This has to be one of the best Mexican restaurants we've ever been to! Everything is made fresh, and you can smell the delicious food as soon as you walk in. The flavors are authentic, and every meal we've had has been amazing. The portions are just right, and their freshly made nachos are one of our favorites. The chips are crisp, the toppings are generous, and everything tastes so fresh. The restaurant is cute and cozy, but seating is limited, so we order takeout quite often. The good news is that the food travels really well and tastes just as great when we get it home. If you're looking for fresh, flavorful Mexican food, this place is definitely worth a visit! First time visiting and it definitely won't be my last! This restaurant has been around for about six years, and I'll admit I had previously dismissed it because it's located in an outer strip of stores where Harmon and Bed Bath & Beyond once were. I truly wish I hadn't--because I was thoroughly impressed with the food, the décor, the service, and the extensive menu. There are so many dishes I want to come back and try. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant impressed us with its vibrant, themed décor and incredibly friendly staff who made us feel right at home. Warm tortilla chips with chunky salsa and glasses of water were brought to our table immediately after we sat down, which was a great start. They have a full-service bar, and while they don't offer frozen cocktails, we honestly didn't miss them. I had a coconut margarita, and my husband enjoyed a passionfruit rum cocktail. He doesn't drink tequila, so I asked if rum could be substituted, and they were more than happy to accommodate. He chose a Tajín rim, while I opted for sugar instead of salt. Both drinks were strong, flavorful, and served in really nice, heavy margarita glasses. We both chose specials from the House Special Grill, and wow--what a great decision. My husband had the skirt steak and jumbo shrimp, served with a creamy corn salsa, and he loved every bite. I ordered the grilled steak with sautéed onions, homemade tortillas, cactus pad (nopales), rice, and beans. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and perfectly prepared. I first ate here a few months ago and the food was amazing, the young lady who served me was super nice, and the ambience was so welcoming. My next visit a few weeks ago for a quick lunch before some snow was headed this way, wasn't as great. Service started off good, and my order was placed and served to me quickly. It started to get busy while I was finishing eating (Tacos Al Pastor--yummy) , so I asked for the check from the server, but instead of bringing it to me promptly, she went and took the order of a large table, then chatted with a family sitting nearby, and went past me another few times before I was finally able to get her attention by making the "check, please" gesture. Instead of apologizing for forgetting about me and making me wait, she said nothing and just went and got the check and placed it on the table. I paid, requested a box for my food and thanked my server but didn't get any response, like not even a "thanks for coming" or anything, which I did find rude and off-putting. I had been thinking of ordering dessert to go, but changed my mind after waiting so long for my check, plus the servers attitude. The food is top quality and service is excellent. the restaurant is also quite well decorated for such a miniscule place. The only caveat keeping this review from being five stars is the price. Food was good. Service was disgusting. Initially we were sat at a reasonable time, but everything after that was just a mess. Firstly, they took forever to even come jot down our orders, and that would have been fine if the place wasn't empty when we first got there. Secondly, after we had received our food there were no checkups at all, even when other guests were getting more than enough checkups, which looked like favoritism. Lastly, when we were ready to pay we had asked to split the bill, and our waitress jotted down what we each ordered to initially split the bill, and waited almost half an hour for them to just come back and say they can't do that, telling us we need to figure out who wants to pay and then split it between ourselves. Food (on a day and time that was not all that busy) took a very long time to get to the table (perhaps 45 minutes give or take) and once it got there, it was cold and had to be returned to be reheated. Food was delicious. I had the steak fajita which was flavorful and plentiful but the dish that was absolutely outstanding was the black bean soup. I could have just had that as a meal. The strip didn't have any foot traffic but the closer I got to the restaurant, the more cars I saw parked outside of the restaurant. When my family and I arrived, we noticed the place was full of people. We didn't expect the restaurant to be packed since there wasn't any foot traffic outside. When we got our order and tasted the food, I said to myself "so this is why the restaurant is packed!" Food was so delicious! I went to this place on Friday night with my family and let me start with the second you open the door to this restaurant, you get the Mexican vibe right away. the ambience, the colors and the decor felt so warm. The ladies there are so welcoming. (THANK YOU)!! They don't have a drinks menu as of yet but they did have red and white sangria and jalapeño Margarita along with other flavors and I must say that the drinks were made to perfection.. We walked out and googled for another Mexican spot nearby. When we arrived, I was confused because it's sitting on top of where Bed & Bath was at. Hubby's pollo mole was that rich, complex flavor you get from a good authentic mole with like a million ingredients and a ton of love. My enchiladas suizas we're perfection... Juicy shredded chicken, and that amazing poblano verde on top was something I've been craving since I had it. Every place I go for Mexican food, I always ask for the hottest sauce they have in the kitchen. You never know if you're going to get a great salsa macha, a house blended chili sauce, a bottle of plain tapatío or sometimes they even just bring you more salsa like you've been eating. When I asked here, the woman smiled that smile that says, "Don't worry, mija, I got you." She brought out two small bottles. One was a chili sauce they made and a bottle of something with an angry dog on the label, made in El Salvador.
