This was our first time here, and we were impressed from the moment we walked in. The restaurant is bright, airy, spotless, and has a very welcoming atmosphere. The menu had so many appealing choices, and both of our salads were absolutely outstanding--fresh, flavorful, and generously prepared. Really really....I mean really enjoyed the burgers...I had the ABC burger with BBQ sauce instead of ranch (definitely an option they should promote) and the BBQ sauce was NOT overwhelming (that's a good thing- you could really taste the burger). The fries were good... but that's all I had to say about them. I did like the onion rings so I'll probably try that as my side next time. I really want to try the falafel wrap next time. They have a big menu but they seem to do everything well. I know sometimes a bigger menu variety means they are trying too much but they seem to do well. In process of moving from L.A back to S.D. been in town a week and this is my 2nd visit. The employees are so amazing in every way. The food is stellar. Ray helped me out today. Visited with my son and daughter in law tonight. The cashier was super attentive and responded to our questions with eagerness to serve. Loved that. We sat outside as it was a beautiful day, patio is big and although it has many tables, you don't feel like you're on top of other people. Now the food - we ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, the southwestern chicken sandwich and the crispy tenders with fries they were all really good. Regular fries were delicious, crispy and recently done; however, the cheese fries didn't do it for me and the reason is that it was just a little sprinkled shredded cheese with pieces of tomato and onion so a bit weird. Today was my third time eating at The Stand in Santee. My wife wanted to go for her birthday. The food and service have been great every time, but today one member of the staff was super impressive. His name was Will and he seemed to truly care that we had the best experience possible. He let us know about options we may have not known, made thoughtful suggestions for our kids, and even asked if I was a veteran so we could get a discount. Will made our experience go beyond the food, which was also so tasty. Great place! read more

Came back again, this time the food was a bit better. The restaurant was still very dirty with food under multiple tables and tables with dishes left for long periods of time, we had to hunt for a table that was actually wiped. Counter service and the person in the dining room was excellent. Friendly and attentive. This time the sweet potato fries were indeed well done! I ordered a falafel wrap- decent flavor, half of the wrap was lettuce unlike the picture. I would order this again. My husband had the jalapeno bacon burger. He was satisfied with everything but the cold bun (maybe its supposed to come this way?). We'll be back again and bus our own dishes to not contribute to the problem. read more

I'd love to review in this place first open, we have been back multiple times. There hasn't been a thing yet that I haven't liked. This time around I tried the side salad regular and the chips and guacamole. Both were absolutely amazing.. You can't beat the side salad, literally it could be all you would need for lunch. So fresh!! I absolutely loved the chips and guacamole, especially with the chips that they serve it with, it was a surprise when it was delivered to the table and I love them. I've had about three different burgers here and they all have been great. The pickles they give you are great and with one or all the dips they have just makes it that much better. They have a good selection of beers on tap too. Service is alway good everyone is nice and will ask how to prepare the burgers and give suggestions. The one I go to is in Santee across from another burger place that everyone knows and love. There are plenty of booths, seating outside, and a bunch of high top tables so even at the busiest of times there is always somewhere to sit. read more

Food was excellent! I ordered thr Thai Red Curry Burger. Very unique. The fried onions and the fresh basil were a win for me but it could have used more red curry sauce. Husband got their egg burger. We also ordered onion rings and chips. Both were good. Chips were better than the onion rings. Onion rings could have had a bit more seasoning and crisp. All of the sauces were tasty. Chicken sandwich on gluten free bread, burger on regular bread, fries and chips with guacamole. The chicken breast was way bigger than the bread. The bread was a bit dry and crumbly, but had some dressing to make it stick together a bit. Burger was great. Fries were crispy and a large portion. The only thing that was off was their chips and guacamole... they were super salty potato chips not tortilla chips. Very strange combination. The small print on the menu indicated potato chips but neither of us read it, we assumed it would be tortilla chips. I would definitely recommend this place. Staff was super friendly and checked in several times to see if we had any needs. They offer free pickle chips. They were crispy and flavorful. The Stand opened in Santee and had heard good things about it, so I had to try it! Came out in a Saturday night, they were busy but no problem getting a table. They have lots of seating inside & on their patio. Joined some friends for dinner. I tried the jalapeño burger with bacon & the fire fries. The fire fries were actually pretty spicy hot. When my food came out the fries were on the warm side, but my burger was good. Not the kind of jalapeños I was expecting. I thought they would be jalapeños rings but they were strips that they grill. The onion rings were delicious. Service was really good. You order at the register and they bring out your food. Great place to watch the game & bring your kids. Pretty casual dining. We were gifted a $50 gift card for The Stand, so we decided to give them another try as our first visit ended with us not staying. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon. The place was relatively busy. We found two seats at one of the communal high-top tables. Once we secured our seats, I went to the counter to order. The Stand is an order at the counter; your food will be brought to you type of place. I asked Michael (same guy who took my order) if one of the TVs could be switched from high school basketball to a marquee college football game. He was happy to oblige; my game was on within minutes. We decided to split the Jalapeño Bacon Burger (beef patty, American cheese, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, bacon, roasted jalapeño, pickled jalapeño, crispy onion strings, jalapeño scallion aioli, on a brioche bun) ordered medium rare. We also ordered a side of fries well done with ranch for dipping, a seltzer and a beer. I paid with the digital gift card on my phone. Michael at the register poured the beverages and handed them to me with a number to place on the table. Friendly service. A little less than 10 minutes later our food was delivered. The burger was split in half for us and was cooked perfectly. The fries came in a separate little tray. They were well done and piping hot. The burger was really good. It was deliciously spicy. The roasted jalapeño was a great addition. The fries were excellent, as was the ranch. The portions seemed a bit small for the price. $13.50 for the burger, $3.75 to add the small container of fries. Beer and seltzer $8 each. Our total was $35.83, and honestly, I could've crushed the burger on my own. It was a tad small to split. The restaurant is definitely geared more towards a family restaurant than bar and grill. Which is great for most, but not our preference. We are bar sitters, and The Stand has no bar. Aside from your food being delivered, there is no table service. If you want another beer, you have to get up and get in line again. They do have a dedicated line for to-go orders and beer, but still a pain. Sodas are self-refill as well. While The Stand is great for others, we didn't really see ourselves returning anytime soon. I went to the line and gave the $14.71 remaining on the gift card to the next person in line. read more

Had The Stand Burger, onion rings, and sweet potato fries. All was good as expected. Everything seemed to be ordered a la carte which can make things add up quickly. We were meeting up with family members and just wanted a place to enjoy food and hang for a little. The Stand was great for that and provided ample seating. Food was ok and seemed a little expensive for the quality and amount received. The service was great! Since it was our first time there, the staff helped us by offering physical menus instead of having to read off the board above. They were helpful in answering our questions about the menu items. After we ordered, we waited at our table and our food was brought out to us. They also offer free dill pickles which is a great perk we certainly enjoyed. After eating, leave your plates and the staff is responsible for bussing the tables as many signs around indicated to us. Our group consisted of 5 adults and 1 toddler. We sat comfortably and were able to enjoy our food so I would say this place is good for small groups. Parking was easy on a Saturday night. Bathroom was decently clean but make sure to ask the cashier for the code before you head back there. read more

Then someone delivers to your table. Great for all ages and parties. They have alcohol beverage options. I was very happy with my order- chicken club onion rings. Went there yesterday and while their ap stated they opened at 10:30, their actual hours are 11:00 but we were greeted at the door at 10:35 and they let us in. It's one of those new walk up and order places where you order and they give you a number to place on your table. The premises were super clean and the staff were super friendly, attentive and interactive from the cashier to Ray. Food was excellent and I'd definitely wander over to Santee from Rancho San Diego, (and my girlfriend from San Diego proper), to enjoy a lunch again. It's a place where you can take your kids or enjoy a casual lunch/dinner. Kudos! read more

Has that smoking charcoal taste that I like so well but can never find. Not so much for the tasteless onion rings, stay away. Price point is fair. I was ready to hate this franchise coming into the neighborhood with elevated prices however.... Sunday at about 6 we had a short wait in a long line and fast service. Young kid servers are adorable. Cameron brought our food and not only had a great smile but such a great attitude. Everyone here contributes to the buzz and cleanliness. Comfortable indoor and outdoor seating that accommodates sports fans and families. Ok, now for the food. Yumm. Dad is always the hardest to please but he enjoyed his hot dog. He said it was different. Mom devoured her bbq brisket sandwich on pretzel bread. Fries were nice and crispy outside and soft inside giving Phil's BBQ fries a run for the money as they are mom's gold standard! I had the ahi salad and boy did I enjoy it. Only suggestion is ask for the dressing on the side. Overall great place. We will keep an eye out for coupons - something that drove us to try it. read more

I REALLY want to love the Stand! If I would have chosen to make my review on first visit, I might have given a full 4-5 stars. The ABC burger is simply delightful! But this review is based off of 4 visits total, which varies between 1-3 stars, hence the 2. I am a picky eater and I'm usually limited to what I desire to eat but there is quite a few menu items I'm excited to try! Round two was the ABC burger because it's awesome. Even went with a shake because this location is not full bar and I wanted something tasty! Round 3, I tried something new. I went with the Short Rib Grilled Cheese. At the end of the day, I didn't like the tomato bacon jam. Just too bright. But the downer of the meal was the house made chips. They were stale/not fresh. Round 4 and more than likely final round for this location, I got the Onion stack burger and chili fries. I said NO tomato bacon jam! My burger came with little to no onions and had the tomato jam. In the defense of the kitchen, I said easy on the onions, but ment that for the chili fries, not the burger. Also, turns out the hickory sauce might be more like the tomato bacon jam and I got the two confused. But it doesn't help that the fries were not hot and fresh. I did mention something about the burger being less than perfect. They did make up for it by making the burger again and they gave me a cookie. I took the cookie home.... IT HAD A HAIR BAKED IN IT! I might go back. I might not. I might save the visit for Carmel Mt Ranch, never had an issue there. It's a shame. If I do go back, it will be for that ABC burger! read more
