This is a nice Mom and Pops restaurant. It was my first time here. I love trying new places, especially a small business. Me and my family tried a variety of things. We love to eat off each other's plate. When you walk into the restaurant. You get a feeling that you went back into the 80's this place reminds me of dinners my grandfather used to to take me to as a kid. The walls have wood paneling, and the ceiling is acoustic. The restaurant is actually a good size, but they use the small side of the restaurant. I haven't been here at night. So it could get full enough to fill the other half of the restaurant. The service is great, and fast. You are checked on often from the waitress and bus boy. Even the owner makes sure things are running smooth. My kids loved the hot chocolate. It tasted like Swiss Miss to me. The Ice Tea without sugar is refreshing. So the food overall, can be a hit and miss. The jalapeño and eggs were great. Not hot, as you would think. The eggs are are fluffy, with diced jalapeños. The hash browns were ok. I like mine more crispy than the way they make them. The chicken and mushroom sandwich, is more like a burger. It is juicy and flavorful. The fries are nice and seasoned. I love the way they taste. They cheeseburger was okay. The kids pancake was pretty good. The bacon is a hit and miss. You can get some that overcooked, and some that are perfect. The Country Ham Steak was pretty salty. Well for me. It is served very juicy. So if you get it, make sure to eat you eggs with it at the same time. That will cut into the salt. The prices are not bad. I recommend this place. My friends recommended this Mom and Pop restaurant in Lakeside. They like to support local businesses. Our server was exceptional-she totally is an old school I've worked here forever waitress. Very attentive. My husband said his chicken fried steak was the best he had ever had. They serve it with a creamy sausage gravy. The mashed potatoes were straight up good. No frills and satisfying. Chicken noodle soup was also homestyle. What I really like about this restaurant is that they offer a variety of options: pancakes, French toast, and Belgian waffles. Everything is affordable and love their daily specials. We all went for the early bird dinners. My friend's meatloaf looked yummy! I'll try that next. This place was so cute! We came in with our 3 kids ( 1 of them an infant who was just not having it today ). They were so accommodating to us and our situation. My kids both got the breakfast option from the kids menu .... And they typically leave more than 75% of their food on the plate, but they ate everything! The tuna melt was amazing. Food ain't bad -- the staff just sucks Went in with my wife's card to pay for a to-go order, the cashier took the card and swiped it *paying for the meal* but then refused to give it back until I brought her in to verify her identity. I understand the scrutiny if a person hands over a card with a name that doesn't look like theirs, but if you're worried about credit card fraud MAYBE DON'T PAY FOR THE FOOD WITH THE CARD FIRST?? Let me start by saying our service was great! Everyone was friendly and smiling. I was even complimented on a a new summer dress I had worn for the first time. That being said I noticed an unpleasant odor as soon as I walked in. Smelled like mold but we gave it a shot anyway. We placed our order and food came out fairly quickly. We ate and then left to do some shopping. As we were walking around the store I realized I wasn't feeling very well. Several hours later I realized it was food poisoning. So I meet my fishing friends from Lakeside here for breakfast to plan our next fishing trip to Mexico. After driving by this non descriptive establishment a few time before I found it, I found it. We got a table that fit the four of us and planned our trip. Ordering from the very inexpensive menu that was packed with all of the classic breakfast favorites. I decided to throw a wrench at them. Following a Keto diet, I really saw nothing on the menu that completely fit my dietary restraints. So I put the menu down and explained to the waitress what I wanted to eat. Without missing a beat she listened, took my order, and had the chef to make my meal as requested. Egg scramble with bacon, sausage, avocado, cheese, onions, bell peppers..... c'mon!! Now this wasn't cheap. The breakfast specials were less that $7, my breakfast as ordered was closer to $15. However, it was well worth it. You see, I don't mind paying for what I want. I definitely don't mind paying for exceptional service. I mind even less when the establishment's motif properly represents at a good time. This place did all of that. My only issue was finding this place. I mean it was really hard. When you haven't been here before it's really hard to find. Better signage would really help them out. read more

We ordered the Country Style Benidict, Belgium Waffle combo, Chili Cheddar Omlette, and Western Burger. All of our food was solid and the service was great.
