They have a fairly decent menu with a lot of options so it's good for people from all walks of life. It's located smack dab in the middle of Williamsburg so it's a little hard to get to if you don't already live in the area. The service was great. The staff was very accommodating to our group. I was walking around Williamsburg and decided to stop in. They were so happy and friendly and I was taken care of immediately. I ordered the gyoza and the curry and omg, everything was so good. Had after dinner meal here a few days ago. I've been to a few other Setagaya locations before and they weren't such a great experiences. I think it has been already some 4-5 years since last at Setagaya. It's my first visit at this location since a few other Setagayas had closed. Ramens itself surprisingly improved very much with great smell and taste with Tonkotsu soup. Also Tsukemen's dipping sauce was excellent, They now cooked right for the noodle firmness. We ordered three kinds but couldn't eat more since we were already after dinner that night. I am eager to comeback soon to try more selection and I need to come this time hungry. read more

Came here because when we were walking by saw a sign for $18 unlimited beer/sake after 8 so we came in and it was awesome! It is really bottomless and we didn't feel rushed at all, the food we got was also awesome, we got basically every app to share since we were a group of 6 and then a few ramens and everything I would get again. The ramen game in Brooklyn is alive and well, and Setagaya has been one of Williamsburg's most reliable options for nearly a decade. Unlike much of the competition within the borough, Setagaya is far more casual than fancy, which is why I think they've done so well for so long. When crowded, it's most definitely cramped quarters. The layout is such that it works best for solo dining and dates, but group gatherings aren't impossible without a little patience. I realize that takeout is big, but when it comes to ramen it's always best to eat it in-house. I feel most of their ramen variety is a good mix for all different cravings and palates. I'm usually most aligned with their black garlic and spicy tonkotsu. I really appreciate they have tsukemen as an option and their all-star ramen is always a popular choice. The broth has its good and bad days, but I would say its consistent overall, and I love their nearly perfect soft boiled eggs each time. Like any good ramen shop, they also have a variety of small plate appetizers. They have all been just okay, without many standouts. Their karaage buns are very average overall, as is the takoyaki. The gyoza is fine, but not remarkable. Their don bowls, specifically the oyako-don is solid but I am not particularly fond of the poké. I would really just recommend the okonomiyaki at this point. It's hearty and ideal for sharing. The service has always been good to pretty good. They're good about getting people in and out and are friendly overall. The place is a few blocks from the Bedford Ave stop and a 10 min walk from the Metropolitan Ave stop. I would recommend this place for a weekday lunch over a weekend dinner. read more

Looking at the food, we ordered the karaage to share and two bowls of ramen. Karaage was nice and crispy with good flavor, definitely juicy and well marinated. The ramen, tho, could have been a bit more flavorful. I primarily got the saltiness, without much umami depth to it. The eggs also weren't marinaded, which made me a little sad, although not a reason to knock off points. This place serves my favorite ramen in the area. I always get the veggie spicy miso and it's OUTSTANDING. It is so flavorful, love the crumbly tofu and the noodles are cooked perfectly. I have no complaints on the quality of the food!! The only reason why this gets 4 stars and not 5 is because of my experience with the take out. The portion size was significantly smaller but still the same price! When I think of ramen this is the place I want to go. The broth is always savory, the noodles springy, and the contents.... plentiful. The staff is cordial, efficient, and friendly. They'll answer any question you have regarding the menu and will make concessions if possible. The space is clean, simple, yet trendy, and pretty close to what I assume is traditional Japanese ramen dining etiquette (seating arrangements, table settings, etc.) I love the spicy seafood ramen here, and my dining companions enjoyed their selections as well. Ramen Setagaya is a great option if you want a solid bowl of ramen in the heart of Williamsburg. There is typically no wait and service is quick and friendly. There is plenty of seating including large tables for bigger groups. Unfortunately, there is no bar seating for solo eaters but it's not really a problem as I have never seen this place that full, so I don't mind eating by myself. All the toppings including the egg and pork are cooked perfectly. The broth is rich without being salty and the noodles are nice and chewy without being doughy. Busy and popular ramen spot in Williamsburg! Came in around 6 on a Saturday night, waited 20min before being seated. Was excited to see tsukemen on the menu - I haven't had it since being in LA. Great flavor and thick noodles. Black garlic ramen had thinner noodles but still yummy. The sake was a pleasant surprise - if you like sweeter drinks but don't always like plain sake, I recommend the Mio sparkling sake. Reminds me of the Chinese sweet fermented rice flavor. While the individual items that went into the fish were pretty good, especially the nicely made soft boiled egg and the tasty chasiu pieces that were tender, the base broth was rather boring.
