Tacos Al Pastor
Susanne O.

I first ate here a few months ago and the food was amazing, the young lady who served me was super nice, and the ambience was so welcoming. My next visit a few weeks ago for a quick lunch before some snow was headed this way, wasn't as great. Service started off good, and my order was placed and served to me quickly. It started to get busy while I was finishing eating (Tacos Al Pastor--yummy) , so I asked for the check from the server, but instead of bringing it to me promptly, she went and took the order of a large table, then chatted with a family sitting nearby, and went past me another few times before I was finally able to get her attention by making the "check, please" gesture. Instead of apologizing for forgetting about me and making me wait, she said nothing and just went and got the check and placed it on the table. I paid, requested a box for my food and thanked my server but didn't get any response, like not even a "thanks for coming" or anything, which I did find rude and off-putting. I had been thinking of ordering dessert to go, but changed my mind after waiting so long for my check, plus the servers attitude. I'll probably give them another chance, but it'll be a while.

We went for tacos on a Friday at Don Jose Mexican Restaurant in Yonkers and started with the ceviche pescado. The ceviche was fresh and flavorful, a great way to kick off the meal. The tacos were delicious, authentic and satisfying. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the lunch enjoyable. Overall, a solid spot for a casual and tasty Mexican meal. I'll definitely return!

Enchiladas Suizas

Went here for lunch yesterday and it was a nice clean place with very pleasant servers. I ordered fish tacos. My husband ordered enchiladas suizas. He said it was delicious. I would have loved some type of crème sauce on my fish tacos but they only came with some cilantro sprinkled on the top and two side sauces that were on the spicy side.

They have a lunch menu. I got the rice and beans and chicken quesadilla for $17 which is an amazing price. I really love this place.

Hands down one of the best Mexican food I've ever had, I haven't had anything bad from here everything is tasty. The service is great , place is a little crowded definitely need to wait but the turn around is fast. I highly recommend this place , it's for sure a hidden gem if you know you know.

where do I start????? After searching for a good Mexican restaurant we came across Don Jose, a real authentic Mexican food. I've been to so many's Mexican places including in Cancún, but this restaurant beats them all, it had an Amazing service ,they treated us like family with so much love and respect. The atmosphere was calm and the music was soft. The food was extremely fresh and well seasoned especially the steak and had an indescribable flavor. Can't wait to go back there again!

Delicious food. Great Mexican flavors. The taco bowl was amazing, next time I'd have it without the fried tortilla. They give you hot chips as soon as you sit down which is my favorite part of any Mexican restaurant

The food here is always delicious. My favorite thing on the menu is the tacos arabes, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

Everything felt watery, and while I understand that some locations may cater to people who prefer milder food with more moisture, it just didn't work for me. I had the beef birria. The texture was all right, but it was very saucy without much kick. It honestly tasted more like a generic meat filling rather than something with the bold flavor I'd normally associate with birria. The rice was forgettable, there were a lot of chips, and the drinks were okay. This was just an average spot. I wouldn't come back unless they made some noticeable improvements. Maybe if you're tired and just need a quick pit stop, it could work as a one-time group experience.

We had the chicken and pastor burritos, and chorizo tacos. Loved the burritos. Tons of flavor - both had char-broiled flavor to them. Very filling with nice sauces and black beans and yellow rice on the side. Fantastic burritos. Great taste great value - getting them the next time I'm back. Also had the Chorizo tacos. Really liked them. The chorizo was a little salty for my liking- still very flavorful. And in general, 3 tacos for me doesn't fill me up. So for value, I'm going to stick to burritos. Service was fast. Was there on a Saturday evening. No wait. Order was taken and ready to go in 5 minutes. The service was notably friendly as well. The restaurant was clean and inviting. I'm excited to know about Tako. I'll be back.
