this experience was an extreme disappointed to say the least. My brother got a burger and they were out of brioche burger buns. they offered to substitute with lettuce but refused to substitute woth a sour dough. i ended up getting a filet migon cooked at medium. Let me just start by saying we came in here with very high hopes. Started off with the "tomato and fennel soup" very thick, and unflavored. Could easily compare it to a jar a marinara sauce. Way too acidic, and I really like tomato soup. Could not finish the bowl. Next we got the "sticky chicken wings" very delicious , but 5 wings for $16 is beyond unreasonable. For an entree we got the "idiot sandwich" and "truffle fries". The quality of the sandwich was also not worth the $26. The bottom of our sandwich was soggy, and had to be eaten with a fork and knife. Truffle fries and truffle aioli was good. Service and atmosphere was very good. But there are many places in Naperville that have better quality food for a better price. All of our food was not served hot except for the wings. For the price we paid for the food we got we would not come back. read more

We had a reservation for seven and were seated in the back room adjacent to the main restaurant. The location was great because it was semi-private with the curtain pulled. However, it was freezing in there. We had to run to the car to get sweaters and the rest wore their coats. It was even cold with our winter wear on. I understand there is a door back there, but they should have space heaters or heat lamps. Also, the drinks took over 20 minutes to arrive after they were ordered. The appetizers actually came right after we got the cocktails. That being said... I'm still giving this 4 stars because the food was incredible! I have no complaints regarding the food. Our server was great, too. We will definitely be back, but request a table in the front or go back in warmer weather. read more

Just celebrated myself, my husband and my sons birthday. We're all March babies at Ramsey's kitchen. Big thanks to the staff, Adam and Shelly at the restaurant they did an awesome job explaining the specials and making great recommendations. Please read this review from start to finish. I wanted to love Ramsays Kitchen so much but there were problems that I can't ignore. I went on my birthday and made reservations the day they opened up. We started with the Parker Rolls which where phenomenal except for my dad pulled a hair out of his. We didn't tell our waiter because my dad didn't want to make a fuss. For entrees I ordered the scallops with carrots and they were cooked perfectly and seasoned well, with the carrots being perfect. The fish and chips where HUGE and equally delicious. Then when my cousins chicken Milanese came to the table in the very first bite of food my cousins found another hair in his food. This time we could not ignore it and let our waiter know. They brought out a new plate right away and the manager apologized which we appreciated. Our waiter was amazing through all this and gave me a dessert for free. All would have been made right by this and I wouldn't have written this review except when it came to the bill we were billed for TWO chicken Milanese, when we told the waiter he immediately took one off but at this point I don't think we should have paid for either with how much error their was with this dinner. I guess my expectations were too high because of the celebrity chef association. The service was slow. Aversion in my party had to ask three times for his coke. No attention to detail . I had food spilled on the table, and the server just put a plate over the spill until I asked him if he could wipe the table. Waitng for wine took forever. Our experience at Ramsay's Kitchen was good but not great unfortunately. We had an issue with one of the dishes that we had to return it and we were charged for the returned dish. I got to say that the service was very good and the ambiance was nice. The dishes were ranging from espectacular to average. Will me and my family return? ... Yes and a second chance to try some other dishes. One thing for sure ... Mr. Ramsey would have yelled and made a big deal from the issue of the returned dish (foreign organic non-eatable thing). read more

Very delightful restaurant. Waitstaff was great. Food was a bit of a disappointment. We started with the carrots (which were a bit undercooked) and the truffle fries. They were both ok. My husband and I both ordered the Sat special of Shepherds Pie. It was good, but I got tired of it. I only ate half of it. The side was three cauliflower pieces which was too much like the potatoes on the pie. I would have liked to see something green. I really wanted to like Ramsay's Kitchen but there were just too many issues. After being open for 4-5 months, some of these things should have been ironed out by now. We were asked multiple times about dietary restrictions and if there were any celebrations before arriving. Upon arrival it seemed no one noted the dietary restrictions or birthday celebration. It took over an hour for any food to come out. The kitchen sent out wrong items and the server didn't catch it. Then didn't know if they should take it back or not. The menu doesn't offer any dairy-free dessert options. It was cold and drafty by the windows and revolving door in the back so we were cold through the entire meal. Kind of surprised we were sat in a boring drafty corner of the restaurant when it was a birthday dinner, which was noted when making the reservation and during confirmation of reservation so it's not like they didn't know. The server rushed our dinner and pushed a plate away from my companion who was actively eating in order to put a dessert in front of them that they couldn't eat due to dietary restrictions. They also cleared plates that still had food on them before we were all finished. The floor is slick with grease and I almost slipped walking to the far back corner where our table was. It was so notable that our table had a conversation about how slick the floor was. For the price point and the name on the restaurant I was surprised at how many issues there were with both front and back of house. Will not be returning. read more

Exceeded all our expectations. We made reservations about two months in advance. We went in a Saturday at 7pm (there was plenty of Beef Wellington left to be had). We wore "dressy jeans": sweaters/blouse + blazer and were of the more dressed up patrons. We went with our 9 year old. We had 4 drinks, 1 appetizer, soup/salad, 3 entrees, 1 side, 1 dessert and with 20% tip spent $400. Parker Rolls: Fine, but i wouldn't do again. There's an egg wash and on the rolls that was overpowering. Ale & onion soup: my son loved it. line french onion without the cheese. Wedge salad: get the half size, it's still huge. Harvest salad: again, half size is plenty. Beef Wellington: exceeded the hype. Crispy skin salmon: perfection. Hours later I still can't believe how good this dish was. Truffle fries: Possibly even better than our delicious entrees. Thick cut and well seasoned, served with ketchup and aioli. Sticky pudding: we were fighting over bites. That's all you need to know. Would happily go again, the only thing putting a delay on our next visit being the price. But we'll worry every penny. All around fun, friendly and well paced service. read more

Well done, Gordon Ramsay. It's nice to have another high-end restaurant in downtown Naperville. I did have to make reservations about a month out as they are still in high demand. The interior is very hip and modern. Could use some brighter lighting in the front but not too big a deal. The food was all very good. We started with the wings and Parker rolls. Both were delicious. The star for me was the beef Wellington for sure. I was initially concerned about having to get it medium rare as I'm more of a medium person but I'm glad I didn't let that stop me. It was absolutely perfect. The cheesecake for dessert was also very good. Everyone else enjoyed their entrees however my husband did say the Brussel sprouts were overdone and almost burnt. I also must say service was pretty slow, especially for 8pm on a week night. We were seated nearly an hour before we even got our appetizers. Hopefully that resolves with time, but it won't deter us from coming back. read more

Went here to enjoy a holidays meal and while everything was delicious, I'll never return based on their sales tactics. Our server was nice enough, but offered us a risotto special that came with lobster, shrimp, and scallops. Sounded wonderful, which it was, and after viewing on the menu that the shrimp and lobster spaghetti entree was $32 I assumed it was in the same ballpark in price. Wrooonnggg. When I got the bill it was almost $100 for it! The way it was presented on the bill it wasn't even a special, more like something the server made up to jack up the tab. It was listed as "risotto" add shrimp x3, add scallops x2, and add lobster tail. Again, bringing the total to almost $100 for a single dish. This dude is basically a la carting a seafood tower and throwing it on top of risotto and calling it a special. Really poor sales tactics. Used car feel. It was good food and otherwise a good experience. But won't be going back because of this. read more

We were seated as soon as all 4 members of our party arrived. I noticed that women wore dresses, blue jeans or shorts. Men wore anything from shorts to trousers with a coat and everything in between. Decorations were minimal. Windows surround the kitchen so we could see the kitchen staff at work. Although reservations were tight, there were four tables around us that remained empty for 30 or 40 minutes. When those tables filled, it became clear that something should be done for noise abatement .... It was TOO LOUD! We ordered the Beef Wellington, a salad, Mac & Cheese, (and an Old Fashioned while we waited for dinner). My wife and I shared an order of cheesecake after dinner. I laughed at my wife for ordering the Mac & Cheese, but it was the best I ever tasted! We took home half the Beef Wellington and half the Mac & cheese. Everything was good... even the Old Fashioned.... Our server tried, but had only been on the floor for three days since this restaurant is new. I suppose that's why it took her three tries to get our bill right; and I suppose that may be why we had to ask twice for lemons for our water and for a Coke. All in all, we had a good time and would return. I wonder if my wife would share a Beef Wellington with me next time....? read more

Here on the second day of being open so I went knowing there might still be some kinks to be worked out on such a new restaurant. Pros: Very nice people working here, especially John (floor manager?). Reservation for 7pm and seated promptly. Cool vibe, minimalist. Lots of white subway tile. Neat to see the open kitchen. Split a wedge salad to start. It was excellent and nice big chunks of bacon on it. Girlfriend had a burger and said it was good. My Bahn Mi was great. Lots of chicken and nicely cooked and seasoned. Cons. Expensive, but that would be fine if they executed on everything perfectly. We each upgraded to the truffle fries and they were warm at best. I fear our fries sat for a while before being served. Disappointing, bet they are great when fresh and hot. Service for anything took a really long time. Drinks. Appetizer, and especially dinner. We were seated at 7 and didn't finish til 9:15 (and we didn't even have dessert!). Drinks are expensive too and $16 for a glass of Daou Cab is tough, but even worse when the pour is about 4 oz or less. I know a proper 5oz pour and that wasn't it. On balance we had a nice time, but the value to price was pretty low. read more

honestly i was expecting small portions and high prices but i was pleasantly surprised !! potions were great and taste was impeccable. i got the chicken milanese and it was served beautifully with great flavors. the rolls are a must for the table!!! i also got a chance to try the fish and chips they were delicious. the rk burger was mid. truffle fries were good but i feel like they could've used more parmesan. mac and cheese was also mid. for dessert we got the cheesecake which was great. service was great out waiter was considerate and friendly. read more

The food is excellent, my scallops were perfectly cooked, my brother had the ribeye and it was buttery and perfectly seared. The sticky toffee pudding is delicious and my mother loved it for her birthday. The salads are done meticulously and the soft boiled egg on my Caesar was done perfectly which is rare around here. Our server Nico was friendly and helpful, I had researched the menu ahead of time but if you haven't they will tell you about everything. My only complaint is that I really wanted to try the Wellington and it is only after 5. Will definitely come back for that. read more

I took a friend there to celebrate her birthday. The food was absolutely amazing and a good variety for whatever mood you are in. We started with the chicken wings -amazing best I have ever had. Then truffle fries and twisted carrots to share, both were very very good!! I had the scallops - so good, cooked to perfection. My friend has chicken melanaze which was very good and a large portion -half was taken home. We finished with the fantastic toffee pudding - a must try. We had the cheese cake which was ok -a little dense. And the chef surprised us with a chocolate tart which was rich and creamy chocolate deliciousness. The whole experience was iconic. From the decor, music, ambiance, service, food, cocktails, the whole vibe of Ramsay's Kitchen is like no where else. Naperville needed Ramsay's Kitchen, and it is here to stay. My husband and I were elevated by the experience. It's not just one thing, it is the combination of everything and the attention to detail, every detail. Our server Tanya made the night unforgettable. We shared the Jumbo Lump crab cake for the first course. It was so delicious, the salad and the citrus wedges were so fresh. It is almost indescribable, your palette will dance with delight. Next, we both tried the British Ale and onion soup. A milder onion flavor but elevated by fresh chives and the cheese covered crostini- mwah! we have never had anything else like it. For the main course, we both ordered the Beef Wellington and added scallops. Absolutely divine. We had the asparagus to share and it was perfectly cooked and I felt like it was spring in December. Again, you have to taste it, every single bite was melt in your mouth amazing. We had no room for dessert but ordered the sticky toffee pudding to go so we can still try another signature dish from Gordon. Yeah, today was our first visit to Brenda Ramsay's kitchen in Naperville Illinois. It was a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in till the moment we walked out we had a wonderful server. Her name was Shannon. She greeted us, welcomed us and answered all of her questions and made her recommendations , she was very helpful and very proud of working for Gordon Ramsay. She loved the restaurant and she loved her job that was very apparent. Our food was delicious. I had the scallops in the Apricot purée with the pork belly. Husband had the fish that he said was the best he's ever had it was haddock with the tempura coating. We shared brussels sprouts were delicious. We had a ice cream with caramel sauce, and that ended a wonderful meal along with a cup of coffee I highly recommend the experience, it was great. We waited two months for our reservation can say it was worth it every time. The restaurant itself was very clean things like carrots take him to work. read more

I'm a big Master Chef fan, so I had high expectations for this restaurant. Those expectations were more than met! I took my mom for her 83rd Birthday - accessible parking at the rear, nice accessible entrance. Hostess met us at the back and let us choose a great table. The food was spectacular, we already have dishes picked out for our next visit. We had Parker Rolls - were good but actually mom's are better. Beef Wellington - AMAZING- perfect and all the elements on the plate were delicious. Steak Diane - delicious, perfect cook and the sauce was so tasty. We couldn't pick which was better. Excellent meat. The harissa carrots were out of this world. Mom had the Eton Mess and it was yummy. The star of the show? The sticky toffee pudding. I've been disappointed in sticky toffee pudding lately at other restaurants and have actually taken to making my own (and doing it pretty well). So, I am a harsh judge of this particular dish. You got me Gordon, you got me. It was spectacular - never had better. Great service (shout out to Shelley- perfect server). Only criticism is that it is pretty loud. This place is a great American-style restaurant that feels like an elevated British pub. I think where the concept goes wrong is this is fine dining made accessible with a man whose name is synonymous with perfectionism. It brings a certain expectation to the quality of ingredients and service provided. This is the same feel as a TGI Fridays if they had better wine, which leads to the same caliber of staff. This likely comes from the fact that the expectation on the name is likely crushing them with improper compensation from the low bills. Dining here tonight, we had several issues. During the wine service, the wine wasn't offered for tasting, and after being told the Riesling was dry, it was sweet. We kept it because some liked it, but the birthday girl didn't, and it seemed like a problem they didn't necessarily want to fix. It's also off-putting that they don't do drinks/apps/mains/desserts and have decided to do drinks/apps, mains/desserts. I understand it's about coursing, but that is usually the server's job. Not surprising, a BOH chef would take this responsibility away from servers, but I think it's a mistake. We had cold fries come out next to piping hot ones as well. Although we were there 30 minutes after close, we felt like the welcome ended at 9:00 sharp. The quality shows in the food as well, which ultimately is genuinely good. This is exactly what I would expect from the many famous chains in American dining today. But fine dining it is not. This should be treated as a more casual spot, and you will have a quality meal. I truly believe it would've been better to have higher quality for the prices. I would like to see a bit more attention to detail from the staff, but I understand why they aren't motivated to provide it. This is a quality restaurant whose biggest asset is also its greatest liability: the brand of Gordon Ramsay. read more

I got the butter chicken which was mediocre and the rice was UNDERCOOKED. My friend's rice with her salmon was also "crunchy." Cooking rice correctly is a basic kitchen skill.
