I got lunch to go from el Poblano, I ordered tacos Al Pastor, the tacos where very tasty, the pork meat was well seasoned and tender, the pineapple was not overpowering, and everything was well balanced, to my surprise the red sauce had a hint of chipotle pepper which is my favorite, the also included a serving of delicious salsa with homemade tortillas chips, the server was very polite and friendly, some of the negative review mention that when you walk in there is no waiting room and it feels awkward to stand next to people dining, I say, go to the bar, sit down order a drink and relax while you waiting for the food. My bf and I come here on Friday nights after a long week to delight in our favorite Mexican dishes! We love the fast service and the wait staff is so friendly here! The food here is pretty authentic and VERY flavorful! My favorite dishes include the carnitas tacos and the tacos dorados. The drinks are delightful too, and I love that you can order many of their drinks non-alcoholic (as I don't drink!). My favorite drinks I've tried include the mojitos (especially strawberry, passion fruit, and the regular mojito) and also the horchata! This is my go-to spot for Mexican food in White Plains! read more

Arrived, nice ambiance. Menu was on an iPad the gave us to look at. (Suggestion- clean the screens in between customers). For an appetizer we ordered chips with guacamole and salsa and they were delicious! For dinner we asked for 2 things we thought you can get at any Mexican restaurant (queso fundido & burrito bowl, both not on the menu) but they didn't have either and server showed us that we could just order a burrito dinner. Instead we opted for chicken tacos. The chicken was a bit dry, had cilantro and onions on top. Margaritas were $16 we found out once the bill arrived, so that was a shocker for the small size (rocks glass size) we were served. We had to call a server to the table for margarita refill because they didn't check back in once food was served to see if everything was alright. Service was sub par. First, I loved the parking. There's plenty of it to be found. The inside of this place is cute, it's not upscale or overdone. The night we went, the movie Selena was playing in one TV, while an amusing Spanish musical program was playing on the other TV. It had great music for the mood in the restaurant. Second, when you walk in it's kind of awkward. There's not really a place to stand. This place is rather small for the 12 or so tables that are here, so when you walk in, you're standing right next to people eating. They didn't immediately try to seat us, though several of the wait staff saw us walk in and kept walking. One of them finally turned around and gestured for us to sit wherever. We sit down and she takes our drink order. We both order water. I get a margarita and he gets a Modelo beer. The water that they brought out is Sam's Club Members Mark store brand bottled water, which I thought was strange. I was just expecting a glass of ice water. The chips and salsa came after we had received our drinks, after we had ordered our food. The chips were banging... Warm and freshly made. The salsa was pretty good, but I was surprised at the small amount of both. Third, the food... I ordered chicken mole enchiladas. My husband ordered beef fajitas. My enchiladas came out looking beautiful, but not what I was expecting. It was a LARGE, flat-ish, white pasta bowl that resembled something more like mole soup with lettuce and sour cream and stuff on top. There were, in fact, 4 chicken enchiladas in there, but they were drown in a vast amount of mole that was WAY too sweet. In addition to like 30+ other ingredients, Mole contains Mexican chocolate, but it's not suppose to be that sweet. Mexican chocolate is pretty bitter. Raisins on the other hand, are also an ingredient in mole and this sauce felt more like a sweet raisin sauce. The balance was WAY off. I did not enjoy it. My husband said the fajitas, which are pretty hard to mess up, were bland and didn't have that nice sizzling char you expect with fajitas. While the portions are generous, the flavors are not. The two or 3 women who waited on us were friendly, even if a little inattentive. This was a Saturday night and the place was packed the whole time we were there, but if what we ordered was any indication of anything else on the menu, I'm pretty surprised it was this busy. Are there no other halfway decent Mexican food places here? Lastly, the bill was HUGE. Enchiladas, fajitas, 2 beers and a margarita was almost $90! They charged for the waters! Thank God I didn't get a second margarita or they would have charged and additional 18% gratuity for the bill being over $100. I know I'm new to this area, and things are more expensive here, but I've been to some blow your mind phenomenal, really nice Mexican restaurants back in Texas and NEVER have I been charged anywhere CLOSE to $100 for 2 people getting basic Mexican meals. read more

Tried this adorable restaurant for first time. You feel like you're in Mexico. decor very authentic. Food was very good. I'm not sure when it started but it was after the other location shut down that this place has gone down in all ways. Maybe it's because of the staff that came back or the idea that it can recover some of the losses from the other place by raising prices. I have been a supporter of this place since it opened but I will not return if it continues with these changes. Other places to try instead are El Mariachi Loco, La Catrina, Bello, Veracruz. All good places with similar food, better prices, and definitely better staff than the ones at this place that came back from the store they location. And I stress the increase in price of all items... looks like they brought the menus from the other location and are trying to rip off people... not sure why he thinks that trying it here will work when it broke the other location. We came during happy hour and unfortunately we're not charged happy hour prices upon receiving our bill despite ordering happy hour drink specials. When we brought this to our waitress attention she attempted to rectify the issue which we appreciated until we then realized the bill also had an 18% service charge tacked on. Felt like we walked into a scam between the false happy hour and service fees. I understand if a restaurant needs additional revenue to stay afloat but in that case just raise your prices, so diners know what to expect when visiting your establishment. As a patron when you traditionally leave 20% tips and businesses decide to tack on an additional 18-20% service fee it forces the patron to ask themselves if the food and experience is ultimately worth an additional 40% charge on top of their order We paid our bill, service fee, and tip as the waiter deserved one, and went on our way. The last time I dined at nearby City Limits Diner I noticed this place and took a mental note to try it. I needed to pick something up at Michael's last night so I decided to try here for dinner beforehand. From the outside, El Poblano doesn't look like it was originally intended to be a restaurant. It's on the first floor of a building, parking is limited to a few marked spaces in the building's lot, and the outdoor seating area is on a narrow rectangular porch area. It works, it just doesn't look like the space was fully converted into a restaurant. The inside is relatively small, but they make good use of the space. A few tables, a bar in the back, and a semi-open kitchen. We were started with the obligatory chips and salsa. These chips were super crispy, but I liked them - they weren't warm but kind of felt like they were house made (maybe??). The salsa was good too - finely chopped, not chunky at all. There's pretty good variety on the menu - your typical Mexican restaurant selection. Additionally, they serve breakfast and have a selection of tortas and seminas. I decided to go with the enchiladas rancheras; you have a choice of chicken or beef, and it's served with salsa, sour cream, lettuce, avocado, radish, onions, and grated cheese. The enchiladas were okay - the tortillas they're served in are corn, so the integrity of them can weaken after a while. The flavor was okay, but I will say it was kind of spicy. I wasn't a fan of the rice and beans the dish was served with, I've had better. Service was fast and friendly - they use iPads to take orders which helps with efficiency. They also don't have a soda fountain, so beverages are served in bottles (though they give you a cup with ice and will pour it out for you). There's nothing really wrong with El Poblano, but I wouldn't come up to White Plains just to eat here again - good if you're in the area, but not a destination restaurant. read more

Went here on a whim for lunch on a Saturday, and my friend and I were both blown away by how awesome the food was. They start you off with *warm* tortilla chips and fresh salsa, and the food came pretty quickly after we ordered. We got nachos and a generous portion of 4 enchiladas along with drinks and 2 fantastic desserts. (tres leches cake was perfect!) Bill came to $50 and was well worth every penny. Average Mexican food, but by no means the best. Chicken chimichanga was pretty good, chicken in it was tasty. Honestly the best part of the meal was the chips. I'm not sure if they're homemade but they were really delicious and crispy. The salsa was also good and the sauce that came with our meal was also really good. It was spicy and had a nice smoky flavor to it. I'm not sure if this is the only Mexican place in the area, but they were SUPER busy. The restaurant itself was fully packed. We were lucky to get a table outside. It was better out there anyway, a lot quieter. Service was also pretty good. This used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area since 2016. However, it's gone downhill in quality and service. Sadly will not be returning anytime soon. Today's food was lacking in quality. The avocado on quesadilla was partly spoiled. The carne asada looked so depressing and lonely in the huge plate. So this is the story: I go tonight to this location, because I wanted a cute date night with the boo. So we drive almost 20 mins across town to this place. We get there at around 7:15 pm. I go inside. First red flag: there's no one there to sit you down, so you literally just stand there awkwardly until someone approaches you. Not unless you're going to go, then you just go straight to the bar. Cool, Mexican girl that's there is like it'll be a 10-15 minute wait for two people I'm like that's fine I can wait. Give her my number and my name. 20 mins pass so I get out my car and go back in the restaurant like maybe I didn't give the right number and had seen people leave so let me go ask. I'm waiting again awkwardly by the door and a blonde Colombian girl approaches us and asks us if they called us I'm like no, but that girl told us 10-15 mins and it's been 20. So she puts her hand on my shoulder and ushers us out saying we have to wait outside until they call us. We're like okay...? So we wait. 30 mins pass. Then 45...We watch people go in and out the restaurant so we're like let's go see what's up because if they're sitting down people before us, that's an issue. We notice that there was a table, a four seater, in the front that was empty when we came in, which we just assumed was empty for COVID reasons, (even though all tables were full with no "social distancing" inside; if you care about that kind of stuff, this is for you). When we came out again at 45 mins of waiting the table was now occupied by a man who had not ordered take out. Almost an hour and 30 minutes later, when we're already pissed off, ordering take out, and back home they call us that our table is ready. And when we bring up that they effed up and told us to wait 10 mins for an hour and a half table their response was "Oh ... well... we're so sorry," and hung up. Good Taco, fresh and Hot CK Soup, delicious gocamole, and decent drinks. Nice outdoors, and colorful chairs setting in the main dining, beautiful painting and colorful walls . Somewhat perplexed by the low reviews others have given this establishment. This review is for a Monday lunch. The place was about 30% full, clean, bright and similar in vibe to places I had recently been to in Texas. My host, who had been here before, recommended the molcajete. This uses the volcanic vessel as a cauldron for a savory combo of beef, chicken, shrimp, avocado, and a mozzarella-like cheese (queso oaxaca?). The cheese melts into the gravy at the bottom, and you eat the whole thing with small flour tortillas. (More could be supplied). Rice and beans are served on the side. It's a bit pricey for this sort of place at 16.99 but would feed two as a main dish, if you've had an appetizer. Ask for hot sauce and you will get both a hot chipotle and a mild green salsa. The latter was pretty similar to a Leon valley parsley cilantro sauce. Tacos looked good, were made with double tortillas as they should be. Some of the portions going to neighboring tables were enormous. No problems with the service, although I asked for a club soda and got a Mexican Coca-Cola. It was pretty tasty though. Will come back for tacos, cemitas and tortas. Seems promising. On the second visit had the enchiladas plate (see photo). The enchiladas were topped with a salad of iceberg lettuce, onion, avocado, radish and crema. The sauce could have been spicier, but overall the dish was fresh and wholesome. Chicken was better than the steak. Added a bit of the green salsa for extra flavor - it seemed a bit hotter than the first time I tried it. Was craving Mexican food so stumbled across this place. We decided to test it out. Hands down the best guacamole I've ever had! Both my boyfriend and I ordered the large quesadillas. We could not finish it so we wrapped it up and took it home as leftovers. The service here was just okay. I had to ask a couple of times if they could refill my drink. The leftovers that we took home tasted awful the next day. We couldn't even eat it so I threw it away. Additionally, I tried ordering off their menu online several weeks later for delivery. Their website says "WE DELIVER". I called to place an order and the girl on the phone told me they don't deliver. Either you do or you don't.
