To be fair i wasn't really paying attention when ordering and ordered this particular appetizer as a mistake, raw octopus in alcohol really isnt my cup of tea so can't really give an assessment on this item, kudos to this establishment for offering a really bizarre appetizer though. now onto the ramen. Came here on a rainy cold day, just perfect for a nice hot bowl of ramen. We ordered the spicy miso and the all star ramen. The ramen was mediocre, just what you expect in a ramen. Nice and creamy, not too rich. What we didn't expect was the different sizes of noodles each broth came in. The menu didn't specify the different noodles which was unexpected. My friend and i were looking for a place to pop into for dinner. This place wasnt too busy and they were able to seat us immediately. I know ramen is in their name so ordering ramen my first time here would make the most sense but we werent feeling ramen (90°F outside). It was cooler inside the restaurant but not cool enough to have hot soup. We decided to get one of their rice bowls but it turns out most of their rice bowls only come in the small size. I wanted a full meal so i ordered the curry rice (with chicken) which is the only rice bowl that is available in the large size. My friend wanted the oyako don but that only came as a small so she ordered a side of kara-age. Everything was good! My curry rice came with two pieces of kara-age and they were so flavorful. Setagaya's ramen is so flavorful! I ordered the Veggie Spicy Miso Ramen, which is made with thicker noodles, and it was exactly what I needed that day. The spice level was balanced, though I generally prefer my food on the spicier side. The minced tofu sprinkled on top was tasty and easy to disperse throughout the bowl; I did wish there was more of it, however. Cabbage and scallions were a crunchy complement to the tofu and broth, and the noodles were well-cooked, soft, and chewy. For me, the portion size was ideal - I wasn't still hungry afterwards, nor was there too much to finish in a single meal. Next time, I'll most likely order the same ramen, but I am also interested in trying the other two vegetarian/vegan options at some point. read more

Quick service, the food came out really quickly. Ordered the sauteed edamame (to share) which was a lovely surprise. The sauteed flavour of garlic tasted very delicious! Ordered the spicy miso ramen which was average. Was not spicy at all and required a lot of additional hot sauce! The noodles were pretty thick compared to other ramen places, but they tasted the same. The noodle to vegetable ratio was very room; only 1 piece of mushroom in my entire ramen. The place itself is nice and I could see it being a decent date spot if that's what you are looking for. More importly for me the other day was the Ramen and I was not dissapointed. I am so glad that I did not look down at the reviews beforehand because if I did I would have never entered. A Ramen expert I know had a terrible experience before and she happened to order the exact bowl I did...the vegetarian Tantan men (14.00). The tofu was crumbled rather than pieces, which caught me off guard. I was hoping for more chunks of vegetables and tofu but it was mostly broth and noodles. I frequent this place because it's one of the only places with vegan ramen that my mom is a fan of. I've had many of the appetizers, the kara age, kale mushroom (surprisingly our favorite), pork buns, and the japanese pancake. Honestly I loved them more than the main meat ramens. All of them were absolutely phenomenal, which is quite rare for me to say because Im generally not too big on appetizers. As for the ramen, Ive had the all star, tonkotsu, and spicy miso. I don't think I was especially blown away by any of them. I think setagayas noodles are great, but i was particularly disappointed by the all star. When you pay 15$ for a bowl of ramen, I'd expect more than just an egg and 2 mushrooms alongside the cha shu. When my bowl came it looked disappointingly empty.
