A friend of mine just raves about this place all the time, but my girlfriend and I live in North County so we are rarely in the area. Recently, we happen to be doing some stuff in El Cajon. And decided to stop by here for happy hour. Everything was just as he described great atmosphere, cold beer, friendly staff, great service good food. Our server's name was Cat, and she was fantastic, very friendly, engaging, attentive,and energetic. Unfortunately that all changed when Cat came to our table with another server named Mimi and said that she was going home and Mimi was taking over. The service immediately went south. Mimi was 180° from Cat. She was not very friendly, not enthusiastic, not attentive and seemed very low energy. We watched her walk around the floor several times yawning with her mouth wide open no attempt to cover it up, this was very offputting. We waited 20 minutes after Cat left, and Mimi never came by our table to ask us if we needed anything. She appeared to be ignoring the entire section. She spent most of her time standing over by the wait station or talking to customers at the bar (which I assume we're not her customers). The only reason we were able to order another round is another server that was not working our section came by and asked us if we needed anything. When Mimi finally did come to our table, we just asked for the check so we could pay and leave. The name on the check was Miranda so I'm not sure what that is about. We did also observe that the two bartenders who were working seemed to be cut from the same cloth as Cat, as they were friendly, engaging moving around quickly taking care of those sitting at the bar. If we're ever back in the area and decide to try again, if we see Mimi is working, we will either leave and go somewhere else , or maybe try to sit in someone else's section. read more

I actually worked there a decade ago. I provided them with security. I hope the bar staff clean up as well during my shift. The owner and our staff and patrons are awesome and wonderful people. This was such a neat place, I love how it felt like a community staple. This place was packed on a Saturday morning. I'm glad that I made it for their brunch menu! I ended up getting the breakfast burrito without the bacon to make it vegetarian and it was sooooo good. The salsa it came with was a wonderful mild red salsa. I would definitely order this breakfast burrito again. Plus the burrito was only $12.95, that is not bad at all. I also loved that they host a lot of fun themed nights and events. This really seems like a fun place to work and attend regularly, I wish it was closer to me. The day I went all the of the staff were dressed in PJs because they had a PJ party event planned for that evening. They had indoor seating as well as an outdoor back patio. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. I took a buddy from out of town here for dinner and drinks on a Wednesday night and it was pretty busy. We sat at the bar and both bartenders were very attentive and friendly. I got the buffalo chicken salad as a wrap and it was fantastic. I added grilled jalapeños and subbed the ranch for blue cheese. That thing is big enough for two people. My buddy got the lakeside sliders and tots. They accidentally brought him fries, but he said it was okay and they brought him tots too. read more

Eastbound bar and Grill is located in Lakeside they have outside patio and honestly it was a really cool vibes. The patio itself is super nice, everyone there was friendly right away and the place just felt welcoming. I ordered a Bloody Mary, some wings, and a fish taco and everything hit the spot. The experience overall was awesome. One thing I thought was really cool is during happy hour they spin a wheel and whatever it lands on becomes the promotion for the next 30 minutes, which keeps everyone engaged and makes it fun for the whole crowd. We've been to Eastbound quite a few times, which means they've been good to us. Our last visit was because mini-me's softball team gathered for post-game snacks. It was a busy weekend afternoon, but not overcrowded at the back patio. Thankfully the patio bar was staffed to order a round of drinks. Used the convenient QR code at the table to put in our food order, which arrived in timely fashion. The few arcade games kept the kiddos busy for a moment, but some of the feral ones were more entertained climbing everything from the machines to the trees. Maybe two quality pinball machines would've been neat. A limited selection of games at Eastbound, but The Hills has much better gaming options and variety. I like Eastbound's crafty burgers, Lakesliders, and their pozole is a hearty bowl of deliciousness. Family friendly and pet friendly too. Salute to the service patches above the main bar. read more

Came here Mother's Day and it was pretty packed though we were able to snag a table for five. The downside was that it was a corner table with stools and we barely fit our plates on this very small table. We might've been under a speaker, but it was very loud There was free popcorn near the back on your way to the restrooms, which was nice and they have seating outback. The brunch menu has a lot to offer but I stuck with my faithful choice of a traditional breakfast as my rule goes: if you can't do a simple breakfast, I don't wanna be here. The biscuit was a little too cake-y for my liking. I put on a lot of butter and it still would not help cut the density of it. The bacon was well cooked not too greasy. I think my issue with the plate was that right when I started eating it already felt like it was sitting for a while as it wasn't piping hot. So when I got to the halfway point, my food was definitely getting very cold. The prices though are really good I think for five of us It was about $100 which is pretty impressive. After sitting out there for about 10 minutes without anyone checking to see what I wanted to order, I spoke with an employee there who told me they did not have tableside service on the patio. It would've been nice to know when I walked in the door. After waiting all this time, and finding out there was no tableside service, I inquired about how to order food. Everyone rants and raves about this place so we finally decided to try it. Went on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered the pretzels w/o garlic (my hub is allergic to garlic), ranch cheese fries and Tito's with 7-up. The drinks came very weak, so we asked for an extra shot in them and the waitress added more sprite instead. We told her and she said sorry and put one tiny shot on our table and walked away. The fries arrived about 25 minutes later. There was a tiny dollop of ranch and sprinkle of cheese on an enormous amount of fries. The pretzels didn't show up until we reminded them that we ordered them. They came with garlic. Unbelievable. We didn't even say anything more, why bother? Paid, left the food and walked away. Walked in to Eastbound on a Saturday morning and the first thing that I noticed was the fabulous remodel. New booths, the four-tops are now on the westbound side of Eastbound. Not only does it create more floorspace and better flow, It keeps the place from getting stale. It keeps it fresh and new. Well done. I took up residence at the bar. I was immediately greeted by Sierra who handed a menu to me and took my drink order. They didn't have Salty Crew so Sierra was quick to offer me a Ballast Point Speedboat. Perfect replacement! I finished my beer and by that time Ashley had joined Sierra behind the bar. Ashley was quick to offer a second round. (Both are very easy on the eyes, by the way) A few sips in was when my wife Becky (also easy on the eyes!) joined me. Without missing a beat, Sierra was in front of Becky taking her drink order. We also placed a food order. Lakesilders to share and a small pozole for me. The Laksliders are easily shareable. Four mini burgers with American cheese, grilled onion and chipotle sauce on sweet Hawaiian rolls, served with fries. These little burgers were delicious. Four per order is unprecedented in the world of sliders. We loved the addition of grilled onions. I'm a big fan of the Eastbound Pozole. A traditional Mexican soup of slow roasted pork and hominy, corn or flour tortillas and sour cream, diced onion and cilantro. (You can add a fried egg for $1.95) It can be found on the weekend brunch menu for $11.95 for a gigantic bowl of it. A smaller portion can be ordered for $5.95, which is the perfect portion size for me. I asked for corn tortillas and was given three. Good quality tortillas. Sad to say, we will no longer be going to Eastbound Bar and Grill in Lakeside California. We've been going to the restaurant for about 13 years since we moved to Lakeside. Always had excellent customer service even when crowded and super busy. They had the juiciest burgers, the best drinks and just a fun atmosphere. The quality of food has really gone downhill. The burgers are no longer juicy. They're smaller, potato tots and fries were super greasy and tasted like old cooking oil. In the past, they've struggled to make a rare burger, but because the customer service was always so good it was something I was willing to overlook. Not anymore the only thing that's worth going, there for is the outdoor patio and if you've got younger kids, they can get a little crazy and not disturb anyone. I'm really sorry to say that I'm looking for a new burger place with better customer service. read more

They recently had a Caesar salad on galentines day and that was amazing! They need to add this to their regular menu (imagine a chicken Caesar salad wrap?!). Pretty swell place! Same owners/sister bar to The Hills in La Mesa, so the food is just as good & maintaining the same quality & helpful service & fun atmosphere. Since it's East County and Lakeside, it's more of a western/rodeo vibe, which is apt & perfect, especially when the rodeo is in town. Overall, management does a great job of hiring staff, designing & maintaining the menu & quality. Keep it up!!! read more

This was a great spot to enjoy some beers, have yummy food with kids and the dog! They have indoor and outdoor sitting! I wish I had taken a picture of my beer, but the name has raspberry in it, which was tasty if you like a fruit twist to your beers. The food was delicious: mini burgers with tater tots, salad wrapped in a tortilla (my fav) rodeo burger, pretzel bites, firecrackers and French fries! Beer is ice cold, staff is super friendly and engaging, and the food is very good. I would recommend this place any day.

Everything was good. Only downfall is there are no servers outside and indoor space is minimal. There are some games to keep the kids entertained while the parents enjoy lunch/dinner with friends. I would recommend. read more

This is very cool place to go, you can watch sport indoor and enjoy drink or they have outside seating with arcade games for kids and you can also bring dog. I got 4 sliders and burger with fries and tater tot and everything tastes good. The meat in the slider is moist abs still a little pink inside.
