Tres Leches Cake and Churros with Ice Cream
Urka S.

Really nice vibes! Outdoor seating is very nice even with being next to highland Ave. Food was great! Appetizers - Had nachos, chips and guac. Chips were very tasty nice flavors. Entrees were very good portions. Desserts - had the churros and tres leches. Churros were good but it seemed like they were too long. Did not seem like enough for two people. Tres leches had more chocolate and strawberries than milk, not what I was expecting. Service was very friendly, and patient. I didn't get enough napkins though.

2nd review 5/5/23 - I really hate leaving this bad review because this is one of my go-to places, but my experience tonight was more than disappointing. In true cinco de Mayo fashion, of course we had to come here for dinner. It was fairly packed inside but we opted to sit outside under the tent. We placed our order with a gentleman who we've seen many times before, it seemed as though he was running the show tonight (maybe he's a manager or owner?) he wasn't at all friendly although he usually is - maybe short staffed and stressed? Who knows. Anyway, we place our order - sangria, beer, guac n chips, carne asada chimichanga and beef tacos. The drinks and guac come out no problem. After about 15-20 min, I notice that the tables around us who sat and ordered after us, got their food before us. The guy running the show, comes over to ask for our order again because someone 'messed up the computer' and our order was never put in - sounds sus since we got the guac and drinks, but ok. In the meantime, my husband orders another beer. The beer comes out and so does another sangria, I'm assuming it's on the house since they messed up with the order. Within minutes, the food comes out. I get a nice big chimichanga, cut into it, and it's a veggie not carne asada, which I might add was $3 extra, otherwise I would've just eaten the veggie one. We tell the guy it's the wrong meal, he takes it back with attitude and out comes this tiny little replacement. Now my patience is nearly run out, but I eat it. We finish and get the check - of course it's someone else's check and was $126. My husband tells the same guy, he takes the check and goes inside (still with attitude) my husband follows and I'm thinking he's going to get some good deal. My husband comes out and says he settled the check, shows me the receipt and it's $116. Im really fuming now as I know this is outrageously high for what we ordered and not even once received and apology or anything on the house. This place has been in business a LONG time and this is certainly not their first go around with a cinco de mayo crowd. They have without a doubt lost a customer and tomorrow I will be returning to settle the check correctly, which is at least $50 more than what we should've been charged for what we ordered.

Another night, another los abuelos order. Delicious, fresh, authentic. We ordered the Al pastor burrito. Perfection!

Good service and the food was tasty too. Prices were decent for what we ordered. We would come back again.

Another 'wish I could give an extra half-star' but just misses the mark on 4. Food was very good. Tacos, burritos, quesadillas and whatever my friend had. Smaller human loved the chicken quesadillas. Guacamole could have had more flavor. Their house margaritas were not-so-great I was happy I ordered a beer. Desserts were YUM. Especially the churro with oh-so-creamy and thick ice cream although giving us plastic spoons to eat it with took away from the dining experience. Had to ask a couple times for water as our bus-person was more interested in hanging out in the bar area but our server was very nice and not overly attentive. All in all will definitely come back!

Frozen Margarita.. looks delicious... it's not.

Pleasantly surprised, food was very good. We got tacos and a burrito and both were perfect. Not 5 stars only because they are a bit pricey.

I gave this place the benefit of the doubt that they improved and it's still really bad. Really poor quality Mexican food.

This was a genuinely terrible Mexican meal. The service was also terrible. Overall zero stars. We threw 90% of the meal away.

The festive front and large bar set the tone right away--it practically invites you to kick things off with a tequila and just enjoy the night. One of the highlights was the tableside Guacamole Al Molcajete. Freshly made right in front of us, and absolutely delicious. The chips were warm, colorful, and clearly made fresh--always a great sign. For the main course, we ordered shrimp fajitas, enchiladas rancheras, and chimichangas. The fajitas came sizzling with mushrooms, onions, and peppers, along with all the sides--guacamole, pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, sour cream, yellow rice, refried beans, and flour tortillas. The shrimp had a nice char and great flavor. Everything was generous in portion--we ended up with more food than we could finish. Between the lively atmosphere, attentive, service, , flavorful food, and fun overall vibe, this place delivers more than just a meal--it's an experience. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

We were a party of 9, all anxious to experience the new changes. We were Delighted! We were warmly greeted upon entering the restaurant and our reserved table was ready. Melvin, our skilled waiter introduced himself and ensured we were all comfortable. Fresh, delectable, Salsa and Chips were generously placed at our table and proved to be the perfect accompaniment to the large, very tasty and refreshing original and strawberry margaritas we ordered. Roberto, Joselyn and Finn were most hospitable and periodically checked on us to ensure we were enjoying every offering. The Ceviche appetizer could have been a meal, plentiful with lots of shrimp, avocado, onions and peppers - Oh, So Delicious. In fact, the Best We Ever Had! Our table had a great variety of entrees which elicited lots of oohs and ahhs. The Seafood Crepes and Tres Amigos were two of the many standouts. Even the rice and beans were special - extra creamy and yummy! As delish as all the desserts looked, we didn't get to sample any because we were all invited for coffee and holiday treats back home. Just one of the reasons we Can't Wait To Go Back!

The chipotle gave the chicken a tasty amount of heat without being overwhelming. It was perfectly spiced. Only thing was that it was a bit expensive for what we received. My addition of guacamole added $1.50 to the overall price of about $12.00 for 2 soft-shelled making it $13.50 just for mine. The tacos are a regular size, not large. I just want you to be aware of this. I would still eat here though and left sufficiently satiated. They have a good variety of drinks and offer an ample variety of food on their menu. They even offer desserts. The staff seemed friendly enough. The eatery is clean, cozy, with cute decor. There were outlets close to our table which is nice. I'd recommend giving this place a try.

The rice in the paella was absolutely delicious and there was a good assortment of seafood. My only criticism if any was that it was a little bit oily as we worked our way down to the bottom of the dish. We ate plenty each and had plenty to take home. We then decided to try the desserts. I had the bread pudding or Tres Luce (spelling?) and she had the flan. Both were delicious but unfortunately, towards the bottom of each, we discovered that they had just recently been frozen. They hadn't quite thawed out at the bottom! The service was excellent - warm and inviting. I wish I could've given an extra star, but between the frozen deserts decide and the oily paella I couldn't.

Their skirt steak and lomo saltado are amazing, shrimp burrito very tasty, and you absolutely must end with the churros. My biggest complaint is service is slow which is strange because I've never seen it busy and it can get frustrating waiting around for someone. And though the decor and space is really nice, the lack of people doesn't make for a fun and/or lively atmosphere which I find really important for any restaurant experience.
