So..... after 8 months I have finally resorted to a review in hopes it gets the attention of a manager. Every time meat is ordered medium rare it arrives well done. Today after going around in circles with the server she insists they do it right. Burger arrives cut in half and well done. Medium rare is pink in center. When the meat is all grey through that is well done. So after many visits from eating in or take out; from burgers to steak ... Guests need to be aware they can cook raw - if your order rare and well done if you order any other way. In addition, t fried chicken sandwich would be excellent if fryer was cleaned so it doesn't have black particles and taste like old oil. Absurd! read more

For the main course, I ordered the meatloaf. The portion was generous, but the meat itself was bland, its flavor all but buried beneath a deluge of sweet barbecue sauce (Strike 2). The accompanying peas and carrots tasted like they came straight from a bag of Birdseye, and the mashed potatoes were simply... mashed potatoes. My wife ordered the steak. Unfortunately, the meat was equally lacking in flavor, and the fries arrived lukewarm (Strike 3). My hubby dined there after playing golf with his buddies and he brought me back something he knew I would like. A fish sandwich with onion rings!! Oh yes, the onion rings were devoured and the sandwich was delicious! Looked like some coleslaw, arugula, tomato, mahi mahi fish in between a bun. I took my son here for lunch a couple weeks ago and the food was good. I had a fish sandwich with onion rings and he had a ribeye sandwich with onion rings. My son loved his sandwich. There are lots of places I like better, but the value was good for what we got and our server was super nice. read more

Went back again today (Sunday) for brunch, but this time, we had a smaller party and sat indoors. It was just as good of an experience like the first time. My sister-in-law made reservations at noon and it was definitely busier than our previous time at 9:30am. Avery took care of our party and she was great! Despite the busyness she was very helpful and efficient. It was a longer wait for our food to arrive but it was all worth it. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed what they ordered. From dishes like the avocado smash, smoked salmon tower, Red Tail burger to the chocolate & coffee cake, mimosas and more, all the food & drinks more than satisfied all of our cravings. There was nothing lacking. This was another great experience at this place and we can't wait to go back. We need this restaurant in North County! read more

Red Tail Bar and Grill is actually a really nice spot--from the outdoor area to the inside, everything feels inviting and well-kept, even the bathroom was impressive (had to mention it, LOL). We went on a Tuesday and asked about specials, and they told us about their $4 Taco Tuesday with a nice selection to choose from. Apparently, everyone at my table had the same idea because we all ended up ordering tacos, and they were delicious. I've been here many times over the years and always had good experiences. We especially love sitting on the patio for breakfast. Some of the servers have been working here for years and they're so friendly and welcoming. We were disappointed this weekend because we found that they had changed their menu again and no longer served our favorite crispy tater breakfast skillet. Such a bummer! This restaurant is located on the Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan. Loved that it's right on the golf course for starters with the pro shop next door (Singing Hills has the biggest golf pro shop I've ever seen!) Red Tail is an upscale bar and grill with a nice bar area and a separate area for seating. The ambiance is very laid back and perfect after a day on the course. My wife, daughter and I ate here for wife's birthday last night. We were seated promptly and the service was excellent throughout. My wife had the 9oz medallion steak that came with whipped potatoes and a serving of cooked veggies. She said it was delicious and she saved half of it for lunch the next day. I had the french dip with fries and it was also excellent. I can't recall the last time I had french dip so this was a delight. My daughter (she's 11) had the kids pizza meal which she also really enjoyed. Overall I will definitely be back, especially after a round of golf. read more

I had a good breakfast burrito from this eatery at Singing Hills Golf Course and Resort by Sycuan. Overall the burrito was okay, having some high notes and lows as well. The breakfast burrito comes with scrambled eggs, bacon, pepper Jack cheese, and hash browns. These all great ingredients. What I liked about this burrito were the scrambled eggs. They were well scrambled and seasoned. The bacon was good and they put a decent amount of it in the burrito. I like the idea of hash browns in the burrito, but the problem was that they mixed them in with the eggs and breakfast; as a result, they became to soft and mushy. Hash browns need to have texture, especially some crispiness, but these did not. I would consider preparing separately, to crisp them up, and then add to the burrito as separate ingredient. Another words, don't scramble them with eggs! The flour tortilla was good and overall the burrito was of a good size. It would be great if they would out the burrito on the griddle after it's rolled up to lightly brown up the tortilla too. Service was okay. It was friendly, but on the slower side. Whether it's intentional or not, I am not sure. Let's just say it took longer than usual for service. Not that I complain. read more

A co-worker and I spent the weekend at the Singing Hills Resort ... the last time we were here (7yrs ago), it was the Sycuan Resort. We returned to play golf on the Oak Glen and Willow Glen courses as well as Cottonwood nearby. We ended up having three meals at the Red Tail Bar & Grill; breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had the Huevos Rancheros and Black Forest Benedict for breakfast; these dishes remained unchanged, at least in our memories. My only nitpick was I wanted the English Muffin toasted more. For lunch we had The Red Tail Club Sandwich and the Chorizo Flatbread. The latter looked like the Crispy Chicken Naan except for chorizo replacing the chicken. My co-worker loved his dish. My club sandwich was less successful ... the ingredients were not distributed evenly so there was no aioli or tomato on two of the pieces and no avocado on the other half. The fries were good. We returned for a third time after an unsuccessful trip to Sycuan Resort and Hotel because the restaurants, we tried to go to almost all of them, but were stymied by: a) Bull & Bourbon being completely booked; b) a hostess that didn't seem to want to seat anyone at the Viewpoint, c) a mechanical problem that closed the Pink Buddha, and d) Elicit Lounge was closed. So, my friend ordered the Specialty of the House, a 10oz Prime Rib, available only medium or higher, and I had the Achiote Chicken. The prime was served with whipped potatoes, seasonal vegetables and roasted garlic ... horseradish sauce was extra. My chicken came with hominy corn succotash and a lime cream sauce that hinted of curry; it was delicious! I had two gin & tonics; they were okay and inexpensive at $9ea. We split an order of the Crispy Artichoke and Grilled Asparagus ... this was very good. All in all, Red Tail Bar & Grill is a decent place for a meal; service is good; it' s convenient to the Singing Hills Resort and you can charge your meals to your room. A bonus, we received a $50 credit when we checked in. Rating? A solid 3.5 out of 5. read more

The menu has something for everyone and the food is consistently good. The hash brown were delicious, some of the crispiest I have ever had. The service and ambiance is fine, but in the past 5-6 years, they keep changing the menu and it's getting worse and worse. We love that place, and first they remodeled the dining area, and then changed the menu, but there were still some good options. Then the restaurant was closed during the week, so we went into the bar side, same menu. Every time they create a really good entree or appetizer, the next time we come in, they don't have it. This includes the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. We have literally had everything on this newest menu, and we have been disappointed every time. The one thing that is usually consistently good was the fish and chips and this last time it was a small portion and over cooked. So disappointed. They need to bring back the menu and the chef from before COVID. We have decided not to go back which is really sad because we actually got married there and now it's not the same. 5 star breakfast being served up here! This place is a hidden gem. I was really impressed with how simple yet beautiful this place is. We came in on a Saturday morning and had a lovely breakfast. Everything on the menu looked and sounded great, but I decided on an egg white only Sycuan omelette with no tomatoes. My friend ordered a country fried steak which I knew I'd sneak a bite of. My omelette was filled with ham, mushrooms, green onions and plenty of cheddar cheese. It was topped with a scoop of guacamole which went perfectly with everything. The omelette had perfectly cooked and seasoned eggs and overall was very light and fluffy. I almost always add a dash of pepper to my omelettes, but this didn't need anything. I got my omelette with a side of country potatoes, which I highly recommend over hash browns because they come with peppers and onions. The country potatoes are crispy and flavorful. The country fried steak is fried to perfection and had a really delicious homemade sausage gravy on top. I decided on a pancake over toast and I was very happy I did. A nice fluffy pancake with the perfect amount of butter. Our server Veronica was wonderful. Very attentive and kept us happy the whole time here. Not only will you have a beautiful view of the golf course here, but you're gonna have a very filling breakfast that's easy on the wallet. Highly recommend Red Tail Grill. read more

Wonderful place for a wonderful dining experience. We had dinner while staying at The Singing Hills Resort. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. They have a extensive kids menu with many delicious offerings to choose from. The regular menu featured many delicious offerings too. We sat at a booth and was served some complementary Sourdough Bread. This Bread was the best complementary Bread that I had. It was served warm with a crisp and crunchy crust and it was warm and moist inside. It came with whipped butter. My beautiful daughter ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs that came with Garlic Bread. She loved it. My beautiful wife ordered the Salmon and she enjoyed it. I ordered the NY Steak and it was cooked to perfection and came with some delicious roasted Potatoes. My dinner arrived and I open my napkin packet and it only contained a knife. Server disappeared for ten minutes.He finally appeared with bread, I asked for a fork, sour cream and another beer. We had stayed at Singing Hills and we decided to have breakfast at the restaurant on the property it was very very good the only problem that I had was I wanted to sit outside on the patio and apparently they weren't doing it in the morning. The food is really good the prices are reasonable the servers are good polite friendly. This restaurant specifically does breakfast lunch and dinner and they have a bar which is really nice however we did not utilize any of those we had the All American I think it was scrambled eggs hash browns bacon and toast. Played golf there several times but never tried the restaurant. Today I was in the area so I decided to try their prime rib special. One of the best meals I have ever had. Prime rib end cut was cooked perfect. Not sure if it was graded choice or prime but it was very tender. Mashed potatoes with garlic great. Vegs cooked perfect. Wine was good too but at $16 a glass I remembered why I don't go out to dinner that much since January 2021. I was told the hotel by the golf course was closing October 1. Hope they leave the restaurant open or at least for the chef to transfer to the big casino/hotel up the road. Singing Hills and Sycuan are owned by the same entity. read more

Chicken fried steak was one of the best! Crispy crispy! Hash browns also were so crispy. Breakfast burrito had good meat to egg to cheese ratio and they use pepperjack cheese!!! After I realized it was at a golf course this should've been my first clue. But I felt at ease with all the stars on Yelp. The food was NOT southwestern. It's typical American food. We waited a LONG (despite the small number people eating there) time for our meals and mine was lukewarm. The presentation was fancy but I was disappointed. We sat outside because the setting is beautiful so plastic tables and chairs. The indoor decor was outdated and the average age of those seated there was about 65. They told me to pick up by 10:10 am, when I got there to pick up my room by walking with my 80 yrs old mom, they told me restaurant is busy, just placing the order at 10:11 am, not even apologetic about extra 20 min wait time.
