So everytime you have to get up, go inside, stand in line, then order another round of margaritas. Then Wait. Tedious process. Would have been great if bar had its own register and a bartender. Cos everytime drinks were made by different person. On a positive side, drink were great. Spice margaritas were different (made by different leople) but both versions were really good. I've just tasted the BEST chicken tacos EVER. I found this place while staying in Yonkers for business and can't recommend it enough! The authentic Mexican vibe and tremendous customer service (I was greeted by several staff seconds after walking in to the joint) is top notch. After enjoying my tacos, I spoke to one of their friendly employees out in the promenade and told her about my wonderful experience. I asked her if they made churros and was thrilled to hear they did! The employee promptly took my trash to dispose it while I returned to the counter to order freshly made churros, which took only ten minutes to make - and much less time to eat (these were also right up there with the churros from The Colombia Restaurant in Ybor City). The Taco Project takes its time to prepare food versus the haste I've witnessed in other establishments (which, usually meant the food wasn't that fresh). So, if you're local or in the area and haven't experience this place, I can't recommend it enough! I ordered a meal for delivery the other day and The Taco Project came as a suggested listing. I have never heard about it before so I decided to give it a try. I ordered a chicken burrito and chicken quesadilla through Uber Eats. The food came in about forty minutes or so. It was still warm and edible. I liked the large bag it came in. Way to promote your brand The Taco Project. The burrito and quesadilla were very good. The portion sizes are good for the price. We were able to eat enough and still have some saved for leftovers. I was in the area and wanted to go to a neighboring restaurant that had closed. I ended up here because it was open and close by. I'm glad I stopped here. I had the chips and salsa and a burrito. This day, i decided to "spice" things up and try a new one. 1 order of Tacos al pastor. It comes with 2 tacos for $12.. over priced to begin with. The pork was not even cut, it was literally from the feeezer to warm up and serve. Look at my photo. No pineapple either. 1 order of tacos de chorizo. This was the driest taco ever in my life.. One of the Untermyer Gardens staff liked this place so we gave it a try given it was across the road and down the street. Their fish tacos, which can be fried with batter or grilled, as well as their sweet plaintains were tasty and tender. Their drinks, which included lemonade, horchata, and hibiscus. were refreshing, but lacked any notable special taste to crave more. However, everything else was either too salty or spicy. For example, both their guacamole and chips were salted beyond belief where my parents found them inedible. The buffalo wings were so spicy that they needed more ranch dressing to neutralize the oils. The music is quite loud, so it's probably for a younger, hip crowd than senior citizens with hearing aids. The restaurant is also quite small with only a few small tables that seat four people aside from the high bar stools along the walls. Some saving graces included their staff's friendliness and recommendations. However, the service seemed uncoordinated and slow with a few customers and more staff onsite. Came here for happy hour. Drinks were made with care. Can't beat $6 jalapeño margaritas with tajin rim. The guac was delicious, corn tortilla chips were crispy and not too salty. The restaurant has seating inside and has a nice mural elevating the ambiance. The staff are cordial and friendly. Need to go back to try their food next time. I wanna start this off on a positive note -- the food is consistently good. I've been coming here for years and my order tastes the same and great every time. Sometimes the wait is short, sometimes not so much, but it's usually reasonable. Overall they have a good menu and there's yummy food. That being said, after my most recent meal, my opinion has gone down. The place has become prohibitively expensive. I had a kid's chicken quesadilla (cause there was NO way I was gonna pay for the regular one), and a side of Mexican corn. Mexican corn is a big favorite of mine, and I was so so disappointed. It didn't taste bad -- IT DIDNT TASTE LIKE ANYTHING!!! At the end of the day, you'll enjoy the food, but your wallet won't. read more

I'm updating my review of Taco Project based on a recent visit to their Bronxville location. Much better experience with food and drink than I previously had at their Yonkers location several years ago. The Bronxville location is very unassuming from the outside. A few metal tables with chairs on the side walk. Way too hot to eat outside on our evening visit but it wasn't much better inside. The place was packed on a hot summer night. Although the AC was on the place was really warm. I'd definitely return when it was cooler or less crowded. I would highly recommend the beer batter shrimp taco's and the pork belly both served in a warm soft corn tortilla. You can get the tacos in a hard corn taco shell or a soft corn tortilla for an additional price. I like corn but my husband doesn't so he wasn't as thrilled with his tacos as I was with mine. He thought the corn taste overwhelmed the filling but I didn't agree. Two tacos come to an order so we got split and got one of each. What you get is taco's nothing else. No chips or salsa, no salad, NADA. Unless you order something else or have a small appetite you are going to still be hungry. BTW the classic and pineapple mango margaritas were good. I like how they rimmed the plastic cup with flakes of salt and cayenne. When the waitress came with the drinks in plastic I observed other patrons had their drinks in glassware. We were indoors not out so I was going to question why our drinks were in plastic and not glassware? You know a cocktail stays cooler longer and is more pleasing and easier to grab than plastic. read more

Man, I don't know what happened, but something changed. Came back after about a year or so, and the food was disappointing compared to how I remembered it from when we used to visit regularly before the pandemic. Bottom line is that their proteins don't taste like they're seasoned with any Mexican spices - it's like they're just salted, and then covered with a sauce or cheese, but on their own, very lackluster. The steak tacos were a favorite of ours in the past, but they were so salty today that they were close to being inedible. The meat, like I mentioned, lacked any kind of Mexican flavor and tasted like very salty pot roast with green sauce on it. Ordered their chips and salsa, and the salsa was pretty good, but the chips were over fried and tasted on the verge of burnt and looked like it, too. Whoever packed up those chips looking like that should be reprimanded lol. The steak quesadilla was also extremely salty bc of the over-salted steak, and the shrimp quesadilla tasted like shrimp that had some salt sprinkled on it and then pressed between tortillas with a ton of cheese - without the sour cream and salsa it came with, it wouldn't taste "Mexican" at all. I don't know what happened, but it's like the cooks changed, and the new ones are not tasting the food they're cooking. It was an interesting experience. I went there on a Saturday night feeling really hungry. The review on google was 4.3 so I thought it might be worth a try. I ordered shrimp tacos and pork belly tacos, for takeout. The gentleman who helped me, Sebastian, was very polite but I noticed that he put down the order as an order of pork belly tacos with one shrimp. That's highly unusual and I thought it's funny so I did not correct him. Instead I left him a 25% tip. He thanked me warmly. Then my food came but right before that I saw the server who took the food to me opened the box and looked at the food with a grin. After I opened my takeout box at my place, there it was, one grilled shrimp sitting on top of the pork belly tacos. I poked around and noticed that the cook took pity on me and actually gave me 2 shrimps. But the one I did not see was tiny. Now the food: it was under seasoned and tasted like dried wood. Some review mentioned the food looks nasty and I don't disagree with that. My one star rating was partly because of the lack of taste in the food, but also because even though the servers there have a sense of humor but it's never ok to tease your customers.
