The staff were very friendly especially the bartender that was serving us! Good food and rinks and prices for some items were very reasonable especially for the drinks. Only thing I didn't like was for the buffalo chicken fries, there wasn't really a lot of pieces of chicken. Plenty of TVs to watch any sporting event. Will definitely be back to try more items and watch Padres games.

Nice little spot! Plenty of TVs and indoor seating, with a sports bar environment. Menu is large with a lot to choose from. The jalapeño mozzarella sticks were fantastic! The jalapeno was the perfect amount a heat and they were so cheesy and delicious! The fries are so good and super crunchy! The taco salad was just okay to me, the ingredients were fresh and tasty but I wasn't a fan of the meat as it tasted like something you'd get at Taco Bell. The chips that came with it were great though! Service was fast and friendly. Parking can be a challenge to find but overall this was a nice pit stop for lunch.

This bar and grill located in the heart of downtown La Mesa offers a full bar, pub eats, and plenty of big screen TVs for sports enthusiasts. I've stopped in for drinks throughout the years, but I finally tried some of their food the other night. We ordered the patty melt and wings to share between the two of us. The patty melt was decent, and the buffalo wings had a good kick. Service was a bit slow but it looked like only two cooks were behind the grill. I'm marking it "A-OK" in my book.

What a great find in Downtown La Mesa! I was at the La Mesa Market on a hot Saturday with the girl gang, and we needed a cool spot to escape the heat. We were so relieved to walk into this place and feel the refreshing blast of air conditioning! Already a win! It was my first visit, and things started off strong. A server promptly greeted us, handed out menus, and got our drinks going. My friends ordered the blue cheese burger with fries and the cheeseburger with fries. I went for the hickory bacon burger with onion rings. Everything was delicious; the burgers were juicy, and the fries and onion rings were perfectly crisp. I wanted to try the La Mesa Tiki Tok, but unfortunately, they were out of White Claw. Bit of a bummer, but I switched to the Cali Cream Nitro Brew, and my friend had the Guinness. Both were ice cold and hit the spot. My only suggestion would be to create a proper beer menu; maybe even one with pictures. We had to ask for a list, and while the staff was super nice and printed a receipt-style list for us, a visual menu would really enhance the experience. All in all, this was a fantastic visit. Great food, chill vibes, and friendly service. We'll definitely be back!

I've been spending a lot of time out in La Mesa and I wanted to try one of the other restaurants, but they were between lunch and dinner and we couldn't get out onto the patio. So I had wanted to try Johnny B's and it was a good choice to go to! One of my friends had been before so I just followed his lead, and we went through the front and into the back patio. This was great cause there was not one around and Cako could just be herself. Sommer came out and greeted us with menus and was very nice to Cako. When she came back to take our order, she brought out a treat for Cako. Now she just watched to see when she was coming back...LOL! I got the Royal which is two smashed burgers and American cheese. I added bacon and a house salad instead of the usual fries. Daveed ordered the cheeseburger with nice crispy fries and added bacon too. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough 1000 Island dressing on mine, but that was minor. Next time I'll ask for extra! The burgers came out at a reasonable time and were really good. I liked that it wasn't a small wimpy salad like some places, and the burger was cooked perfectly medium well. Daveed enjoyed his too and there were plenty of fries to share, so I got some. I'm trying to watch my girlish figure...LOL! It was a very pleasant afternoon to be out on their patio. It was the end of Sommer's shift, but Ashley was great who took over for her. Great place to come to! Cako Approves!

The dog on the chair and it's water on the table. Guy on the left blocking a table in front of him and the table next to him.

We arrived at the venue at around 5:10 PM on July 6th to watch the World Cup match. We went to the patio but couldn't get a table because an inconsiderate guy was using one merely to hold his drink while blocking in the way; he was chatting with a couple at another table and blocking a third table located right in front of the TV to prevent anyone else from sitting in front of him. So, we sat at the round table with the central fire pit, but a few minutes later the waitress asked us to move to a smaller table because they needed to keep that one available in case a large group arrived for a meal. We completely understood and moved. Later, a man arrived with his dog and tried to sit at the table we had originally attempted to use, but the inconsiderate guy wouldn't let him, so he sat at the large table with the fire pit. A waitress came over, treated him and the dog very well, and then brought a piece of meat, feeding it directly into the dog's mouth with her bare hands. Another waiter saw the situation and did nothing; another waitress also saw it and did nothing (keep in mind that, during this time, the two tables the inconsiderate guy was blocking, as well as other tables on the opposite side, were available for the staff to ask the man to seat with the dog). A group of three young women also arrived and seemed to want to sit at one of the tables the inconsiderate guy was blocking. The dog was also sitting on the chair and drinking water from the tabletop, not the floor, in violation of the rules posted on the wall. We watched this absurd situation unfold, and NO, at no point did anyone ask him to leave that table or put the dog and its water on the ground. Everything was so wrong and no one was doing anything about it, yet they treated the guy and the dog much better than us. We had the distinct impression that the dog was receiving better care and attention from the staff than we were. I didn't want to have to write this. I rarely post reviews, but this situation is important because the staff's lack of effort to make us feel better after we expressed our disappointment is simply unbelievable. They really didn't care at all. They just apologized but did nothing to show they cared. In fact, their attitude implied that we were wrong for complaining. We felt genuinely offended at being treated with less dignity than a dog. This is unacceptable, not to mention the serious hygiene issue. If the staff saw that dog and didn't care, what level of hygiene should we expect from the kitchen, where customers aren't looking? We have nothing against pets, but we understand where they belong. If the owner wants to treat the animal like a human being at home that's their business; however, in a public place, one must respect others, and it is the staff's duty to intervene if the rules are broken. What is the point of having rules if they are ignored? If you cannot manage it, do not accept dogs. But if you want to keep accepting dogs no matter what, you just lost both of us as customers, plus people around us that we will make sure they know how you treat dogs x people. In the end, we didn't know who annoyed us more: the inconsiderate individual, the man with the dog, or the venue's staff. All in all, we feel deeply saddened by a world where pets are treated better than human beings and people are losing empathy for their fellow humans. We didn't go only to watch the game. The had meals and drinks, but unfortunately we couldn't enjoy either the meal or the game. The others had good time though (including the dog).

We've been loyal customers of Johnny B's for years--it's our go-to spot for dinners with friends and family. This year, we decided to host our Fantasy Football draft there and even named it "Johnny B's VIPs," because it just felt right! As always, everything was amazing. Diana was fantastic to work with--she let me decorate, offered helpful suggestions on the menu and timing, and made the planning process so easy. Our server, Jennifer, went above and beyond. She was patient, attentive, and had such a great attitude--the kind of service every event planner hopes for. Johnny B's never disappoints, and we're already looking forward to coming back for dinner next week!

We've been here a few times meeting friends for lunch. We love their burgers and fries. We always ask for extra crispy fries and it's on point. They have lunch specials during the week and it's a bargain in today's market. We sat inside and enjoyed their TV's. It's not terribly loud so you can still chat with your friends. They also have outdoor seating as well. Our waitress was awesome. She took our order promptly and checked in on us. Our drinks were refilled as needed. This place seemed like a lot of loyal repeat customers. We felt welcomed. Overall, a nice place for food and watch a ballgame! Come catch up with friends. Parking is street parking with meters. If you're a local, you might know where and when to come. We had to walk a little due to a lunch crowd!!

Ambiance is dark , brewery type inside , bar type seating outside. We decided on this place when we went to the La Mesa Car show . It started out well , grabbed a menu from inside , our waitress bring us drinks , sun was shining , cars driving by .. then it wasn't great . We had my 8 year old grandson with us and figured food shouldn't be that long ... well it was ridiculously long . Over an hour to get a kids burger and one burger and fries . We were about to leave , I told the waitress I wanted the check and bam .. all of a sudden our food was ready . Food was okay .. not worth the wait , sun was down , wee were cold and not many cars left at this point to watch . We definitely will not eat here again ... I could have drive thru a fast food , received a similar burger , paid less and drive back before the food would've been ready ...

My boyfriend loved the salad and loved the pairing of the greens, goat cheese, and walnuts together. Parking is a nightmare good luck finding parking within a mile of the restaurant. Pros: atmosphere, drinks, service Cons: food wasn't great for the price, restaurant was small and crowded, no parking Service: All of our servers were friendly and very accommodating. Gave us some knowledge on the menu and recommended cocktails based on our preference. I had spilled my drink and they were quick to make me another one. Food: I had intended to get the prime ribeye cap steak but they ran out for the night around 8pm. I shared the steak sampler which came with four different cuts of steak and 4 sauces. I ordered medium and it was cooked medium/medium rare which was fine with me, it also had a good sear, almost burnt though. Out of the four steaks, we only liked two based off flavor and tenderness. The other two were more tough and gamey. None of the sauces really stood out but the bordelaise and horseradish were good. For our sides we got fries, roasted broccoli, and the grilled wedge salad. Fries were average. The roasted broccoli had really good flavor, I expected the broccoli to be al dente but it was cooked to mush and drenched in sauce. The grilled wedge salad was decent, there was a slightly bitter taste to it. I know it says grilled wedge but the experience of biting into the salad and it being both hot and cold was not pleasant. Cocktails: I tried the Honey Ryder and New Wave. These were recommended as the more fruity/sweet cocktails. You can definitely taste the alcohol but it's only 2oz so it's not too strong. Ambience: 10/10 I got seated downstairs by the bar. Only thing about downstairs is that it's too dark to take photos unless you use flash. From the start, Alex made the experience memorable. You can tell when someone genuinely loves the food they're serving, and his enthusiasm was contagious. Every recommendation came with thoughtful details, and honestly, he didn't steer us wrong. His top recommendation was the Oxtail Tetelas, and wow! This ended up being my favorite dish of the night. The sauce was absolutely incredible, rich and flavorful without overpowering the dish, and every ingredient worked together perfectly. As someone who has never considered Mexican cuisine my go-to choice, this dish completely changed my perspective. It was comforting, creative, and packed with flavor in all the right ways. My husband ordered the tuna empanadas, which were being made fresh at the time, and after stealing a few bites (as any good spouse does), I can confirm they were equally delicious. Fresh, light, and beautifully prepared. For drinks, I went with the Verde Zero Proof. It wasn't my usual flavor profile and had a bit more spice than my taste buds typically enjoy, but that's more of a "me" problem than a criticism. If you enjoy a little kick in your drinks, you'll probably appreciate it much more than I did. The restaurant itself has that cozy hole-in-the-wall charm that makes you feel like you've discovered a hidden gem. The vintage decor creates a warm atmosphere that's perfect for date night, and as dog parents, we especially appreciated that the place is dog-friendly. Everything is so clean but it has a very good rustic and real feel to it. The drinks here are my favorite because to be honest, I'm a sours beer kind of guy and they have a whole building dedicated to it. The amount of variety when it comes to sours is great a prices are fair. Flavors pop but theirs also a good enough selection if you want a more chill sour that won't punch you in the face. The other building (not sure which is considered the main ones) has a large selection of your typical IPAs, lagers, you name it. The flavors are good and they seems to have some deals going on from time to time for cans to take home which I can appreciate. They also have a few board games to keep you entertained and seem to consistently have some options fora food vendor as well as many times having live music. Definitely worth the visit on a day you see them having one of these vendors or live bands you may be interested in. The people here seem to be very friendly with their regulars and greet you as if you're a friend. I think this bodes well with breweries considering you're usually here to have a good time and chill. I wouldn't say it feels like the reason I'd come back at all but no complaints here. Just didn't feel like out of this world service by any means.

There are rotating food trucks that come through and the outdoor patio is a great place for families with young children as well as a space to gather and listen to live music. They also have a whole cider house with sours and such so it's an awesome way to spend an afternoon in sunny La Mesa. You really can't go wrong with any of their beers, they're ice cold and the pricing is very reasonable and there's a huge variety. The day we visited, we also took advantage of the burgers from the food truck and they were very good!
