Fun place but a bit small. Came on a night they were holding a magic the gathering event. They still had the space open to the public but it was a bit crowded and some of the games were blocked by the tables they set out. Being my first time there I was surprised how small it was. One side is mostly seating and an outdoor patio. The other side is where all the games are. A serve yourself drinks wall fills up most of the middle space. You get a game card which contains tokens that you can use for the games. I had fun playing the games. They have some traditional ones like pac man and pinball but some newer ones as well. Such a cool spot! Their self-serve beer station is one of my favorite things--you can try whatever you want, pour a little, and switch it up until you find your favorite. The chocolate espresso one is SO good. It's a smaller place, but they did a great job designing it so it never feels crowded or cramped. We were greeted by the front counter staff and he explained how everything worked. I got the lime crisis drink; it was decent. They have classic arcade games here like Frogger Pong, Super Mario and pinball. There are a few newer games like a version of beer pong, Halo, Mario Kart and 4-person Pacman. We played every game within an hour and felt a bit bored after that. I'd love to see a Dance Dance Revolution game here! The plethora of beers, hard seltzers and ciders on tap looked like an expansive collection. There was something here for everyone. They even had a chocolate espresso martini on tap. I didn't drink but those in my party enjoyed every sip and got a good buzz goin. This is a fun date spot. I went here with my wife on a Saturday afternoon. They have free games before 6. We got some beverages and played some games. I loved the pin ball machine, doing the race car or motorcycle games against my wife (despite losing) and playing pac man was my favorite. All in all, a great experience. I love the way you can choose from multiple beers on tap and there are convenient cup holders for your drink by all the games. It's a fun way to spend the day. They allow you to order food from a local pizza place which is nice, but I found the prices extremely expensive from it. It's a great gathering space and the set up is definitely stand out. There's a big storage container in the center that houses all of the taps. As you walk around the container, you can find a bunch of different beer options along with a few ciders and kombuchas. You scan a card to pay by the ounce, so you can get as little or as much as you want. Behind the container, there is a wall full of different arcade games. We held our company holiday party at Coin Haus in La Mesa. It turned out to be areally cool venue. We had the entire place to ourselves for 3.5 hours and it was a blast. Coin Haus is one of those places where you load a card with money then use the card to pay for drinks and games. It is pour your own beer. They have 50 taps of beer, seltzer, kombucha, wine, even cold pressed coffee. Something for everyone. The games are super cool. Old school arcade video games and pinball machines, hoop shoots. Becky and I played beer pong LOL. Coin Haus has no in-house food, but they collaborate with their neighbor Surfrider Pizza and offer the full menu. For our party we enjoyed a variety of pizzas, wings, salads, spinach dip with crostini's for dipping. I very much enjoyed the meatballs in marinara with the garlic knots. It was all very good. They don't really have a lot of room to lay all of the food out, so it did get a little congested around the food tables. Other than that minor issue, Coin Haus is a great spot for a group gathering. It's a very small spot to drink and play arcade games, but is very unique with its self-serve tap system. You use a card to pour your drinks and at the end of your visit, you pay your tab (prices per ounce depends on what drink you get). I took my brother here for his 21st birthday and he loved it. He has autism and doesn't like too much noise but loves people and games. 5/5 beer and vibes! It is located on one end of Allison Ave near downtown La Mesa, with a parking lot and lots of street parking next to it (metered but free after 6pm and on Sundays). They have an awesome self serve system where your credit card is connected to a drink and game card. For the drinks, you place your card on the ledge over the tap you want and start pouring! I love this concept because you pay what you drink, and I personally don't drink a lot! And you could try a little bit of any drink you want. I didn't have a chance to play games but I will definitely return to do so! I was very impressed with their large selection of beer, and they have other drinks too like margaritas and seltzer. My personal favorite was the blueberry cider called Bludacris from Newtopia Cyder. It was super flavorful! Other favorites where the California Honey Ale from Pizza Port, and Fest Bier from Societe. They have all different types of beer for everyone! I like more fruity or lighter beers (not IPAs) and I found there was pleanty of options for me. My group went on a Tuesday night which we discovered to be a trivia night, which is part of an 18 week run. Looks like a lot of people participate, there were 10 groups when we went. Coin Haus offers a plethora of amazing alcohol types so if you fancy beer, wine, or seltzers they've got your covered. As well as some retro/modern games to enjoy while you get wasted (drink responsibly). Catch me on the sticks of NBA Jam! The deal with this place is you pay per ounce of alcohol poured through a "charge card" that they provide. It can get really add up because each tap varies depending on what they hold. This card can also be used to pay for the arcade games as well. Food-wise they offer snacks and a few items from Bo+Beau's menu, like flatbreads. If you're full on hungry there are various eateries within walking distance, R.I.P La Torta. Not sure how often they update their taps but Iwould attend at least once a month hoping they've updated their selection to discover new favorites. I think a bigger space would definitely help them with adding more multiplayer games and space out their tables and shipping container of beer as it gets tight in some areas when it's busy.
