want to take them? We said no again. She began clearing the plates. My cousin handed her a plate to help her. She gave my cousin a dirty look turned her back and left! Leaving my cousin holding the plates. We were so shocked we didn't understand this terrible treatment. This was all occurring in front of my 8 year old niece. We didn't complain. We didn't say anything to her. We decided to pay the bill and leave and never go back. We decided not to tip her because why would we tip someone so rude. I want to say I am a very generous tipper and this is the first time I've felt convicted not to. The service was that bad. We paid the bill and left. As we are approaching our car the waitress comes running out to confront us for not tipping her!!! We were floored. Honestly I was concerned because her demeanor was very aggressive. She was demanding to know why we did not tip her. At this point we decided we needed to speak to the manager. We went inside and after waiting 15 minutes Jose the manager arrived. He apologized and said he would speak to her. He couldn't believe she ran out of the restaurant to confront a customer. He asked us to please come back that he would wait on us personally. The music was great, not loud but enjoyable while eating. Let's get to the food the best part, I had the shredded chicken enchiladas with my sauce on the side, with rice and beans! Delicious and filling. My husband had the steak fajitas which arrived to the table sizzling. He also had their happy hour sangria, so delicious. From the time we walked in to being seated our experience and expectations were met. The pricing was very good as well. We came here on a Friday night for dinner and to enjoy the music+dancing. The biggest selling point is the ambiance- live mariachi, then a singer, followed by a DJ. Our servers (switched a couple times) were all attentive and made sure we had what we needed. Huge portions, so two people could even split an appetizer and entree. Our table was split on the food- the chicken flautas and chile relleno were excellent, but the fish tacos were lacking (suggestion to management: consider using fried fish for the tacos, not boiled because the caldo from the fish soaks through both tortillas on every taco and makes it difficult to eat). Scrutinize Your Bill!! I like the food, the place is clean, and I've always found the staff to be nice. But what happened there last night really annoyed me! There were only four of us. I got the bill, and I only glanced at it. I was about to add in the tip. Then my wife looked over my shoulder and alerted me that 20% had already been added in, automatically. It seemed strange to me at that point that a tip would be automatically added for a party of four. Then I looked at the menu, and saw that tips are automatically added for parties of five or more. But we were only four. And then I looked at the top of my bill, and saw that it said, "party of five" on it. Even though we were only four people! And then I realized that our waitress had intentionally put down the wrong number of people in our party, just so that the tip would automatically be added, And she almost got exactly what we she had hoped for, and we almost added another tip on top of that. When she came to take the check I told her that I thought it was wrong and dishonest, and she tried to say that it was a new system or something, and they were just trying to get used to it, and it was a mistake. It wasn't, "a mistake" though. It was intentional. And wrong. And looking at past reviews, I see that we are not the only people that this had happened to, where a tip has Automatically and improperly been added to the bill of a small party. So I'm not saying don't go there. But just check everything on your bill. read more

Went here for dinner as I was craving some good Mexican food. I live around the area and stumbled upon this place when I realized Casa Maya was closed on central. The ambiance is really nice and the restaurant itself is great. There's a live band and karaoke which sets the mood. The drinks are great but I was very disappointed with the food. My table got shrimp fajitas, fish tacos, steak, and chorizo and unfortunately it was all lacking that Mexican flavor we were looking for. The food was bland and unfortunately very disappointing. My wife who is a proud Mexican/American is always looking to try new Mexican restaurants. She is forever in search of , as she says " authentic Mexican taste". We attended Rancho Grande on a crowded Saturday night and the service was great. The staff was prepared for the large crowd and while we waited to be seated we waited at the bar. The food was better than your average Westchester Mexican establishment. The menu had all of your basic dishes and I was happy with the quality and taste. The nachos appetizer was amazing, came out fast, hot and covered with cheese. The highlight of the night was the music. They had a solo act signing classic Mexican songs which made my wife extremely happy. So much so that we stayed after our meal to listen to the music and have drinks. This total included gratituity. When the check came they split the check between two cards and then left the line for a tip. We shared an order of tacos which were great until I noticed a hair in my food. Sad because I was really digging the food. The service was pretty terrible considering the restaurant wasn't busy at all and we were the only people at the bar except for 2 others.
