    Classic burger

We love coming to this restaurant that has classic American staple food that is served warm. Always a spot at the bar to enjoy a cold beer.

On our way to Viejas we stopped by to eat here randomly. Friendly service and food was great! I got the prime rib dip and it was so good. Great flavor and good portions. The Mac salad that came with it was one of my favorites. The pork ribs were also very good and they give you a lot! My wife had the salad with steak on top and she also enjoyed it. We want to try to come here often when we visit the area.

Loved the dated outside look of the place. Then the inside provided a nice clean atmosphere. Service was great and attentive. Food was bomb.. This salad was off the chain. Show up here when you're hungry in alpine!

What a fun and interesting atmosphere this place is! Old school tavern set with a mishmash of furnishings and eclectic things hanging from the ceiling and mounted on the walls. You literally feel like you back in time. Good selection of local beers and quite the diverse choices of food, ranging from delicious looking salads to burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, and bbq. The kids menu went beyond the normal mini stuff to include ribs of all things. I had the jalapeño burger which included the usual lettuce and tomato's type stuff and a layer of battered and fried jalapeños. Add some secret sauce and a medium cooked Pattie and you got yourself a good burger. The dish included choice of sides and I opted for rings. Enter and nice cold 22 ounce Alpine Duet IPA and I was one happy boy. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars was the slow service. I will say in their defense that the 6 servers working the restaurant that Saturday afternoon were all very busy, lots of people to take care of. I can't wait to go back and explore the menu a bit more.

We've made a habit of stopping here often when we're headed by. All of the servers and bartenders have been overtly friendly and helpful. And the food is to die for. Never had a bad meal there. This time the French dip, garlic fries, and the patty melt and tots were all delicious as usual and were served with ranch and a spicy aioli. The tavern was built in 1890 making it 135 years in 2025. Very cozy space with a wood fire place. We always sit at the bar as well.

I enjoyed this small bar in Alpine. Very cold beer. The potato skins came in a huge bowl. Prices are a bit up there for food but it is a nice small town bar with friendly staff. I'd come back.

Tavern has some new menu items. Thought that I would share an update. Everything is always so good. Wish I got pictures of my food

    Asian chicken salad

Carne asada fries great tasting. Meat was tender ( great plus - most are chewy). Good amount of cheese. Nice size . Could easily feed 2 people . Definitely a great appetizer. Asian chicken salad good dressing large amount. Could be shared by 2 people. Service was polite and attentive. Alpine Tavern & Grill has an old time west feel. Seat yourself with bar in front. Does have a family atmosphere. Loved by locals tucked neatly next to Janets Montana cafe. Definitely an Alpine goto for dinning. Only take away is bring a coat if you are seated in lower level can be a bit chilly.

I recently started working in Alpine so I'm branching out and trying local spots for dinners. Last week my husband met me after work and we decided to try Alpine Tavern and Grill. Parking was a bit of an issue. The lot is small but we found parking on the street. When you walk in you are instantly transported to another place. The outside is unassuming . But the inside is quaint, reminded me of a Disney tavern. There's a tree growing in the middle? I order the blue cheese burger and it was so good! The onion rings were too. My husband had the patty melt which was huge. The service was great. The place seems small but it looked like there might be additional rooms in the back.

Really nice town and very good atmosphere. Food and portions were great, staff were friendly and attentive. Shanoah was very helpful and attentive. Definitely a good place to stop.

The MELENZANE RIPIENE (eggplant stuffed with ricotta, parmesan, and cherry tomatoes) was incredible: rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The calamari fritti was crispy and delicious, and the TONNO ASIATICO (seared ahi tuna with sweet chili glaze, ginger, teriyaki, and wasabi) was a huge hit at the table. We also had to try their house-made mozzarella sticks, don't skip these...the cheese pull alone is worth it For the mains, we had the CAPELLINI ALLA CHECCA and the RIGATONI ALLA NORMA, and both were fantastic. You can really taste the difference, the pasta is imported from Italy, and it shows in the texture and flavor. My husband also ordered the margherita pizza and said it's the best he's ever had, which says a lot! The space itself is big, welcoming, and super versatile. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, plus a large bar with a full menu. We tried a couple drinks from their spring menu: the pistachio espresso martini and the berry margarita both were so fun and tasty. The staff was also incredibly friendly and attentive, which really made the whole experience even better. Bonus: they have a great family-friendly area with arcade games and a pool table, which makes it perfect whether you're going out as a couple or with a group. My experience yesterday evening was absolutely opposite. We were seated at a large round table in the corner at the front of the restaurant. We were 11 seated at this great round table. It was perfect because we could talk with anyone at the table, and see each other. Our server, Hunter was fantastic! Friendly and while waiting other tables she was able to cater to our needs just as well and as fast. She did have another person checking on us when Hunter was not at our table. I did not get her name. Tonight it was hopping with other gatherings taking place. There are TV's lined along the upper half of the wall with all kinds of sports happening being televised. The room is very open with great outdoor seating off to the side of the restaurant. Looked like comfortable seating too. A few of us ladies order appetizers to share. When the platters arrived they were placed on the large lazy Susan in the middle of the table. Appetizers shared: Sampler plate: Gyoza, Shrimp Tempura, Spring Rolls and Cream Cheese Wontons Meatballs Wings Margherita Flatbread Hummus Flatbread My dinner was: PSH Chicken Penne Pasta My drinks: Espresso Martini and Benoit Dearg "red Beer (Barley & Sword Brewery) Red Ale-Irish My Dessert: Beignets to share and Affogato Appetizers were great. Though I did not get to try the meatballs, I was able to enjoy bites of the sampler plate. With the wings I requested the mild sauces to be off to the side. Thank goodness! They were spicy and I do like spicy food. The windows were nice and crispy! Came with carrots and celery sticks. My Chicken Penne Pasta was delicious. I don't know if it was my imagination but there seem to be some sweetness to the sauce. Maybe wine added? My desserts! The beignets were fresh. The arrived with the look of almost a donut hole. They were piping hot. The bread was light, with a bit of dense texture. Very delicious. My affogato was amazing. If you love coffee this might be for you. I had my first affogato in Italy, this is the 2nd best. The hot espresso mixed into the vanilla ice cream, was heavenly. Both my drinks, Espresso Martini and red beer were both delicious! The martini was very creamy and with the right amount of sweetness. The red beer was mild and very smooth. I would love to return and can't wait to try some of the other beers available as well as the yummy dishes on the menu. Parking is busy in the this busy street mall. And with a kid with celiac, who can get sick for days if a crumb of bread is digested, options are even more limited. We were stoked when the woman at the register pointed out that the bbq and salads were mostly GF (without croutons). And while she did mention there's a chance of cross-contamination with the gluten free pizza, as they make pizzas and there's flour around, she mentioned they change gloves and use clean utensils and have had many celiac folks eat there without issue. Bit we went instead for the most basic and least risky options. Half smoked chicken and a wedge salad. Then I saw the house made pickles. My kid loves pickles. I asked if they were GF. Any seasoning or anything that might contain gluten? She asked the cook and he said no. Gluten free. Which makes sense. They're pickles. Took the order back to the house and the kid went straight for the pickles. I don't have the time to explain how awesome it is when this kid, who's whole outlook on food has been shattered because of the celiac, can have some pickles and not have to think about getting sick. But here we are. From pure joy to anxiety and sadness in two seconds flat. I'm posting this not to bag on this establishment or the people that work there. We know it's a kitchen that serves food and drinks containing gluten. But when I've asked about protocols and tried to do my best to get the info, as well as making it clear that we are trying to be very careful about gluten as it's an allergy, not a preference, and then being reassured that the pickles and the bbq is as safe as they can make it, I was pretty bummed to find a whole freakin crouton in the middle of the container of pickles. Half of which the kid had already happily devoured. We The restaurant industry is not set up for people with food allergies. We know this. We try our best to navigate it by asking questions and getting as much info as possible. There are places that don't even know what celiac is. So we leave. There are places that are extremely knowledgeable about it from front of house to the chef. Those places we can put more trust in. It's never 100%. But fortunately we've had more good experiences than bad with restaurants that take it seriously. I'm sure this was a mistake. Not intentional. Pickles too close to the croutons. I can see how it can happen. All I'm asking is to be better about it. Be aware. Especially when I've asked repeatedly if it's all good and the answer given is yes. Or just tell me it's not safe to eat there for people with celiac and we can be on our way. A lot of restaurants are becoming more aware and offering more GF options. This is great. Lots of people eat gluten free to avoid carbs or because of gluten sensitivity. Celiac is another level. And a painful one at that. We appreciate and love going to eat food at places that take it seriously. Hoping for more of those places in the future. Julian Beer Co. we love you, but take note.
