    Beef Nachos for hubby
    Robbyn A.

Yuck - I'm getting so annoyed at these places. I wanted to say something else. But this is PG13, how do you mess up enchiladas? Well ask this restaurant. Beans gross, ground beef awful, and you can taste the 8 day old oil they use to cook their tortilla chips, that aren't even complimentary. I understand things have gone down since the pandemic, but this place was gross. The seats had food on them, little flies and bugs around. This isn't even a bigger issue than the food being ridiculously gross. I should have just gone to Taco Bell; at least their ground beef is flavored in an edible manner. Never again.

Wonderful experience here visiting for my first time. Fun, festive, colorful ambiance, although lighting is extremely dim. Wait staff and food runners are all excellent. Salads were plentiful and delicious. Would highly recommend and would absolutely return.

First let me say that this hurts to write this..I remember this place being great. We found ourselves in Yonkers the other day and I've been craving Tacos..so of course we stopped in. I order a beer and the attached pic is what I got..looks like it spent 5 years on the bottom of a dirty cooler, he didn't bring or offer a glass ( as if I would put my mouth anywhere near that bottle ) then I waited for my chips and salsa as I would expect at ANY Mexican restaurant..nope, not this one. I review the menu and can't find the Tacos..when I inquire, I'm told "we don't serve Tacos on the lunch menu"..yes, a Mexican restaurant that won't serve Chips & Salsa or a Tacos until after 5pm..that's INSANE!!! Anyway, the staff is friendly, bar is big, the decor is nice, the food is not great at all. What a disappointment! Central Ave losses yet another ( once great ) eatery.

Piña Colada & Passion fruit Margarita

A friend and I decided to meet here as previously other friends had a good experience here. We order two main meals (grilled salmon and grilled steak), fresh guacamole, cocktails (passion fruit margarita, piña colada). We also ordered dessert (abuela's cake) and cappuccino. The prices were totally different from menu available in Yelp. The hours we we went was still lunch hours and the only menu available was the dinner menu. The service was not great. We had to look around and call someone every time we wanted something else. We were unhappy with the bill and we're not planning to eat here anytime soon.

Chicken fajitas. As you can see veggies are so shrunken down and not much chicken. Taste was there though.

Came here with a friend, our usual Mexican spot closed so we came here to get our fix. Pretty disappointed. Service was okay but we were seated in the back and at times were forgotten. We got no chips and salsa and clearly saw waiter bringing the baskets to other tables and not ours. I got chicken fajitas but the portion was the smallest portion I've ever seen. Usually fajitas are bursting with fresh peppers and onions and lots of meat but these peppers with super tiny and I had maybe 6 strips of chicken. For the price didn't seem worth it. Ambiance was okay but as I mentioned seated in the back so we were hidden away in a corner.

Haven't been here in a while and was very pleased to see all the Halloween decorations . It was very festive ,fun and colorful .All the staff were very enthusiastic and in full costumes. The frozen margaritas chips salsa and guacamole were great . We had tacos al carbon and the chicken burrito with tostones. Everything had a great authentic flavor and we will be back ! Thanks guys for a great lunch

Upon consensus my family agreed Four Stars was deserved. Food was delicious, service polite and prompt, menu selection excellent, price was right. They make the guacamole at the table. Score extra points for that! Photos grabbed in the midst of protestations from family. Hahaha

    Guacamole and piña coladas

We were able to sit in a nice sunny section of the restaurant. It wasn't crowded at lunch on the weekend. The guac was made table side to our surprise. The piña coladas were pretty good. The enchiladas were pretty okay. The cheese one was the best one of them all. We nearly had the place to ourselves which was nice.

Food is horrible and drinks are brought to you in a small plastic cup not even a margarita glass. Totally, killed my Congo de Mayo spirit.

Do you still have happy hour?

Yes they do! I can't remember timing but I think its like 4-7pm (or 6) and I saw margs are $8. Call them and they'll be able to give details!

Do they have a free dessert when celebrating someone's birthday? Or anything special for birthdays

They don't. They have a dessert menu but they're not like other restaurants where staff joins in and sings happy birthday.

Does this place have a private party room for about 50 people?

Hi Diana, sorry for the delay on the answer. We currently do not have a private room to host a party. We can see what we can do to accommodate you. Is there a number we can call you at?

Do they do anything special for birthday?

This restaurant has been around for about…read moresix years, and I'll admit I had previously dismissed it because it's located in an outer strip of stores where Harmon and Bed Bath & Beyond once were. I truly wish I hadn't--because I was thoroughly impressed with the food, the décor, the service, and the extensive menu. There are so many dishes I want to come back and try. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant impressed us with its vibrant, themed décor and incredibly friendly staff who made us feel right at home. Warm tortilla chips with chunky salsa and glasses of water were brought to our table immediately after we sat down, which was a great start. They have a full-service bar, and while they don't offer frozen cocktails, we honestly didn't miss them. I had a coconut margarita, and my husband enjoyed a passionfruit rum cocktail. He doesn't drink tequila, so I asked if rum could be substituted, and they were more than happy to accommodate. He chose a Tajín rim, while I opted for sugar instead of salt. Both drinks were strong, flavorful, and served in really nice, heavy margarita glasses. We both chose specials from the House Special Grill, and wow--what a great decision. My husband had the skirt steak and jumbo shrimp, served with a creamy corn salsa, and he loved every bite. I ordered the grilled steak with sautéed onions, homemade tortillas, cactus pad (nopales), rice, and beans. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and perfectly prepared. We ended the night on a high note with dessert--one of the best flans I've ever had--paired with a glass of hot Mexican coffee. Absolutely delicious. Amazing food, great drinks, welcoming service, and a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!

However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

The rice was forgettable, there were a lot of chips, and the drinks were okay. This was just an average spot. I wouldn't come back unless they made some noticeable improvements.
