Pretty good spot! I was really craving some Mexican food one night and found this restaurant that does takeout. The exterior and interior looks so cute that I had to stop by. I ordered the BBQ pulled pork bowl and it comes with a crispy tortilla shell on the bottom. They also have tacos and burritos too. The pulled pork was super juicy and flavorful, and I love how you can fully customize your bowl to your liking. I wished they gave a little more meat, and less rice and beans. The rice and beans don't have much flavor, but it's alright. I'll probably come back to try their burritos one day. read more

An overall disappointing experience of missing ingredients, bland food, and dry overcooked meats. This new Westchester Mexican fast casual chain really missed the mark on all metrics. Perhaps the growing pains of a new operation. I ordered the chorizo tacos, pork belly tacos, steak burrito, and churros. The steak burrito, intended to be filled with rice, beans, queso fresco cheese, and sour cream, was missing both sour cream and the grilled corn (extra charge). It fell apart immediately as picked up. The flavor was bland, even with the addition of the tomatillo and pico de gallo. And the steak was overcooked to a dry flavorless unidentifiable meat product. The pork belly and chorizo tacos were served in stale hard shells, a major misstep given Taco Project prides themselves on their farm-to-table yellow corn tortilla. Similar to the steak burrito, both the pork belly and chorizo were overcooked into a dry tasteless bite. And the flavors were off balance and required an acidic kick. We did takeout. We had one order of pulled pork tacos, one order of steak tacos and and one order of sidewinder fries. The sidewinder fires were very good, however, one of the three dipping sauces was not included in our order. My wife said the BBQ sauce on the pulled pork was not very go0d and the onions were not caramelized. The steak tacos were bad. I asked them to hold the radishes, they said they would, but they did not. There was no guaca salsa with the tacos and the steak was so over cooked it resembled shoe leather. One of the better locations, along with Yonkers, where there's room to sit down and dine. The Tarrytown location is kind of cramped for sit down dining but is available. Food is great for Mexican/Latino fare in the area. Parking is convenient nearby. Service is quick and top notch. Their app helps if want take out. I paid $.50 extra for lettuce on my burrito and they literally put about three leaves of lettuce the size of baby arugula in my burrito... I had to call and provide feedback because I couldn't believe that they had the nerve to charge me extra for that on top of an already overcharged food item. Visited Taco Project for the first time in Pleasantville and I was extremely pleased. The waitress/ cashier was extremely pleasant and made the experience that much better. It's not an upscale place, the food is reasonably priced, and the drinks are STRONG in the best way possible. I had a watermelon margarita and tried the classic mojito, and both were excellent. As for the food, authentic Mexican vibe. The chicken quesadilla was filling, the burrito bowl was extremely flavorful, and I added the coconut shrimp which was a special for the day. We also had a side of chips and guacamole for the table and literally ate every drop. To top it off the decor was everything. While I do love a lot about having this taco place a quick walk from my house, and they are very nice and the orders are always correct, I do find there to be inconsistencies. I order the same thing every time and it will have a different amount of parts of the filling, depending on who makes it I suppose. I wrote a review a few months ago saying I was charged $10 for sweet plantains and the portion was like three bites. The owner commented beneath my review and said they dont have "sides" that cost $10. Plantains are not on the website menu but they are sometimes available to order in the restaurant and they are definitely under "sides" How do you not know this??? I love a good old ground beef taco and The Taco Project is serving up a most excellent one! Classic American style ground beef taco featuring a fresh made crispy corn shell, seasoned ground beef, lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese, and sour cream (2 for $8.45). A little greasy yeah, but in a good way, yeah you know what I'm talking about . This is what those "taco kit" tacos you make at home aspire to be! Lol. Have only eaten in never takeout (backyard and indoors) and my experience has been fine, in fact the staff is friendly and accommodating (not getting some of the negative reviews)... One visit the kitchen was backed up, the staff came around to all the tables apologised and gave everybody complementary chips and salsa and free drink refills. I think that's kind of awesome. Be kind, it's extremely difficult for businesses to survive in this pandemic. A small place not many tables indoors but they have a decent sized backyard. Not full table service. You order at the counter than you go sit and they serve you. If you want something else you gotta get up and order from the counter. No problem. I stick with the ground beef tacos but family has had chicken tacos and vegetable tacos and say they are yummy. Guacamole, salsa, and chips are fresh and delicious. Sidewinder fries are crazy good!
