Fantastic! My french toast and biscuits were absolutely delicious. I wanted to keep eating when I was already so full. Those were the best biscuits I've had and have been thinking about them. Melissa was delightful and attentive. My bill was half what I was expecting. I'm looking forward to coming back!! read more

Stopped by Patti's Café and honestly the service alone deserves 5 stars. Our waiter was so attentive, kind, and accommodating the entire time. They even let me cocktail the steak skewers with the gyro plate and it was AMAZING. You can tell he genuinely cared about making sure we enjoyed everything. Wishing that sweet hardworking man nothing but success and wealth because people like that are rare nowadays read more

Patty's Cafe La Mesa - Euro plate, but God bless with being able to cocktail with some steak skewers... One of the best restaurants in La Mesa hands-down - American Near Me - La Mesa, California

As someone who lives in walking distance to The Trails, which I don't find to be the best, this place caught me surprise. Came pretty early in the morning after dropping one of the kids off at camp. Party of 10 old foggies oddly talking about AI. A few single old dudes which the owner knew by name and engaged in a kind homey way. The food here is exactly what I needed. It's like old town classic plus serving every breakfast item the way it's meant to be - simple, solid, tasty. While my dish wasn't pretty it was perfect. Hash browns, mushroom omelette with REAL eggs, side of sausage. Cleaned up every bite. Nice spot. Not sure if I'd bring my family but as a dad I'll roll here. read more

The food here is very good. The potatoes are amazing. That's what draws me in. The waitresses are sweet and the service is good, but you do have to grab their attention. They're very busy. The ambience is regular café style. read more

Second time here and will continue to comeback. Small hole in the wall spot. Definitely a hidden gem. Food is fresh with great service. Country Fried Steak 5/5 Amazing crisp, not much breading, just the perfect amount. Nice and thick, very juicy and not dry at all. Gravy is real tasty. Might ask for more next time. Potatoes are delicious and taste really fresh. Not frozen or cheap. Carne Asada Chilaquiles 3/5 A little disappointing dish. Especially for $21. Portion is decent, eggs were the best part. Cooked to perfection. The menu didn't say the carne asada came with Tomatoes. Really thru the taste off. The chips, sauce, sour cream, and portion was great! But the tomatoes just was a turn off. Really ruined the plate and it's not listed on the ingredients. Carne Asada was a generous portion but today, it was a little on the dry side. But first time, I had the steak and eggs and it was cooked great! Service 5/5 Both times I was here, our server was attentive and very welcoming and polite. Hard to find service like that nowadays. Seating 5/5 Even though it's a small cafe/diner, they have plenty of seating and haven't had a wait. I get seated immediately. Especially on a Sunday morning. Overall, can't give an accurate score from the stars but I give it an overall 4.3. Sometimes inconsistent but not horrible. But can't go wrong with the country fried steak. Wife had it twice and both times were perfect! read more

Alberto greeted us warmly and invited us to sit wherever we liked. Within moments he brought us waters and menus. We asked for coffees while we looked over the menu and again Alberto was right there in a jiffy with them. We decided on the Greek omelette for me, Mexican style (refried beans, rice and corn tortillas) and hubs ordered the 2 egg breakfast. As we waited we noticed several groups meeting up at the restaurant that seemed to be regular patrons. Our food arrived and we pretty much scarfed it down, lol. My omelette was delicious and hubby said his was delicious as well. Definitely come by if you're in the area and in the mood for an old school vibe with comfort food. read more

Tbh it's older and rustic. I love that vibe. I grew up on mom and pop diners so it's lovely to see when they're thriving. The waitress was super accommodating to what I wanted when I asked for extra crispy and it didn't come out that way I didn't even have to ask. She just asked if I'd like it to be made crispy and took it back and let them know the ticket said crispy/well done. I would dine here again for sure. Everything tasted good. It's a solidly decent place everyone should stop by at least once read more

This place is a surprising gem set in a strip mall. Service was prompt and friendly. Really 3.5 stars but I rounded up because of the location. Coffee is decent. -.5 Syrup is not maple, it's Aunt Jemima which I haven't seen since I was a kid. -1 star My farmer's omelette was delicious and the hash browns were tasty, crisp on the outside and soft inside. The blueberry waffle was HUGE. Lots of blue berries and a bit of cinnamon. It would have been better with real syrup. $25 for three coffees, a V8, a waffle with eggs and sausage, and a Farmer's omelet with hash browns. read more

The food was very good, and the service was exceptional. We had the French toast, omelette, and biscuits and gravy. It was a little run down (flooring) but the costs were passed down in prices to the customers. Did I mention the food and service was great. They were missing the sign out front and we had to look for it. We will definitely go back. read more

Really nice staff and diner setting, but the food quality is a little subpar. Fair priced.

Food is very good. American and Mediterranean cuisine dishes. Also mexi. Service is quick and friendly. Ambience is cafe booths style. read more

Next to one of my favorite coffee houses is this unassuming diner like location. I know Café is in the name, but I'm not sure if I'd call it a café. They serve coffee, but not a wide range of coffees. But, it is small, very much like a diner. Even has that old-time type of field to it. Staff was terrific. Everyone was friendly and attentive. We arrived right before the lunch crowd. It was a great place to have a breakfast meeting as it wasn't too noisy. I had the veggie frittata with well done country potatoes, and an iced tea. It was good, but had me wondering the difference between the frittata and an egg omelette. It could be me but the frittatas I've had in the past are usually thicker. Having said that it was ok, and served my appetite. The person I was with have the same thing but they're cottage fries were extra crispy. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal. I was very happy. The menu is interesting as there are a few different cultures in the menu. It could be interesting to go back and try a lunch meal. Some thing about the place is just very cozy. So overall, as a place for a breakfast or lunch meeting, it's perfect. read more

Mediocre and bland. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I really wanted to try the chicken souvlaki, but it's made with dark meat which is not my preference. I ordered the Chicken tostada, but was told they were out of chicken breast and would substitute chicken skewers (dark meat). I ended up with the French dip (no cheese). The au jus was bland and the two pieces of meat on the sandwich were dry and overcooked. The fries were a hit, but the Heinz ketchup bottle was obviously refilled with generic ketchup. (We watched the server refilling Log Cabin syrup bottles with generic as well). My companion opted for the Gyro salad. It was good... no complaints, but would have preferred at least a whole pita, not just three measly pieces. The server was friendly and our food came out in a timely manner. Overall a 3.2. I'd Ike to come back and try something else. Perhaps breakfast (sans syrup). read more

Our server was great! She was very patient and kind. I would give her 10 stars!!!! Unfortunately, the food was only mediocre. The Pancakes were a bit rubbery, and the French Toast was just okay. However, I did enjoy my Mushroom Omelet, even though my request for "lite mushrooms" was ignored-there were too many mushrooms. Also, the Raspberry Tea brand (out of the fountain) is absolutely horrible-Fuze. As for the ambiance, it's s simple diner-pretty clean. Nothing fancy. When we walked in, we were the only customers. Eventually, more patrons came...mostly elderly people/senior citizens. read more

First time attempting this restaurant and is a little late review. We went there 2 days ago, 8/18/25, and literally left after TWO baby cockroaches seen! One on the wall next to our table then one actually ON THE TABLE RAN ACROSS MY DAUGHTER'S ARM!! Promptly cancelled our order and walked out! Even showed the waitress the dead roach we killed as it ran across the table! She told her manager but we left before speaking. Was not the waitress' fault that the establishment has an unsanitary bug problem. She was obviously apologetic and embarrassed. Do not recommend this restaurant. read more

My family and I have enjoyed Patti's for years, I have to Laugh because I'll always look at the menu then choose the same thing. If you're in La Mesa and looking for a "Mom and Pop" this is the place! They are very accommodating groups and make you feel at home. We highly recommend Patti's! read more

Discovered Patty's Cafe Today Very clean and inviting! Prices are competitive. Wide variety of menu items. Old fashioned breakfast which we don't have enough of around here. First time here and the service was great! But the food was pretty mediocre, would probably not return. We had a basic breakfast with eggs, bacon, hash browns and banana pancakes. The eggs were okay, I had the over-medium. The bacon was chewy, not crunchy, which threw me off. The hash browns were a little underdone and mushy. And the banana pancakes were a little over cooked making the pancakes itself hard to slice through. read more

I have to update my review because the last 2 times i have called in my order, there's one woman who has placed an extra entree to it. My neighbor who has been going here for years said the same thing is happening to her. The food is very good but have extra entrees added to your order is just not good and this needs to be addressed. read more

I found Patty's in my entertainment coupon book, checked them out on Yelp - I wasn't disappointed!! The diner is located in a strip mall in La Mesa, plenty of parking in the lot. It was a Sunday morning but it wasnt very busy - definitely not a complaint. We were seated right away, close enough to the tv to keep an eye on the game. There were plenty of options to choose from, our order came out quickly. They have some beer and wine. I had a glass of champagne for about $3.
